Plans for the resources section and donations. (Poll inside)
Eden replied to Eden's topic in Site Questions
Yes! It would probably be entirely through Paypal. :) -
Howdy! To start AB is funded by staff members. Either monetarily or by licenses. We didn't have any plans to ask for donations given that we didn't want readers to feel that donors would have a protection from being bewared or given special treatment when it came to their post being in queue. Currently the costs of maintaining the site are manageable and comfortable. Until I had the idea to expand the Resources section beyond the original scope. The original scope was to have a few articles that staff could write concerning freelancing, dealing with difficult clients, ect. However, as time went on the idea to make the Resources section to a basic 101 course section really became appealing to me. Plus with the move off of Livejournal the site has more traffic than it originally did on LJ. As a group we're pretty busy taking care of the behind the scenes work as well as archiving. So the next idea was to pay decent rates (3c a word) to ask individuals to write for us. Which I don't mind self funding, but it would be slow going. This is where we have to ask you: Would you be open to the idea of donating to help fund the new articles? Donors with site memberships would have a special rank. The current items I'd like to see in the Resources section are: Freelancing 101: Getting Started Payment Processors Dealing with Difficult Clients How to Build a TOS Commissioning Art 101: Tips for New Clients How to Mitigate Chargebacks Enamel Pins 101: Getting Started Enamel Pins - Third Party or Factory Direct? Stickers and Charms 101 How to Price Your Art Convention Tables 101: Surviving your first con (I'm working on the items in Italics. The items in Blue are already being licensed.) Edit: I also want to do a quick Q&A 1. Will you accept donations after the Resources are completed? No. We'll return to business as usual. 2. If there is excess money, what happens to it? It'll be used to pay for the site until it's gone. 3. Will there be record keeping and transparency? Yes! I'll be keeping a google doc with information concerning incoming donations and outgoing payments. (With proof as is required) 4. Would you accept donations of articles instead? Yes! Absolutely.

Probably because PayPal would make their legal name visible to the artist. I also peeked into the tumblr blogs and there appear to be accusations of threats? I guess OP is worried about being doxed. Not sure if Ko-fi hides the names of account holders when they make their initial payment. With that said a lot of folks don't know that they can upgrade to a business account to hide their personal info.

Noted, however it's moot given the artist was offering refunds.

Legalities and moralities are two different things. Technically non refund clauses aren't illegal. If a client asks for a refund you cease all work and refund for work not done. That's good business, and no payment processor will deny a client a refund if OP chooses to go the route of a chargeback. It doesn't matter if the artist "intends to finish" because the client has made it known they do not wish for this transaction to continue. If the client had asked for a refund and the artist finished it anyway, then we would have put that through. That's incredibly unprofessional. An artist shouldn't spend money they haven't earned. Realistically that isn't always possible, but they aren't denying a refund based on not having the money. They're denying the refund on something entirely not their business. Edit: Edited to add "work not done" because I realize our user base is bigger than the old Livejournal base where good business practices were often discussed in the past.

Goodness gracious. Regardless of one's feelings on certain kinks (goodness knows there are plenty out there that squick me), it's not ok to keep someone's money once they request a refund. I'm not very familiar with Ko-fi, but if you used your cc if push comes to shove can you request a chargeback?

Jun. 29th, 2012 at 12:11 PM acrothdragon Who: Paint - http://www.furaffinity.net/user/paint/ Where: Furaffinity What: Commissioned Miss Paint to do a non adult piece of my character and my friends. When & Explanation: Commission was excepted by the artist on Nov 20th, 2011 she noted me the price would be 68.00 in all and to expect work to be finished by mid December to early January. I then sent the artist the amount requested by PayPal that day. After December and January passed I waited two more months and the first note on April 6, 2011 asking for an update, no reply was received, I again sent a note on April 16 and still no reply. On April 30th the artist made a journal saying she was going to start refunding all commissions, on May 6th artist uses excuse of surcharges from 3 citations has pushed back refunds. On Jun 29th I gave the artist a deadline to refund the commission and the next day she finally responds saying she would refund then proceeds to lecture me. syrae_universe WHO: Dogpuke WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/ WHAT: One digital Lineart pinup of their character. (Completed on May 30th, 2012) WHEN: May 20st, 2012 (Payment was made on May 20th, 2012) PROOF: Notes http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE_COMPLETE.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE_OUTBOX_NORESPONCE.png Link that proves it was completed. (Tumblr) Emails: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/EMAIL3.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/EMAIL2.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/Paypalinfo.png EXPLAIN: Okay. This commissioner sent me notes on both accounts for both a furcadia portrait and a digital pinup of their character. I told them that ports are closed (Due to certain reasons I won't go in) and that the others are opened. She sent me 25.00 USD via PayPal on the 20th of May. After it was done, I posted it up on my tumblr account since I only posted up on my galleries on Saturdays only. It saves me the hassle. Around June 1st, I get this email from PayPal that the commissioner opened a claim to get their money back after I just finished it. As shown above, I sent a note asking why is she filing a claim, but didn't get an answer. So, I returned to give evidence to Paypal stating that I did what I was paid to, showed evidence and turned it in (gone now since they moved on with the claim.) since they are not going to respond to me immediately. I know they've read the email but said nothing or had given me an excuse. Today, I received an email from paypal that the credit card company took their money. In result of this, the chargeback settlement fee was 20.00, which left me 9.03 in the red (Which usually entails that I am in the negative.) I was very upset about this because I'm never in the negatives. I did call paypal about it and they are disputing it with the company on my behalf. They also put back the chargeback fee so I'm no longer in the negative. I've still yet to get a reason behind this and I've talked to a few other artists that have yet to be paid by this commissioner. I wanted to leave a forewarning about this person in particular because you might get conned out of your hard earned money. This has still yet to be resolved since I didn't get my money back for drawing this picture in particular. All screenshots are posted above. Actual name of commissioner has been removed. Mine has not. Update: Sadly, I got an email back regarding my dispute and it reads: "As you know, we have been using the information you provided to dispute a chargeback filed against the transaction detailed below. Despite our best efforts, the buyer's credit card company decided in favor of the buyer. Unfortunately, we do not control the outcome of the chargeback decision reached by the buyer's issuing bank in a credit card transaction. By accepting the terms of the PayPal User Agreement, you agreed to accept the decision of the issuing bank as final and legally binding for this type of dispute." So I didn't get my money back.

Jun. 17th, 2012 at 9:08 PM Paskhowl Thylacine WHO: Akemi/Flarveon/Poppy Pandacoon WHERE: http://www.facebook.com/PoppyPandacoon http://www.furaffinity.net/user/flarveon/ http://www.furaffinity.net/user/poppypandacoon WHAT: $15 digital bust badge commission WHEN: I answered Poppy's Facebook post advertising badge commissions to be done that night, on February 1st, 2012, and sent payment. The final product was delivered on May 26, 2012. PROOF: 1. http://imm.io/sZUf (payment, with date) 2. http://imm.io/sZUu (stream conversation part 1) 3. http://imm.io/sZUz (stream conversation part 2) 4. http://imm.io/sZUA (finished product, with date) EXPLAIN: She advertised doing bust badges that evening, so I sent her the payment (see link 1). She didn't do it that night, or the following night like she said. I'm very patient with commissions, so I wasn't too fussed. Within a week, she had a sudden interest in animation and worked on "jumping icons", including giving out free ones to people who requested it at that time on Facebook. Still not a big issue. A month later she still knew I was on her to-do list, by tagging me in a Facebook post, and said she'd clear up her list. Still nothing. I tried to contact her through email (on April 17) and several other occasions via Facebook private message and on her Facebook wall, but she still never replied to me. Communication was extremely difficult. Poppy frequently posts about what she is doing, but something always seems to be broken whenever anyone wants to contact her. (see link 3) At one point, she had adjacent posts on Facebook: one saying "the best way to contact me is email", and the one next to it saying "My email is broken, I'm not receiving them." Roughly three months from the commission date, I hopped onto her stream and asked her to start my badge, which had turned into a "full body feral upgrade", which I'm not sure was really an upgrade. I think she only said yes because she thought I was a new commissioner and wanted the money coming in. (see link 2) She stopped at the sketch stage because she had to go to sleep, but refused to work on it any further until I attended another of her streams, which wasn't practical for me. Over a week passed and I asked for a refund on her Facebook wall, which wasn't replied to. Ultimately, she only finished my badge because a friend of mine reminded her in one of her streams to do it. I could accept a lot of the delays if she bothered to actually respond to her commissioners. The outright worst part for me was her constant complaining on Facebook about a fursuit commission of hers being delayed, and how the maker was accepting new commissions before her one - meanwhile, she was doing the same thing to a throng of her own commissioners without remorse.

Jun. 16th, 2012 at 10:26 PM goth_panther WHO: TheUnborn WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/theunborn/ WHAT: I commissioned her for a NSFW sketch of my girlfriend's character with two of her male characters. Screencap of agreed upon commission and payment: http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/5460/commissionagreementandp.jpg WHEN: I commissioned her on February 2nd, 2012 and paid via Paypal Feb 6th. Over 4 months later a WIP has been shown, but the sketch is still not finished. PROOF: Payment: http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2864/paypalna.jpg Note conversation on FA: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/1763/conversations.jpg EXPLAIN: I commissioned her on February 2nd, 2012 and paid via Paypal Feb 6th. Two weeks went by and I check to see how things were coming, she hadn't started on it yet but promises to start on it within the week. A full month goes by and I check in again on the 1st of April and she claims she couldn't work on it since she just got the internet back, but she'll be finishing it that week. Mid April she claims to have my commission done. Nothing. She then starts to say its her medication that she can't draw, along with artist block. At the end of April I finally get a WIP and it'll be done that night. After that she starts working on "other projects" including a comic and something to do with voice acting, so again, commissions are delayed. Almost the entire month of May goes by and not a word. The 20th rolls around and still "almost finished" and she's "working on it now" 4 days later and she "loses all her recent progress" because her program crashed and she didn't save. On the 8th of this month she says she's working on it again. Here we are week days later and she's been doing $1 stream sketches, working on animated icons and I'm still waiting. I'm a pretty patient guy, but over 4 months for a $15 dollar sketch? Yeah I'm getting pretty fed up. It sounds like its a case of taking too much on at once. If she didn't handle commissions like this I'd commission her more. RESOLVED!: I received both a refund and the art commissioned!

Jun. 12th, 2012 at 4:37 AM pyeklet WHO: Akemi/Flarveon/Poppy Pandacoon WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/flarveon/ WHAT: I asked her to make a tail for me and paid $30 in cash, this commission was taken in person so I have no digital proof of the transaction. WHEN: In around March last year I asked Akemi to make me a tail at a local coffee meet and paid her in cash. I told her the details and showed references from my FA page. I asked if it could be done by FurDU, a convention on the Gold Coast in Australia, which was at the end of April. She agreed that she could have it done by that time. I didn't ask her about it for some time even after the deadline passed, nor did I have any contact from her about it, I'm quite a patient person. I was the first to initiate contact again via PM in May of last year at which time she stated she had received the wrong fur and offered me a refund, which I accepted. She said it would be in my account the following Wednesday but then sent a PM almost a week later saying that she couldn't pay. I said that it was fine and I understood. There was no further contact on this matter until November last year when I again asked about my refund, this time over FA notes. She said she couldn't pay me because she had to put it towards bond and only gets paid fortnightly but would pay me the next time she was paid. I said I would contact her in a week but I didn't feel comfortable, I was following her journals at the time about her moving and I felt that if I contacted her again I would just get another run around. Finally in March this year I told her not to worry about the refund, I had seen her journals about needing surgery so I thought it might help her out and I didn't feel like flogging a dead horse any longer. PROOF: EXPLAIN: I did resolve this issue I suppose, by giving up (never got a note back after that final one btw although it was read). It was annoying that she owed me money but was taking commissions, selling suits, working and BUYING commissions (and a new Artslave suit recently?) but didn't have $30 to pay me.

I wasn't on the list originally, and asked if she had forgotten our trade: http://i48.tinypic.com/11hujwi.png http://i48.tinypic.com/1ekzeo.png http://i48.tinypic.com/zl2av8.png And the link to the journal: http://samiesaurus.deviantart.com/journal/REQUESTS-AND-TRADES-STILL-OPEN-218018420?offset=50#comments She switched accounts over to samiechu/sxmie and I deactivated my old account and switched to JackalTeeth in January of this year, so I noted her new account to let her know that I had changed accounts as well: http://i45.tinypic.com/2ihqog9.png She didn't respond, but read the note. She made a poll asking for more trades in March, and I as well as another user commented stating that we have been waiting awhile for our trades. She says she thought that she had given me her half, but I never received it, so I asked her to link it to me again if I had missed it: http://i50.tinypic.com/o8eaaf.png http://i49.tinypic.com/2j885g.png She went on to take requests and complete a bit of them, they can be seen in her gallery: http://i45.tinypic.com/28meq2g.png The link to her journal: http://sxmie.deviantart.com/journal/#/d51un5o I noted her again as I was beginning to get impatient, and I am not the only one who has been waiting almost 2 years for their half of a trade. She said that she was busy with university, which I would completely understand if she wasn't taking requests and finishing them in a matter of days/weeks, as well as more art trades that she has finished quite quickly. My note to her: http://i47.tinypic.com/zlb329.png Her response: http://i48.tinypic.com/29a7u0.png She says that I am "hassling" her even though I have only contacted her less than 5 times about the trade since we set it up almost 2 years ago, and once to let her know I had switched accounts. I do not mind waiting years for a trade, or any amount of time really. But she has been rude to me in her latest response, and has been completing many other things during this time period. When we first set up our trade she was not attending university, and had plenty of time to complete it before she had gone, and obviously has extra time to complete it even now since she has been taking many other requests and trades. She is also holding a contest with some pretty hefty art prizes, as in full pieces and such. Overall I am very disappointed and stressed over this situation. I'm also concerned that I may have been pushy without meaning to be, and if anyone here thinks that I was at any point out of line, I would very much like it if you told me so. EDIT: She finished her half of the trade, and I am very disappointed. It seems very rushed to me? Here it is: http://sxmie.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d53b61m And a re-upload: http://i45.tinypic.com/2h375uf.png Compared to the requests she has been taking, this looks pretty poor. I would have gladly waited longer for something even like some of the requests she's been taking, honestly. I just asked for progress from her, not to rush through her half. She also made a journal that has left a bad taste in my mouth. It just seems very passive aggressive. It can be seen here: http://my.deviantart.com/messages/#/d53b6cb And a screengrab: http://i45.tinypic.com/2a95heg.png This is less about how long she takes one some trades an more about her attitude, I suppose. Forgive me if I seem short of digital breath or anything, I just got back from a convention and am exhausted.

Jun. 3rd, 2012 at 1:50 AM OH MY HEAD nanook123 WHO: Vani/Vanimute/Vanillakitsune/ stripesandteeth WHERE: VanillaKitsune.deviantart.com (now deactivated) also Vanimute@DA Vani@FA Stripesandteeth@Tumblr WHAT: One Traditional Badge costing 45$ (Paid $46 to cover paypal's fee as a courtesy) and a Full Body Digital Badge Trade, my half was completed for AC 2010 WHEN: June 16th 2010 for the Badge Trade, June 22nd 2010 for the Paid Badge. She had been known for drama in the past, but I thought she'd gotten her act together. I guess I was wrong. I don't pressure folks to turn the art over, but I waited a year before I contacted her the first time, and that was because she made a Journal on FA updating everyone that had commissioned her of their place in line. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1953643/ PROOF: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/nanook123/badgecommission.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/nanook123/badgeconvo.jpg EXPLAIN: Well, 2 years ago, I commissioned a couple of icons from Vani and she turned them around pretty quickly. Soon thereafter we agreed to a trade, in time for AC 2010. I performed my part of the trade as outlined in my evidence image entitled "badge convo". The link to my part is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4020610/ In her reply she mentions finishing my part before she leaves for AC that year. I was simply happy to get a piece from an artist who's art I admired. Then she made a post on June 21st 2010 http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1494591/ for a round of badges before AC. I noted her as referenced in my proof called "Badge Commission". I sent payment of 46$ and set to waiting patiently like everyone else. As an artist myself I don't make a habit of pushing another artist for work. I like everyone else had just kept quiet, even as Vani made post after post fretting about not having enough money to live on. I waited even as she took on more commissions from others. Even as she went from Con to con, making money off of other people, producing art and posting it on her blog, on her art sites and twitter. I clammed up afraid to speak up. I didn't want her legion of fans to come and get me. I didn't want to create drama. Like others who have posted here, I'm tired of that. It's not about the money now. That money is thrown away, it's gone. It's about the principal. Well, in March I decided to speak up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/nanook123/emailcheckin.jpg I emailed her to ask for a status. To this day I haven't gotten an email back. Part of me never really expected to. If she had any intention of doing the work, she would have shown at least a sketch or something by now. Finally I got fed up this week and made an inquiry to her on her Tumblr Page. To my surprise she replied with the attached... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/nanook123/tumblrmessage.jpg Her reply left me a little stunned. I mean, she literally has no intention of finishing any of the work she took from those on FA. I can tell it just by the way she's speaking. Just based on the badge commissions she took, basing them at about 40$ a piece, she made close to 800$ off of us. So after reading her reply, I sent her another message outlined below: "I appreciate the reply, and sadly I fully expected the answer I got. I'm very disappointed. I know you're a college student with a lot on your plate, but your commission list is 8 miles long. You made a commitment to all those people that you would draw them something if they gave you money. You made a commitment to those who drew for you in exchange for a piece back. You haven't even so much as done a sketch, but you're so happy to fill your blog with drawings daily. Instead of doing that you could do a commission a day until you're caught up. You know...if you'd just given me a sketch of the things you owed me, I would have been more than happy to call my debt paid and colored the dang things myself. You didn't even try. I don't think it's fair for you to say that you're going to a con to earn money to live on when you've already lived on the money that you got from every single person on your commission list. You've already spent that money and even if every single one of them demanded their money back, there's no way they'd ever get it. Your answer to me is a cop out. You're more than willing to draw at a con or doodle on your blog, but for people on the internet you're just leaving them on the back burner with no idea when you'll actually get to it. I'm very sorry you're in whatever situation you're in at school/home, but you made commitments to ALL of the people you took money from. So I guess consider the art I gave you a gift and consider the money I gave you a donation. I still really enjoy your art, but it isn't worth continuing to wait and hope for anymore. Best of luck to you, Trish" So the purpose of my post here is to help others be warned before commissioning her online or at a con. Her art is pretty, well done and balanced. I really enjoy the style, but it's not worth the headache. 2 years have gone by. I don't think I'll ever see the pieces I commissioned from her. I don't want the money back. I want what I paid for. Even if she did it now, it would feel forced. I don't trust her to do what she says she'll do and neither should anyone else. So, Please, don't mark it resolved, because short of a public apology to everyone she owes stuff to, there isn't much else she can do for me. Please mark it as warning. She owes 54 people plus 5 trades. I somehow doubt she'll ever do it. Even if each of these commissions was a single character at $40 that's over 2000$ she's made off of a community that trusted she had changed. I don't want anyone else to make that mistake.

May. 22nd, 2012 at 6:41 PM kaliamberscale WHO: Aluminemsiren, a.k.a. Orion WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/aluminemsiren WHAT: One $25 character bust WHEN: October 27th - Present PROOF: I don't think this needs much explaining. Artist was commissioned in late October. I didn't bug them about the commission until months had already passed. Bugged them 2 or 3 more times between December 2011 and May of this year. One of my emails even went ignored completely (probably because they were getting hounded by so many disgruntled commissioners). May 12th, 2012 I requested a refund. The email was read but never replied to. I then sent another email asking for a refund, this time with more "srs bzns" verbiage. I was told I would have to wait until Friday May 18th and will receive only a partial refund because the sketch had already been done. It is now 3 days after the 18th and my Paypal account is still at $0. Aluminum, if you're reading this... I understand it's your business and you make the rules, but at this point in the game, a partial refund is only adding insult to injury. http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o605/kalipython/AS01.jpg http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o605/kalipython/as02.jpg http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o605/kalipython/as03.jpg EXPLAIN: Not much else to tell here. The screenshots speak for themselves. *shrug* EDIT: I have received a full refund in my paypal account from the artist. Aluminum, I sincerely thank you for refunding me and I hope you are able to get your commission queue under control. Good luck and thanks again.

May. 19th, 2012 at 1:00 PM mmyesidosay EDIT: As of this morning Vella has issued me a refund and what I feel to be a sincere apology. I'd like this to be marked resolved, and if she comes across the drawings in the recovery of her PC, I'm more than happy to pay for them then. :) EDITEDIT: Vella was able to find my two drawings and send them along my way. I returned her refund, as they look fantastic, and again, she was very pleasant. I've been a bit iffy about posting this for several days now, but my jimmies are rustled, and not quite sure how to proceed. I feel bad about doing this, as I KNOW the artist has been going through rough times, so I apologize, I've just no idea whats going on with my commissions, and repeated attempts to find out have been ignored. WHO: VellaCRaptor WHERE: http://vellacraptor.deviantart.com/ and http://vellacraptor.livejournal.com/ are the accounts I was able to get in contact with her through. WHAT: Two small portrait commissions totally $4 I believe, offered via TeenyCom (http://teenycom.livejournal.com/1063202.html) WHEN: Ongoing since early October of last year. PROOF: Initial transaction made in the comments of her TeenyCom post. I'd been having issues with PayPal, so asked for confirmation via notes to be sure she got my payment. When she did not respond, I asked again, and was finally sure it had cleared into her account. EXPLAIN: When Vella offered small commissions to be done in between her larger ones, I fully expected a wait, and was completely okay with that. Her art is adorable, and I was so excited~ But as the months ticked by with no word at all, I decided to dredge up the post and see if anyone else had gotten their art. A few here and there had, but took me a bit to actually find out what the issue had been. Okie Dokie, seems her computer crashed. Bad things like that happen, I wasn't at all upset, though I had wished she had told us that there would be some form of delay or issue. Vella gets an Artists_Beware post sometime after this I believe, where she states that she rarely checks LiveJournal anymore. It was now early April, and I still haven't heard word, so I shoot her a note via FurAffinity, which goes unread: Normally I would have waited a bit longer before trying again, but hadn't heard from her in so long, I figured I'd go ahead and shoot her an email as well, my reasoning being that if she had stopped checking FA as well, I'd be silly for me to try that as my only means of communication. And again, my email goes unanswered: I sit around for a few weeks, before finally realizing she has a DeviantArt. I shoot her a note, and finally, a response! Just.. telling me that yes, she'll still do them. I'm missing a note where I get excited and thank her for her response, but after several days of nothing once again, I ask for a possible date she might be finished with them. And once more, this note goes unread. (please remember to read DA notes bottom to top!): Aaaaaaaand then nothing. I can see her popping on and off DA multiple times a day, so to be ignored feels pretty bad. Finally, I decide that $4 isn't worth this sort of aggravation, and ask for a refund. It gets read, but no response. I send another note, and I apologize to both AB and the artist if I got snippy, I've never been in a situation like this before, and was getting pretty fed up with the lack of communication. As soon as I send this one, I get a response, with nothing more than 'I thought you already got yours'. Okay, maybe I was a dick and had. I go back and check all y accounts, and nope, no response from her in any of them. I tell her this, and as of today (May 19th), my note has still been unread. I'm at a loss. If my art has already been completed, then fantastic! Im okay with delays, Im just so frustrated with not having any idea whats going on. The only way I found out there was a problem at all was by drudging through her conversations with other commissioners in that TeenyCom post. I know shes been having issues IRL, but just a quick note to acknowledge that she at least remembers I'm on some list somewhere would have been fantastic. After seeing Vella's last A_B post, I had really hoped things would get better, it's been well past PayPal's refund date, so Im at a loss. Thanks all for your time and any suggestions!

May. 11th, 2012 at 8:40 PM celestinaketzia Who: Tashumitsu (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tashumitsu/) / Tani-Da-Inki (http://tani-da-inki.deviantart.com/) What: Sketch trade. When: I finished my part of the sketch trade in February of 2011. Explain/ Proof: I posted a journal on FA back in February asking if anyone was willing to do a trade for my boyfriend's character, Gabriel. I have since deleted it, but Tashumitsu replied saying they would be willing to do it. We exchanged info (mind you they already had what character I wanted), and I finished my piece shortly after. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5212952/ (SFW) And then I hear nothing from Tashumitsu until April when he shouted this journal on my page- http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2277883/ Ok, that's excellent. :) I thanked him and then proceed to wait a bit more. It's now August and I haven't even seen this half sketch, so I shoot him another note. http://taasla.net/silly/notetashu1.png Well, ok! That's good. You can see my response, but he never responded back to me whether or not he had started it, or if it was sitting half done. Silence. I waited and noted Tashumitsu on October 8th. I'll admit my note may not be polite, but I was kind of at a loss on what to tell him. http://taasla.net/silly/notetashu2.png That note didn't get responded to, but I did notice activity in his account. Frustrated, I sent him a note titled Last Contact. I can't seem to find the actual note anywhere, but I did say that unless they responded to me I would be going to A_B. They did respond saying they would get on it and asked me what A_B was. Accepting that, I responded back with the following note. http://taasla.net/silly/abcontact.png Shortly after this I got a job offer and had to ship out for training and moved shortly after. The whole thing slipped my mind until April-ish and I went over to their account. He had posted a journal asking for people they owed art to respond. I responded. http://taasla.net/silly/oowedart.png I heard nothing until today where another artist posted a journal asking for art trades. Now that I am calm, I regret posting in her journal (and if you're reading this, I apologize again for bringing that into your space). I should have noted them, but I was incredibly upset at this point. Tashu stated they wanted to trade with them meanwhile owing me for more than a year. That was the last straw and here I am. http://taasla.net/silly/finalstraw.png The artist's name has been edited out to protect their privacy. My comments were hidden by me as they don't need that on their journal. In short, don't trade with Tashu. You will be waiting a very long time with countless excuses. Edit: Fixed some flubs with Tashu's gender. :) If anyone spots any instances where I still refer to him as she, please let me know. While this was in queue, Tashu has delivered his half of the trade seen here. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7965448/

May. 10th, 2012 at 1:33 PM red13nanaki WHO:AluminemSiren WHERE: FA WHAT: $25 Portrait Commission WHEN: October 27th 2011 PROOF: Journal Entry http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2853928/ Paypal Receipt http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/3028/co124wcol124maillivecom.jpg This is my first post here and I believe it has come to the point now where more attention needs to be brought to this. Because I am not the only one going through this situation. Back in October AluminemSiren had opened up for some more of his portrait commissions. I had liked his style so I had jumped at it since I was around when he put a journal up on it for a change. I ended up being one of the first people to comment in the journal, paid right after it and was on the actual list of people to be completed first. After some time he continued to add to the waiting list and also ended up opening up for more icon commissions for "new glasses money". I know how it is with art and I figured it was kind of an emergency so I never said anything. Though at one point I checked his portrait queue journal to see if it was updated at all or if maybe he updated mine and I somehow missed the sketch of the drawing. At which point I had noticed one of the new ones he was taking where he said he would have the sketch to them in a day or two. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2853928/#cid:23299249 Finally last month after waiting about six months for the drawing I started throwing him comments as to what was going on because he put up yet another journal for more icons because they "need something to do" and "won't have time for portraits." I had commented in that journal to try and get an answer from him and at the same time I sent him a note on it. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3373137/ He has since then hid my comment in the journal and replied to me afterword finally. Here is my note to him and the one I got back from him. http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/6375/wwwfuraffinitynetviewme.pnghttp://img716.imageshack.us/img716/6375/wwwfuraffinitynetviewme.png After which I had sent him a reply on a few things that I would like changed with the drawing. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/6375/wwwfuraffinitynetviewme.png At this point I have yet to hear back from him again on anything and I had sent him another note asking for an update on the drawing and it is yet to be read. http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6375/wwwfuraffinitynetviewme.png For as long as I've waited for this I don't want any kind of refund or anything like that. Especially since he has given me a quick sketch on the drawing. I just want to get the finished product from him and not have this drag along anymore. Update 5/27: He's commented on the actual post here, " Sorry, I haven't really replied to any of my notes since I came back out of town. I'm going through a really rough breakup, and been emotionally drained, maybe even depressed, and I've lost the motivation to do much of anything at the moment. I don't like to explain myself anymore because I think most people will think I'm just trying to think of the latest, greatest excuse to not work on my commissions, but I really have been an emotional wreck these past few weeks and it's killer on my motivation." He has yet to try updating anyone on his actual FA page, yet has been faving art and has shouted on one of this friend's pages. Update: 9/19/2012 I figured I would attempt to update my post here, though there really hasn't been much at all to update on. There really hasn't been much mention or updates to anyone's artwork except for this post months ago http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3560664/ and I never heard anything back as far as the changes on mine. Other than where he has the list at mine is marked as inking. I've also been hesitant on updating this or asking him for any sort of update because I didn't want to get any lash back from any of it. I've already received that when this was originally brought up and one of his friends took it upon themselves to start something on my page. http://imageshack.us/a/img694/706/screenshot213i.png The one thing that was discussed was even if he has no control over what his friends say or do it is bad business practices to have your friends run amok and cause problems while there are some problems that need to be dealt with. I would personally not shop at a place where the owners friends were allowed to act out and cause problems in the store while I was shopping there. As far as any of the comments making fun or joking about the "where's my art and such" there hasn't been anything else on that as far as I have seen. So that had finally stopped. Right now it's at a standstill again and don't know whether I should contact him again about the art or not. Update: 10/10/2012 He has been slowly working on the drawings once again. At first he was working down the list, but is not jumping around it again. Completing one of the commissions that is toward the bottom of the list that was taken a few months after the ones at the top. After he said in one of his journals he was going to group the commissions up and work down them in said groups. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3560664 He is also apparently going to jump to someone else's because they brought it up with him in a recent journal, but again they haven't been waiting as long as some others, but he is going to work on theirs first. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3911849/#cid:29141729 Update:12/20/2012 Back on October 17th he had posted a journal stating that after a break from attempting to catch up on his backlog he was going to jump back in and work on it again. Since then there has been no more progress and the only update he has posted on his profile was on November 2nd when he stated he had a Weasyl account. On December 5th I had shouted on his page asking for any kind of update on the drawing and it's gone completely ignored. Someone else asked as well on the 10th and it's gone ignored as well. He has been active on the account however because he has been watching new users. So he is once again avoiding the entire situation.

May. 7th, 2012 at 9:55 PM wilhawk Last iFC, I wanted to get a badge from him. Something simple. He was doing sketches and badges of characters dressed up in Video Game attire. During my huge kick with Tales of Vesperia, I wanted my character dressed as Karol Kapel from Tales of Vesperia. WHO: Dariuskoopa or DMK WHERE: iFC 2011. WHAT: I commissioned him to make a badge of my character in person. WHEN: Ever since August of 2011 at last years iFC. I've noted him various times in regards to the progress an at least getting an email of the completed product. I saw him at MFF as well, and he told me that he would bring it, provided I noted him, which I did, and something else that I forgot to do. He doesn't send anything in the mail, due to past bad experiences. I've noted him countless times and he said that he has and would email it again, but I have yet to get any emails on it. PROOF: http://tinypic.com/r/eb1l5y/6 http://tinypic.com/r/r26a9y/6 http://tinypic.com/r/3539khv/6 http://tinypic.com/r/2cr2b9t/6 EXPLAIN: He's a friend of mine and I wanted to give him some business at the con, so I got a badge and heard he doesn't send stuff over the mail. Bad experiences and I can dig that. I mean, if something sucks enough, you find work arounds. I've been noting him since August of 2011 and I have been getting responces on it, and notes stating that it was emailed to me, yet I still haven't received it. He did a journal of people he still has to email stuff out to and to note him, which I did, and I still haven't gotten anything on it. Granted, it's been a couple months since I've last noted him because I'm getting tired, but still. The transactions were in person, so there is no receipt or anything of the like, sadly. I'd just like to see my work that I commissioned for.
