Welcome to Artists Beware! I see old faces and new faces joining our community. So, now that the Livejournal has been officially closed, I think it's time to have an introduction. For those of you who are already familiar with staff you can skip this section and jump right down to site usability. Everything covered in this post will eventually be absorbed into various parts of the website when we have time. My name is Celestina. I'm one of two administrators for this site. The other is Xai. You can find who is staff from our staff page. For the time being please follow this order of contact while we get settled in: Administrators Technical issues with the website. We will determine if the problem can be fixed by us, or if it needs to be forwarded to our web admin. Conduct issues with our moderation staff, or if you are submitting a beware on them. Moderators are not immune to bewares on them, though we strive to have individuals who have good track records working for us. If by any chance you need to submit a beware on an Administrator (eep!!), contact the other one. We'll step out for discussion. If an administrator has sent you a rejection notice, you may respond if you need help. If you have a suggestion for a resource to go in the Resources section. Moderators General site usage questions. Submission related questions. "~* And that's the AB difference. *~" Those who are new may be asking what makes us different than any other site that handles bewares. Well, for one we are the oldest. We began operation in 2003 on Livejournal, and have been evolving ever since. Second, we utilize a tag system so everyone can make informed choices on who they should work with. We do not allow post deletions, as that would undermine the point of this resource. What we do have are resolved tags. Lastly, one of our points of pride is our submission standards that we hold everyone to if they wish to participate in the site. We ensure that: Posts are transaction based. No drama, no personal fights, just actual business transactions. All posts are moderated. Multiple people read over submissions to ensure they are clear, have proof, and are valid. There is no doxxing of anyone involved. Comments are also kept on task and appropriate. No flaming, no bad behavior. Only the individuals directly involved may submit. No group posts. No hearsay. What constitutes as a valid submission? A Beware: An active transaction where an individual has not received their end of a transaction or a refund. Either due to non delivery of a commission, trade, or fursuit. An item that was completed, but done improperly. The artist will not or has not fixed it despite them being the cause of the error. A client who has filed a fraudulent chargeback after receiving art. A finished transaction that is technically resolved, but one party's behavior was so poor that it warrants a beware. A Caution: A transaction that did not reach to the exchange stage due to poor behavior on one party's side. Caution posts must be recent. If an artist was rude to you two years ago, this will not be valid. We don't know if they're still behaving this way. Caution posts must have happened to you. Caution posts still must be transaction based. Your post may be rejected entirely at discretion of the staff. We will outline clearly why we are outright rejecting your post. There are no hard and fast rules, but we strive to be as fair as possible. For instance, we would not accept a beware where the primary crux was that the artist didn't want to be friends during a transaction. Archiving the Livejournal Site We are archiving the old Livejournal site by hand. It will be a slow going process, but it will get done. Please do not repost old bewares as it will slow us down. What Are Those Quality Contributor Statuses? You may notice a number of members commenting with a shiny gold star and a status called the "Quality Contributor". These are to indicate members who have proven themselves to be knowledgeable, and who have a long history of giving good advice. These are handed by by staff discretion, and for a little while you may see primarily people from Livejournal sporting this title. As time goes on and new faces hopefully get settled in, we may issue more. Site Usability Thank you for hanging in here with me. Now let's get to the good stuff. To submit a beware: Desktop: Hit the +Create button at the top of the page, select your database/ subcategory. Hit go! Mobile: Navigate to the subcategory you wish to submit to. (Either Artist Bewares, Client Bewares, Artist Cautions, Client Cautions) Then scroll down to the bottom of the page to find "Add New Record" Following Content That's Important to You You might notice these little buttons scattered around the site. They're on each forum, and each subcategory of the beware database. These allow you to indicate what you wish to be emailed about. You can mix and match your notifications to only email you about what you want to see. That Should Get You Started Thank you for reading this far. We hope to continue to be a valuable resource, and to evolve and grow over time. If you have any comments or questions feel free to comment here. I'll be around. Thank you https://twitter.com/dewdlepies

Hiya! We have considered it, but given that one moderator has just stepped down we are holding off. Xai and I would need to have individuals that we can trust that wouldn't pull resources from our mods that do queue work.

I ordered an icon commission from https://twitter.com/Skippy_Lynn. Skippy is extremely easy to work with, pleasant, and finished my commission lightning fast. (Delivery was same day! Wow!) My commission is attached. I requested an icon of my fursona doing the "polite cat" meme face.

If they're out of the 180 day time frame, then their only recourse is legal action. With that said, winning a judgement against someone doesn't mean they'll actually pay. ?

Still Submit a Beware Even If The Artist is Now Working On It?
Eden replied to 1337Scaly's topic in Site Questions
Hiya! Without seeing your post we can't make that determination, but you are welcome to submit anything you feel is relevant. If the artist does finish your commission, we will mark it as resolved. If you've been dragged along for a long time, it's still worthwhile to warn others. ? -
I'm sorry you got burned by him. He's, unfortunately, a repeat offender that goes back years. He burned me for a $30 story commission years ago, and I had to drag repayment out of him in the form of Flight Rising currency because I wasn't going to get cash back. His MO is to ignore you until you forget.

hyndrim (hyndrim) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2019-01-22 09:10 Subject: Beware: Werewolf-kun Where: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/werewolf-kun/ https://twitter.com/werewolfkun https://werewolf-kun.tumblr.com/ When: August 10 2018 Proof: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/55ckejsexz3sspt/AADNpTopkcnP3rc-ijEk8b1Ma?dl=0 Explain: While at Furrydelphia I was looking to grab a new badge while waiting in line for the dealer's den to open up one person in front of me recommended Werewolf-kun to do the badge, after looking at what everyone else had to offer I grabbed a full body badge from them. The next day, me and the person I'm rooming with went into the dealer's den again just to look around and the artist noticed me and said the badge would get done by Sunday which I honestly was exacting based on the last I gotten. Skipping to the last day and about 30mins until the den was closed, I saw them nearly packed up and asked what's going on with the badge. Artist said their laminator broke, would have to finish it at home and would put in a few stickers and/or buttons as compensation for the extra wait. In hindsight I should have just asked for it as is and could have it laminated myself. Little over a week later (August 19th.) the artist got in touch with me on telegram stating they been working like crazy since they got back from the con, didn't think to much of it since my job was doing the same thing. Told me they would have it shipped out starting that Wednesday. Was able to get a hold of the artist on December 18th however things that where said didn't line up with things mentioned at the con or what little was said on telegram along with the last I checked the school holiday break only lasted till the new year. At this point giving them five weeks to get the badge done when they said they could have it done by Sunday at the con, failing to ship it out the first time and should have said the badge got damaged when/if it happened. If I didn't pay in cash I would have called my credit card company and forced a refund awhile ago.

This isn't a bug. The editor is pasting in your text as rich text. If you want to avoid this you can paste it in as plain text, and it should give you the option to do so when you paste something in. It'll be a very small pop up that shows up near the bottom of the editor.

Gallery: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/straviios Twitter: https://twitter.com/straviios I've worked with Stravii for the past few years, and he has been an absolute treasure to work for. He delivers clear, concise prompts and responds quickly to my requests for feedback. He pays on time, and in the transactions we've had to do partial payments he's paid without me asking for the next payment. Stravii has been a wonderful repeat client that I've been very privileged to work for.

Hang tight. We'll be making a forum.

Howdy! Bewares > Positive Reviews Currently we aren't accepting them until we lay down some ground rules to prevent issues with people spamming positive reviews in response to a beware.

What do you think of these types of auctions?
Eden replied to Mortymaxwell's topic in Advice for Commissioners
It's different I'll say. I'd approach it the way I'd approach art prices normally: if clients are willing to pay good for them. If the market considers it ridiculous then the market won't bid. It's something I personally wouldn't participate in though. -
Yeup, I had someone say they wanted Clients and Artists split, so I made subcategories and then subsequently broke the front page. Sorry!

charliessd (charliessd) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2019-01-15 12:09 Solomon King Thompson WHO : his nickname is Solomon King Thompson / siwell16 aka Nigel Porter, etc you name it. In this case, the commissioner / client has committed a theft. He has a lot of different names. He contacted me by this email [email protected] [email protected] (his paypal) WHERE : https://www.freelancer.com/u/siwell16 https://plus.google.com/u/0/117527282677078313904?prsrc=4 WHAT : Digital art for business purpose (t-shirt design for mass produce) WHEN : September 18th, 2018 EXPLAIN : hello, i have been scammed by a client recently. I thought i want to share it with the others artist to warn them.He first approached me via 3rd party work website & then contacted my email called [email protected] / Solomon King Thompson . He was looking for artist with anime style to design his t-shirt, he saw my portfolio & interested in working with me. I replied him that i can work with him if agreed with my ToS. I gave him the link to my price list & ToS in it (which stated that the client has to pay right away after i showed them the first draft) He used a trick where he paid for the first work and then he said he's very satisfied with my work & asking for more commission, pretending wanted to work with me for a long term. The first commission went pretty smoothly (even though he's bit late for the payment). After the first commission was completed, he asked for the second one. I quote him $XX+ for the work & he agreed and said will do the payment soon. For the second commission i gave him the work first because he need the work to be completed asap (next week) and promised to pay on Friday (2 Oct 2018) & i thought he can be trusted since it's his second commission , yet on the due date there’s no news came from him. He didn't reply after i gave him the work & asking for payment. He replied in between 8 Oct when i asked if he wanted to cancel the commission after that, he didn't bother to open & reply my email from 12 Oct - 29 Oct 2019. He only replied after i warned him that if he doesn't reply my message shortly after 24hr I will make this public. I've been really generous to extend his payment due more than 10 weeks. What makes it worse, recently he open a dispute/report to his previous payment that make my account got locked for some reason & i can't access my paypal, despite i have sent the high-resolution file & he said he satisfied with my work. He chooses to run away from his problem & didn’t even try to resolve it until now thus i decided to make this public so you can watch out for him if he's approaching you. if any of you were commissioned him by any chance. It'll be safer to just reject him. Don't fall for his trick pretending to be a good client. He only “paid” for the first work just to make us trust him (also his paypal email look way too fishy [email protected]) . He might be still out there looking an artist to draw him 2B, bowsette & another lewd female character ..for his T-shirt design .. *edit 2019 : I saw an upwork post stating looking for lewd anime style character for t-shirt here https://www.upwork.com/jobs/_~014e58b8f2f291e674/. Please be warry. From what i know according to the conversation we had he need 4 design for his t-shirt. I have completed one and a half of the design. So there are 2-3 design left needed. If any of you see this image used around for merchandise please let me know https://imgur.com/M8lzaEb https://imgur.com/BOEQU0i PROOF : https://i.imgur.com/XKkUeAu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dhIOZxR.png https://i.imgur.com/DKXE6ro.png https://i.imgur.com/uNzneHW.png https://i.imgur.com/PPnbApE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4Qf0L4X.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RvMLYzg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pHb4C3S.jpg https://i.imgur.com/D8pvVKz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xteyNOo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UVPcb9B.png https://i.imgur.com/8zJcJQS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eSu4T5H.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LfZ07SE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kVfGzPo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Wfj7rPI.jpg

I would avoid a chargeback for the time being, and instead issue an ultimatum. If they fail to deliver the full res by a specified time, then you will have to file a dispute via Paypal. Also just to be sure, did you check your spam folders? The amount you should dispute for is honestly up for debate. As for the hair color: It's good business to correct it, but given that you approved it the artist may decline depending on their ToS. What does their ToS say about edits? If it were me, I'd happily fix something like this for a client, but not everyone's coloring styles allow for easy editing.

Is making a post as "Resolved" always an appropriate action?
Eden replied to HaruTotetsu's topic in Site Questions
The post was marked as resolved by staff because the client received a refund. While the client may not feel the post is resolved, the fact of the matter is that it was. An artist is free to issue refunds as they see fit, and they are within their rights to no longer want to talk to someone. In the end it seemed like the crux of the issue was no longer about the issue of communication and art, which is not what we're here for. And forcing a beware to stay open because someone doesn't want to talk anymore on a personal level isn't going to fly. If we have to lock comments, then we will leave instructions on how to contact us to get a resolve tag issued or to issue updates. Comment locking should be a last resort sort of deal when both parties are being spectacularly bad. If there is ever a situation where the poster is refusing options for resolution for the sake of leaving the beware open, then the bewaree may contact us with proof and we will issue a resolved tag with a note stating they have tried everything to fix the issue. It has happened, and someone shouldn't be forced to keep a beware tag because the submitter doesn't want to budge. If submitters make their posts unresolvable through their own behavior, then we will resolve it for them with a note attached. (Or we simply won't accept it in the first place, which has happened.)
