  1. It's different I'll say. I'd approach it the way I'd approach art prices normally: if clients are willing to pay good for them. If the market considers it ridiculous then the market won't bid. It's something I personally wouldn't participate in though.
  2. Yeup, I had someone say they wanted Clients and Artists split, so I made subcategories and then subsequently broke the front page. Sorry!
  3. Divided both current bewares and archive bewares into "Artist" and "Clients"
  4. charliessd (charliessd) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2019-01-15 12:09 Solomon King Thompson WHO : his nickname is Solomon King Thompson / siwell16 aka Nigel Porter, etc you name it. In this case, the commissioner / client has committed a theft. He has a lot of different names. He contacted me by this email [email protected] [email protected] (his paypal) WHERE : https://www.freelancer.com/u/siwell16 https://plus.google.com/u/0/117527282677078313904?prsrc=4 WHAT : Digital art for business purpose (t-shirt design for mass produce) WHEN : September 18th, 2018 EXPLAIN : hello, i have been scammed by a client recently. I thought i want to share it with the others artist to warn them.He first approached me via 3rd party work website & then contacted my email called [email protected] / Solomon King Thompson . He was looking for artist with anime style to design his t-shirt, he saw my portfolio & interested in working with me. I replied him that i can work with him if agreed with my ToS. I gave him the link to my price list & ToS in it (which stated that the client has to pay right away after i showed them the first draft) He used a trick where he paid for the first work and then he said he's very satisfied with my work & asking for more commission, pretending wanted to work with me for a long term. The first commission went pretty smoothly (even though he's bit late for the payment). After the first commission was completed, he asked for the second one. I quote him $XX+ for the work & he agreed and said will do the payment soon. For the second commission i gave him the work first because he need the work to be completed asap (next week) and promised to pay on Friday (2 Oct 2018) & i thought he can be trusted since it's his second commission , yet on the due date there’s no news came from him. He didn't reply after i gave him the work & asking for payment. He replied in between 8 Oct when i asked if he wanted to cancel the commission after that, he didn't bother to open & reply my email from 12 Oct - 29 Oct 2019. He only replied after i warned him that if he doesn't reply my message shortly after 24hr I will make this public. I've been really generous to extend his payment due more than 10 weeks. What makes it worse, recently he open a dispute/report to his previous payment that make my account got locked for some reason & i can't access my paypal, despite i have sent the high-resolution file & he said he satisfied with my work. He chooses to run away from his problem & didn’t even try to resolve it until now thus i decided to make this public so you can watch out for him if he's approaching you. if any of you were commissioned him by any chance. It'll be safer to just reject him. Don't fall for his trick pretending to be a good client. He only “paid” for the first work just to make us trust him (also his paypal email look way too fishy [email protected]) . He might be still out there looking an artist to draw him 2B, bowsette & another lewd female character ..for his T-shirt design .. *edit 2019 : I saw an upwork post stating looking for lewd anime style character for t-shirt here https://www.upwork.com/jobs/_~014e58b8f2f291e674/. Please be warry. From what i know according to the conversation we had he need 4 design for his t-shirt. I have completed one and a half of the design. So there are 2-3 design left needed. If any of you see this image used around for merchandise please let me know https://imgur.com/M8lzaEb https://imgur.com/BOEQU0i PROOF : https://i.imgur.com/XKkUeAu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dhIOZxR.png https://i.imgur.com/DKXE6ro.png https://i.imgur.com/uNzneHW.png https://i.imgur.com/PPnbApE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4Qf0L4X.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RvMLYzg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pHb4C3S.jpg https://i.imgur.com/D8pvVKz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xteyNOo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UVPcb9B.png https://i.imgur.com/8zJcJQS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eSu4T5H.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LfZ07SE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kVfGzPo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Wfj7rPI.jpg
  5. I would avoid a chargeback for the time being, and instead issue an ultimatum. If they fail to deliver the full res by a specified time, then you will have to file a dispute via Paypal. Also just to be sure, did you check your spam folders? The amount you should dispute for is honestly up for debate. As for the hair color: It's good business to correct it, but given that you approved it the artist may decline depending on their ToS. What does their ToS say about edits? If it were me, I'd happily fix something like this for a client, but not everyone's coloring styles allow for easy editing.
  6. The post was marked as resolved by staff because the client received a refund. While the client may not feel the post is resolved, the fact of the matter is that it was. An artist is free to issue refunds as they see fit, and they are within their rights to no longer want to talk to someone. In the end it seemed like the crux of the issue was no longer about the issue of communication and art, which is not what we're here for. And forcing a beware to stay open because someone doesn't want to talk anymore on a personal level isn't going to fly. If we have to lock comments, then we will leave instructions on how to contact us to get a resolve tag issued or to issue updates. Comment locking should be a last resort sort of deal when both parties are being spectacularly bad. If there is ever a situation where the poster is refusing options for resolution for the sake of leaving the beware open, then the bewaree may contact us with proof and we will issue a resolved tag with a note stating they have tried everything to fix the issue. It has happened, and someone shouldn't be forced to keep a beware tag because the submitter doesn't want to budge. If submitters make their posts unresolvable through their own behavior, then we will resolve it for them with a note attached. (Or we simply won't accept it in the first place, which has happened.)

Initially they had an error with the payment due to an unstable connection,I had given them time to rectify this error as I had other clients drafts to handle. More hindrances came about, ranging from being in the hospital, handling holiday related expenses and once again running into more transaction errors when reminded of the invoice a month and a half after the commission had been completed. I will openly admit to having handled it poorly on my behalf by not enforcing my pay up front policy; however, having given them more than enough time to have the transaction handled, being promised it would be handled at the moment of being reminded, and finally being told of a similar transaction error or simply getting no response until asked again, their credibility has been damaged and I'm unable to say that they're pleasant to do business with. PROOF: Gallery detailing the initial transaction, error and eventual resolving https://imgur.com/a/afyOXUR
  8. Ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no that's a mistake.
  9. I personally would not as it would read to me like they aren't professional, and I do not think it's appropriate to ask. Much in the same way I would not appreciate a client pressing for details if I needed to cancel. If someone makes a habit of canceling transactions and asking for refunds, then I'd probably blacklist them for the inconvenience.
  10. What is the screenshot pointing out?
  11. Alright y'all let's keep this focused on the beware, not the ethics of tracing.
  12. This looks like fair pricing if not slightly under charged, but as you said this is a base price to be moved up if a client has a more complex character. Your style is lovely.
  13. ryai1 (ryai1) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2019-01-12 21:15 Commissioner Beware - Lemonadeadopts WHO: Lemonadeadopts WHERE: FurAffinity: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/lemonadeadopts/ WHAT: 4-page multi-panel comic WHEN: September 17th — January 2019 EXPLAIN: Primarily I commissioned Lemonadeadopts back in September after a previous commission. I had received a deadline of October for this one but sadly that was delayed. I questioned the artist about it a few times after that and the days kept getting pushed further and further back before finally when it came to being asked last week (after failing to complete the commission back on Christmas) as they promised to complete it Monday. They were not in discussion at all and I'm afraid I felt as if I was waiting way too long without any real response so I had to issue a refund. Following months of asking for updates or any signs of life and only being pushed back more and more and more, I'm a bit exhausted of waiting... I'm tired of attempting to comment or note them to little avail until they say "Hey, my internet was out for x long." But, as an artist myself you don't really need the internet to use most programs or continue drawing. PROOF: https://i.imgur.com/0TIydmg.png (Proof of downpayment / half payment for full price) https://imgur.com/a/igMIQGy (proof of initial transaction and any updates to reach me by Sunday back in October) ( Read more... ) https://i.imgur.com/jIrM6Py.png (Note transactions promising they'd get the commission done back in December 'in 3-days' and then "dedicating Monday to finishing it" just yesterday, there was no response from the artist all of Monday) </lj-cut>

You would be correct. We were under the assumption that users could still see their hidden comments like on the old site, but upon further testing the "mod note" option is simply for us for personal notes. We will have to pm users manually for rejected comments.

I attached a moderator note explaining why. We do not accept excessive personal information. Please review our commenting rules. Artist to artist that kind of information really isn't the client's problem. There was nothing stopping you in that time from contacting them about a personal delay.
  16. I get a lot of work through a single apparel company, and this is exactly the kind of agreement I send them at the close of every transaction.
  17. This is the mirror from a Livejournal post, but I'll point the OP to this.
  18. Alex has fixed an issue where users were unable to sign up unless they linked their Twitter account. Please let us know if you're experiencing this problem.
  19. If you run into any bugs please put it here.
  20. Your feelings are definitely valid as it is your friend's job to make sure to keep track of what you are owed. Unfortunately there's not going to be an easy solution to this. You know your friend's personality better than us, so how do you think your friend would react? Either way a good friend should be able to hear you out that you feel concerned that you're having to do the legwork for them. You wouldn't be out of line to have a polite conversation with them about how your friend is lacking in organization, and now you want a time frame for completion of your work or a refund.

YAY YOU ARE THE BEST! ❤️

  23. Added submission guidelines. Added a light theme (thanks Alex!) Added rules page. Tag searching information is now on bewares. I broke the slider, but added in a new slide for "So, you've been posted to Artists Beware" (don't tell Alex I broke the slider) Slider is fixed, reduced in size, and has a longer delay between slides. About US page added Commenting rules now in an announcement rather than cluttering beware page.
  24. It would most likely be a beware. But submitters don't have to worry about trying to categorize their submission. We'll do that for you.
