Unfortunately this looks more and more to be the case that the client was using a credit card that they should not have had access to. This generally happens when minors or adults get a hold of their parents' credit card. Or a parent involved in their life has discovered that they are running up a large balance on their own credit card. If you contact Paypal again there's a chance they can refund you the credit card chargeback fee.

Post has been unlocked for an update.
-
This thread has been locked. Currently the artist gave the OP a deadline of May for the refund, and normally we'd have rejected it to wait until then but it was escalated by the leaving fa/ ban from twitter. Due to the artist's medical status they can't do anything from here until May. So far the community has said its piece and there's no more to add until the artist's deadline has passed. OP: if May comes around and you still don't have a refund PM any staff member and we will update the thread and unlock it.
-
The answer to that would be both. We aren't here to gawk at someone's personal struggles or to speculate on their financial situation. She is going through a dire medical situation, and that's all that needs to be said.

A post from Tentacles1 was not approved for excessive personal information. Please review the commenting guidelines. And quite frankly, many artists and service workers exist every day going through rough situations and manage to not be rude to their clients just fine. If it truly is that bad then its time to refund and take recovery time.

" I will still be here to check on friends art or posts journals.. occasionally or whatever, " "occasionally or whatever" doesn't inspire confidence given where the OP is at now, as well as being blocked on Twitter. The artist absolutely should have contacted the OP directly if they intended to "occasionally or whatever" drop in for the foreseeable future. It's only good business. Mega yikes op. Please let us know if you actually get your refund when they "occasionally or whatever" decide to come back and do right by you.

Imo at this point a refund may be your best option. I know she makes more via her sketches than your original commission's cost, and she probably could knock out a refund sketch quicker than completing your image. Obviously it's not ideal to take more comms to refund comms, but its frustrating to not see you made whole for 4 years.

They are factually incorrect. They are producing derivative work off of another artist's work. It being a Telegram sticker doesn't make the item's copyright void and open for public use. Gross.

Alright y'all! We think Chesta understands how to communicate better. From here on out comments continuing to bring it up may remain hidden unless there's a major update.
-
Howdy! We approved the two comments but hid the others for proxy. ? let's keep it focused on the OP here!

While I haven't seen the update: overly personal information as you've posted to this client is obscenely unprofessional as it guilt trips clients into not trying to follow up what they are rightfully owed. This is a business client transaction. You can convey delays without guilting people with the nitty gritty details of current events. Edit: okay yea I read a bit and stopped reading. There is absolutely no reason to share that kind of information to your clients. And quite frankly your child deserves their dignity respected and not aired out to a bunch of strangers. Please note that if you attempt to bring that here it simply won't be approved for being inappropriate.

This is something that can be added, but would have to be manually added to posts already on the site. Given that we are already a strained volunteer group is no guarantee that we can get to old posts and do them in a timely manner or at all.

Artist is requesting customers' personal info
Eden replied to Mortymaxwell's topic in Advice for Commissioners
I wouldn't work with any of these people. I have an accountant and pay state taxes to the comptroller's office. No one ever has required the personal information of my clients. I submit a total for the quarter and it's done. Furthermore storage of client PII outside of Paypal requires them to legally have a privacy disclosure. AB has one because we store email addresses. I also do commercial items and have a relationship with a fellow Texas operated shop. Now that I did need some contact information so I could fill out copyright transfer paperwork for them. -
I definitely agree with this stance. If someone came at me in this manner my response would likely be to kiss my entire ass, and they would get a block. People can't be "On" always.

Commissioned Bubbles at BLFC 2018 for a Colored Badge. I paid at the convention in cash. They emailed back very quickly to confirm the commission and get references. (They CC'ed everyone who had gotten a commission at the con). Their Trello was updated with a sketch of the badge. I didn't hear back from them though, and in November I sent a follow up message. They replied the badge was completed and being shipped out. Their Trello still only shows the sketch and I have no proof of its completion. I also did not get any tracking number or shipment details. I gave my address at the convention, but just to be sure, In December I sent my address once more. In January I sent a follow up. I also messaged them on Telegram - it is still not read. Finally in January I CC'ed everyone asking if they had heard from the artist. The artist also replied. I replied I'm happy to wait. Then in February I asked for an update. And then finally in February I asked for a refund. At this point it is not looking like I'll get either the commission or the Refund. This artist is not communicative, lied about the status of the badge and the shipping, missed multiple deadlines, and in all failed to deliver.

As the seller you are responsible for ensuring the item gets there or the client is made whole. If the art itself is delivered, and the client agrees to the refund of shipping then that's fine. If it's something like you're an etsy seller, then you're to replace their items or refund the whole order. With traditional artists and fursuit makers they either need to refund or remake. This is why insurance is extremely important.

3+ years wait and artist has vanished.

Howdy! Yes. It's about time to do so.
