  1. Went ahead and uploaded a screenshot of their traced piece in case they delete it.
  2. Went ahead and edited your post to include direct urls to their twitter and FA, and added a note to your post. There's an artist with a very similar username that can easily be confused between the two.
  3. Gotcha! How to thank donors is still in the works. If a badge on their account is too intimidating, then maybe I can send a thank you sticker with our mascot on it. The second I can't really show any "proof", but I assure everyone that this won't be the case. We have a lot if internal checks that prevent anyone from sneaking posts out of the queue. Every post that has ever been rejected is archived with the exact notice we sent to the user. Every time we get a post in every member of staff is emailed. Plus the individuals that we have modding for us are very principled. I know without a shadow of a doubt that if we asked them to review posts with keeping donor status in mind they'd call us out publicly without hesitation.
  4. At the very least take screenshots of everything. If they want to toss you all over social media you'd at least have proof of your side.
  5. I'm not sure what you're asking entirely. Can you clarify what you mean? I'm not sure if you're asking how we would prevent the public from being afraid to post on a member who is a donor, or how we would prevent our staff from being lenient on a donor.
  6. Basically what Xai said. Regardless of what they want their constant badgering and refusing to believe you has to be putting stress on you. This isn't good for your recovery. I'm actually concerned that you're drawing at all! You can tell them that either they can lay off and let you work, or they will receive an immediate refund. They can either supply you their email so you can refund them, and they can accept the refund, or you'll consider it a charitable donation. This is going to be a scenario where they're hoping you'll bump them to the top of the queue and do their work. That is the only option they're looking for if they don't want a refund, but don't want to wait. That scenario can't be good for your recovery, either.
  7. Oh yes, thank you for reminding me to put that on the list. Right now the AB trello is private, but I can make it public later to allow others to comment on it.
  8. Wow. That speaks volumes about Dalmy's will to make things right.
  9. Oh my word. What a mess. 😞 I hope you're never in a similar situation again, but this is why you never close a claim. They should have refunded the original transaction as it simply cancels the transaction, and no one incurs fees. In addition, them sending you the refund via a regular goods and services payment, it leaves you exposed to having your transaction claimed. I hope you get your refund soon.
  10. Yes! It would probably be entirely through Paypal. :)
  11. Howdy! To start AB is funded by staff members. Either monetarily or by licenses. We didn't have any plans to ask for donations given that we didn't want readers to feel that donors would have a protection from being bewared or given special treatment when it came to their post being in queue. Currently the costs of maintaining the site are manageable and comfortable. Until I had the idea to expand the Resources section beyond the original scope. The original scope was to have a few articles that staff could write concerning freelancing, dealing with difficult clients, ect. However, as time went on the idea to make the Resources section to a basic 101 course section really became appealing to me. Plus with the move off of Livejournal the site has more traffic than it originally did on LJ. As a group we're pretty busy taking care of the behind the scenes work as well as archiving. So the next idea was to pay decent rates (3c a word) to ask individuals to write for us. Which I don't mind self funding, but it would be slow going. This is where we have to ask you: Would you be open to the idea of donating to help fund the new articles? Donors with site memberships would have a special rank. The current items I'd like to see in the Resources section are: Freelancing 101: Getting Started Payment Processors Dealing with Difficult Clients How to Build a TOS Commissioning Art 101: Tips for New Clients How to Mitigate Chargebacks Enamel Pins 101: Getting Started Enamel Pins - Third Party or Factory Direct? Stickers and Charms 101 How to Price Your Art Convention Tables 101: Surviving your first con (I'm working on the items in Italics. The items in Blue are already being licensed.) Edit: I also want to do a quick Q&A 1. Will you accept donations after the Resources are completed? No. We'll return to business as usual. 2. If there is excess money, what happens to it? It'll be used to pay for the site until it's gone. 3. Will there be record keeping and transparency? Yes! I'll be keeping a google doc with information concerning incoming donations and outgoing payments. (With proof as is required) 4. Would you accept donations of articles instead? Yes! Absolutely.
  12. Probably because PayPal would make their legal name visible to the artist. I also peeked into the tumblr blogs and there appear to be accusations of threats? I guess OP is worried about being doxed. Not sure if Ko-fi hides the names of account holders when they make their initial payment. With that said a lot of folks don't know that they can upgrade to a business account to hide their personal info.
  13. Noted, however it's moot given the artist was offering refunds.
  14. Legalities and moralities are two different things. Technically non refund clauses aren't illegal. If a client asks for a refund you cease all work and refund for work not done. That's good business, and no payment processor will deny a client a refund if OP chooses to go the route of a chargeback. It doesn't matter if the artist "intends to finish" because the client has made it known they do not wish for this transaction to continue. If the client had asked for a refund and the artist finished it anyway, then we would have put that through. That's incredibly unprofessional. An artist shouldn't spend money they haven't earned. Realistically that isn't always possible, but they aren't denying a refund based on not having the money. They're denying the refund on something entirely not their business. Edit: Edited to add "work not done" because I realize our user base is bigger than the old Livejournal base where good business practices were often discussed in the past.
  15. Goodness gracious. Regardless of one's feelings on certain kinks (goodness knows there are plenty out there that squick me), it's not ok to keep someone's money once they request a refund. I'm not very familiar with Ko-fi, but if you used your cc if push comes to shove can you request a chargeback?
  16. If it's beyond the 180 days for PayPal, then there's unfortunately nothing else to do. You could contact your bank, but most of them are 180 days as well.

  20. Jun. 29th, 2012 at 12:11 PM acrothdragon Who: Paint - http://www.furaffinity.net/user/paint/ Where: Furaffinity What: Commissioned Miss Paint to do a non adult piece of my character and my friends. When & Explanation: Commission was excepted by the artist on Nov 20th, 2011 she noted me the price would be 68.00 in all and to expect work to be finished by mid December to early January. I then sent the artist the amount requested by PayPal that day. After December and January passed I waited two more months and the first note on April 6, 2011 asking for an update, no reply was received, I again sent a note on April 16 and still no reply. On April 30th the artist made a journal saying she was going to start refunding all commissions, on May 6th artist uses excuse of surcharges from 3 citations has pushed back refunds. On Jun 29th I gave the artist a deadline to refund the commission and the next day she finally responds saying she would refund then proceeds to lecture me. When: Payment was sent on January 25th 2012. We spoke on the 26th where he told me he would send me pic of the status in a few weeks. I followed up in the last week of February since I had not heard from him, or seen anything. I didn't get any reply till April 19th 2012 when he told me is had gotten swamped. He acknowledged he had received my dozens of notes asking for a status update. He apologized and promised to have some pictures later that night for me, and he promised to have it all wrapped up & shipped before May 1st 2012. Once again he disappeared and ignored my follow ups till May 30th. Where he added me to his Yahoo Messenger. We chatted and promised once again to have my hoodie shipped out by June 10th 2012. I have not heard from him since. 22. syrae_universe WHO: Dogpuke WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/ WHAT: One digital Lineart pinup of their character. (Completed on May 30th, 2012) WHEN: May 20st, 2012 (Payment was made on May 20th, 2012) PROOF: Notes http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE_COMPLETE.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/NOTE_OUTBOX_NORESPONCE.png Link that proves it was completed. (Tumblr) Emails: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/EMAIL3.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/EMAIL2.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Syrae_Universe/Other stuff/Paypalinfo.png EXPLAIN: Okay. This commissioner sent me notes on both accounts for both a furcadia portrait and a digital pinup of their character. I told them that ports are closed (Due to certain reasons I won't go in) and that the others are opened. She sent me 25.00 USD via PayPal on the 20th of May. After it was done, I posted it up on my tumblr account since I only posted up on my galleries on Saturdays only. It saves me the hassle. Around June 1st, I get this email from PayPal that the commissioner opened a claim to get their money back after I just finished it. As shown above, I sent a note asking why is she filing a claim, but didn't get an answer. So, I returned to give evidence to Paypal stating that I did what I was paid to, showed evidence and turned it in (gone now since they moved on with the claim.) since they are not going to respond to me immediately. I know they've read the email but said nothing or had given me an excuse. Today, I received an email from paypal that the credit card company took their money. In result of this, the chargeback settlement fee was 20.00, which left me 9.03 in the red (Which usually entails that I am in the negative.) I was very upset about this because I'm never in the negatives. I did call paypal about it and they are disputing it with the company on my behalf. They also put back the chargeback fee so I'm no longer in the negative. I've still yet to get a reason behind this and I've talked to a few other artists that have yet to be paid by this commissioner. I wanted to leave a forewarning about this person in particular because you might get conned out of your hard earned money. This has still yet to be resolved since I didn't get my money back for drawing this picture in particular. All screenshots are posted above. Actual name of commissioner has been removed. Mine has not. Update: Sadly, I got an email back regarding my dispute and it reads: "As you know, we have been using the information you provided to dispute a chargeback filed against the transaction detailed below. Despite our best efforts, the buyer's credit card company decided in favor of the buyer. Unfortunately, we do not control the outcome of the chargeback decision reached by the buyer's issuing bank in a credit card transaction. By accepting the terms of the PayPal User Agreement, you agreed to accept the decision of the issuing bank as final and legally binding for this type of dispute." So I didn't get my money back.
  23. Jun. 17th, 2012 at 9:08 PM Paskhowl Thylacine WHO: Akemi/Flarveon/Poppy Pandacoon WHERE: http://www.facebook.com/PoppyPandacoon http://www.furaffinity.net/user/flarveon/ http://www.furaffinity.net/user/poppypandacoon WHAT: $15 digital bust badge commission WHEN: I answered Poppy's Facebook post advertising badge commissions to be done that night, on February 1st, 2012, and sent payment. The final product was delivered on May 26, 2012. PROOF: 1. http://imm.io/sZUf (payment, with date) 2. http://imm.io/sZUu (stream conversation part 1) 3. http://imm.io/sZUz (stream conversation part 2) 4. http://imm.io/sZUA (finished product, with date) EXPLAIN: She advertised doing bust badges that evening, so I sent her the payment (see link 1). She didn't do it that night, or the following night like she said. I'm very patient with commissions, so I wasn't too fussed. Within a week, she had a sudden interest in animation and worked on "jumping icons", including giving out free ones to people who requested it at that time on Facebook. Still not a big issue. A month later she still knew I was on her to-do list, by tagging me in a Facebook post, and said she'd clear up her list. Still nothing. I tried to contact her through email (on April 17) and several other occasions via Facebook private message and on her Facebook wall, but she still never replied to me. Communication was extremely difficult. Poppy frequently posts about what she is doing, but something always seems to be broken whenever anyone wants to contact her. (see link 3) At one point, she had adjacent posts on Facebook: one saying "the best way to contact me is email", and the one next to it saying "My email is broken, I'm not receiving them." Roughly three months from the commission date, I hopped onto her stream and asked her to start my badge, which had turned into a "full body feral upgrade", which I'm not sure was really an upgrade. I think she only said yes because she thought I was a new commissioner and wanted the money coming in. (see link 2) She stopped at the sketch stage because she had to go to sleep, but refused to work on it any further until I attended another of her streams, which wasn't practical for me. Over a week passed and I asked for a refund on her Facebook wall, which wasn't replied to. Ultimately, she only finished my badge because a friend of mine reminded her in one of her streams to do it. I could accept a lot of the delays if she bothered to actually respond to her commissioners. The outright worst part for me was her constant complaining on Facebook about a fursuit commission of hers being delayed, and how the maker was accepting new commissions before her one - meanwhile, she was doing the same thing to a throng of her own commissioners without remorse.
  24. Jun. 16th, 2012 at 10:26 PM goth_panther WHO: TheUnborn WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/theunborn/ WHAT: I commissioned her for a NSFW sketch of my girlfriend's character with two of her male characters. Screencap of agreed upon commission and payment: http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/5460/commissionagreementandp.jpg WHEN: I commissioned her on February 2nd, 2012 and paid via Paypal Feb 6th. Over 4 months later a WIP has been shown, but the sketch is still not finished. PROOF: Payment: http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2864/paypalna.jpg Note conversation on FA: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/1763/conversations.jpg EXPLAIN: I commissioned her on February 2nd, 2012 and paid via Paypal Feb 6th. Two weeks went by and I check to see how things were coming, she hadn't started on it yet but promises to start on it within the week. A full month goes by and I check in again on the 1st of April and she claims she couldn't work on it since she just got the internet back, but she'll be finishing it that week. Mid April she claims to have my commission done. Nothing. She then starts to say its her medication that she can't draw, along with artist block. At the end of April I finally get a WIP and it'll be done that night. After that she starts working on "other projects" including a comic and something to do with voice acting, so again, commissions are delayed. Almost the entire month of May goes by and not a word. The 20th rolls around and still "almost finished" and she's "working on it now" 4 days later and she "loses all her recent progress" because her program crashed and she didn't save. On the 8th of this month she says she's working on it again. Here we are week days later and she's been doing $1 stream sketches, working on animated icons and I'm still waiting. I'm a pretty patient guy, but over 4 months for a $15 dollar sketch? Yeah I'm getting pretty fed up. It sounds like its a case of taking too much on at once. If she didn't handle commissions like this I'd commission her more. RESOLVED!: I received both a refund and the art commissioned!
