Due to personal issues I will not get into detail about, she was unable to finish. She also sent me what she had made for the price of shipping. It's unfortunate that she wasn't able to complete the commission, but I give her some serious props for providing a full refund and sending what she had made. WHO: Canine Kuroki/Kuroki Yami/HoneyspydeR WHERE: https://www.facebook.com/CanineKuroki/ http://www.furaffinity.net/user/kurokiyami/ https://www.deviantart.com/honeyspyder WHAT: Fursuit partial WHEN: Initial contact: July 16th, 2016 First Payment: July 24th, 2016 First Loss of Contact: September 16th, 2016 Second Loss of Contact: December 21st, 2016 EXPLAIN: So, I contacted Yami through Facebook in July to ask for a quote. She responded pretty quickly and all conversation until September was quick, taking no more than a week for replies. She would send occasional WIP photos and I was happy [1]. My first payment via PayPal was on July 24th and the second one was on September 6th [2]. She was fine with how the payment plan was and there were no disputes whatsoever. ( Read more... ) But then, she just seemed to drop off the face of the Earth. I’d contact her about once a month to try and see what was going on [3]. Her Facebook page never updated and I had no other ways of contacting her. So, I sent a dispute into PayPal in December for both of my payments. She then responded to them fairly quickly, apologizing for her lack of communication. She then offered to give a partial refund, promised to improve her communication, and promised some extra goodies when I got the suit (Unfortunately, I do not have any screenshots of our conversation through PayPal, though I have tried to get them recently). I accepted and she sent a refund [4]. She also recommended I use her email, which she gave me, in order to contact her more efficiently. Unfortunately, I was naïve and dropped both cases, saying they were resolved (because at the time I thought they were). She sent one last set of WIP photos within a week, then disappeared again afterwards [5]. To this day, I’ve contacted her about once a month to try and get her back. I have contacted her through every form of media I could find, including FA and DA. I have threatened, though not followed through with demanding a refund and taking legal action. To be honest, I don’t know how I would go about doing all that, I just wanted to get her attention. I honestly just want my fursuit. I’m hoping that someone out there can help. 1: FB First WIP 3 (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Rqi1veWRSJZwXyHUa7aaRphusWzxVfe) 2: InkedPayPal Payment 1_LI and InkedPayPal Payment 2_LI (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lo0tY1x5KwHZ2lMfTKs1tvpOSe5LMUV4) 3: Everything in the Facebook folder titled “Lost Contact” (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Rqi1veWRSJZwXyHUa7aaRphusWzxVfe) 4: InkedPayPal Refund_LI (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lo0tY1x5KwHZ2lMfTKs1tvpOSe5LMUV4) 5: InkedEmail Sent 12_17_16 - 12_21_16_LI (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16_NkSjpftzPa0etb1Sh2o6YmmF20XKM_) PROOF: PayPal: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lo0tY1x5KwHZ2lMfTKs1tvpOSe5LMUV4 Emails: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16_NkSjpftzPa0etb1Sh2o6YmmF20XKM_ FurAffinity: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L8BUFSDmPU8W7CeEsKYiaw561QNEkdde Facebook: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Rqi1veWRSJZwXyHUa7aaRphusWzxVfe DeviantArt: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1aza_Pfcm-wV6f2DnOw2rpNcVFi-ldddx

I bought a commission after asking if the character would be doable, she said it was fine. Over the next year or so I asked for updates multiple times, she assured me she would get to it, but never offered anything as an update, over that period of time she had drawn hundreds of pieces of personal art, and had also opened up commissions again several times, always claiming it was from a bank problem. Now if it was something huge like a poster or animation that I paid for I could understand the wait, but I can't believe she would be so busy she can't do a sketch over a period of a year and 2 months. I had asked some people familiar with her work about it in private, and had been told this is something she does very often, only prioritizing things involving her characters and putting off everything else indefinitely. She doesn't seem like an inherently bad person to me, but going off of this her work ethic is horrendous, I would advise against commissioning anything from her unless you want to wait a very long time. They also changed their usernames various times throughout the course of this interaction, so screenshots may not match up exactly with what I've written. ( Read more... ) July 15 - I commissioned the user hitchedboy on the petsite Flight Rising for a 2-character digital painting, which was paid for using site currency in the form of items. [1] Payment was sent using Flight Rising's 2-way trade system. Weeks passed without word, and their FR profile indicated that they hadn't logged in to FR at all since a few days after I last heard from them. With this avenue of communication closed, I started seeking an alternate way to contact them, and found their Instagram account (which was also under the username hitchedboy at the time. The link on their profile led to a DeviantArt name of jaoqy.) August 27th - I messaged hitchedboy on Instagram to inquire about a turnaround time for my commission. They said they had lost their FR login info but were still willing to do the art for me. They informed me that their preferred method of contact was Discord. [2] August 28th - Our correspondence moved to Discord. I provided them with the commission info again since they stated they lost access to their FR account. I was told that I could check in with them "as much as I wanted" and that my art would be finished in "most likely only a week." [3] September 5th - A week later, I asked to see a sketch. hitchedboy said they weren't at their computer and would send it to me in 2-3 hours. I gave them an extra 4 hours before poking them again. They told me to message them again to remind them in 5 hours; I did so and received no response at all. (Time discrepancy in their message is due to hitchedboy being in the GMT+10 timezone and myself in GMT-5.) Though I was irritated at being brushed off, I decided to give them some time. [4] September 22nd - Life got in the way and I wasn't able to touch base with hitchedboy before this date. I told them the reason for my delay; they responded with a situation curiously similar to mine, and informed me they had completed the base colors on the art. I had not seen so much as a sketch from hitchedboy at this point, despite being promised one several times over. I felt uneasy and asked them to show me the art at its current stage for approval before progressing - again, my message was ignored. [5] September 29th - I logged into Discord, saw that hitchedboy was online, and shot them a message. They immediately switched their status to "offline." (I don't have a screenshot of this, sadly.) In response to this action, I asked them to just let me know if they no longer wanted to do the commission, as I needed it by a certain date and this would give me enough time to find a replacement artist. They assured me that they still fully intended to finish the art, citing extreme forgetfulness as an excuse for blowing me off in the past. They once again set a bizarrely unrealistic time frame - this time just 10 minutes - in which I should expect to see the art. At this point, I was severely doubting that any work had been completed at all, and sent a bit of a lengthy message expressing my frustration about being given the runaround time and again. An hour later, hitchedboy sent me a progress photo. This honestly surprised me, given that I'd been convinced that they hadn't even started, and the completion level seemed to me to be more than could be done in an hour. I informed them of corrections that needed to be made, making sure to be thorough since I didn't know if I would even get a chance to see another WIP before the picture was finished. [6] October 3rd-5th - I ensured that hitchedboy was aware of, and agreed to, the deadline for the piece. [7] October 21st - For the first time, hitchedboy sent me a progress update without being prompted. They said they hoped to have it done by the next day (of course, this didn't happen.) [8] October 24th - hitchedboy apologized for the delay, citing issues with the background. [8] October 30th-31st - The day before the due date, hitchedboy contacted me to say that the art was done, but they were unable to upload it. They claimed to be out of the house again and they would have someone else try to upload the picture while they were gone. Not only had I not gotten to see and approve the final product, I wasn't even told what website I should expect to find it on. In addition, I was extremely confused as to why they didn't just try a different site if they were having trouble with one in particular. I heard neither hide nor hair from them on the actual due date. [9] November 2nd-10th - I would otherwise have just written this off if not for the fact that they had actually completed a good deal of progress on the commission as per the one WIP I received, so continued to message hitchedboy in an attempt to just wrap up the whole ordeal. They claimed to have been in the hospital. No progress was made towards resolving the situation. [10] November 15th - I made another contact attempt on Discord, directly @'ing hitchedboy when I saw them appear as active. [11] While gathering up info to make this beware, I noticed that their Instagram username had been changed to oatiemeal. The account showed activity as of 10 hours earlier (no screenshot of this), and the link in their profile now led to a newly made DeviantArt page under the name seafowl. [12] The recent submissions in this gallery were pieces that had been completed and uploaded on November 3rd and subsequently, when they claimed to not have internet access. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I sent them a polite Instagram message. They responded only to request that I contact them on Discord, which I had been doing for the past 2 weeks. I admittedly lost my cool at this point, which I should not have done. Despite the fact that I knew they no longer used the website where the commission originated, I gave them a deadline to produce either the supposedly completed art or a refund. [13] To this date I have seen neither. (I also messaged them on Discord again as per their request, in case that would produce results somehow - it did not.) [14] I'm very upset because I was really looking forward to getting art from this artist. Quite frankly, I'm not too broken up about losing the payment for the commission, as I would much rather have the art. I can only count myself lucky that I paid in non-monetary currency, and hopefully they aren't doing this to customers on DeviantArt or Instagram as well. So here we go again. WHO: DevilAnney on FurAffinity. WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/devilanney/ WHAT: Character design and reference sheet WHEN: First started on September 30th, 2018 and has been ongoing. EXPLAIN: On September 30th, I had been browsing FA. I stumbled upon Anney's FA page where she had a character for sale, a green sabertooth tiger. After browsing, I saw she had been open for custom characters and I was interested in one as I wanted a saber of my own as well. She had given me her Discord to talk business. The character design itself was $10 and then, a couple minutes on, I asked about if I could have it made into a full reference sheet. She agreed and said the price would be $15 instead of $10. I agreed and was told I'd get two poses, a headshot, and a closeup of the characters paws. The character was going to be a saber, as well. We had agreed on the piece taking two days to complete. However, I don't have this exact proof since she deleted the post we discussed that on off of FurAffinity. However, later on in the messages it's pretty much implied as such by our conversation. I paid the $15 and the wait began. ( Read more... ) Two days later, I received a sketch of the character. She wasn't... really a saber but I loved her regardless. After I gave her the okay to continue, I didn't hear from her for another two days. At this point, she's already past her deadline she told me but a couple days wouldn't kill me. I didn't honestly expect it that quick, but still. On October 3rd, I messaged her and asked if there was any update. She told me she had been busy with other commissions and that she'd work on lining and then coloring the piece the next day. Fine by me. Two weeks went by without hearing a single thing from her. I messaged her again and asked asked about an update and she said that she had been busy with school and work now. I was then told I'd get an update when she got home from one of the two and I took that as an okay. I had a feeling things were getting sketchy at this point. I never got that update. Another week went by and I asked her what was up. I voiced how I was getting frustrated being told I'd get updates and progress but I never got any. All I got were empty promises. I then told her that I was starting to get to the point of asking for a refund. When I did, she REALLY started ignoring me. For two days, I got no response back. On the 21st of October, I messaged her again and asked if she was really going to start ignoring me. She then apologized and said she was going to go home and work on the picture. FINALLY I got an update. She sent a picture of the colored character and asked if it was fine. Just wanting my character and art done, I agreed and said that the colors were fine. From that point on, I've gotten NOTHING from her. On November 11th, I asked for an update. I got nothing. So on the 13th, I grew tired of it. I told her I wanted a refund as what she was doing was VERY unfair to me. I had given her plenty of time and chances and got nothing but empty promises and lies in return. On the same day, I filed a PayPal dispute to get my money back. She has not replied to any of the posts on PayPal. She has had time to post links to t-shirt designs she's selling which was posted four days ago, along with many other adopts. She's constantly online on Discord, as well, so I KNOW she's seeing my DM's. I also happened to go on her page and saw someone else asked her to reply to her Notes. UPDATE 11/25/2018: I started a PayPal dispute on November 11, 2018 and she never responded to it. Instead, she has vanished into thin air. She is no longer using Discord or she unfriended me. Not sure which. She has also deactived her FurAffinity and any other sites she used for art. Because she did not respond, I won the case and was given back my money. PROOF: PayPal Payment. Had to censor a ton because she used her real name on her PayPal and also had to censor my Credit Card info -> https://gyazo.com/22d34db7901cb9be377fd62fdc0d768f All the Discord conversations we've had about the business. I leave a comment asking for details, and they claim they never received my message. I emailed their new email address on the 2nd of November; I still haven't heard from them or seen an update on their Trello, which they update every few days, or their Twitter. Dog-bone accepts and finishes commissions every week on Patreon. Their Patreon price sheet lists their two contacts, so it's not as though they have multiple inboxes to check. I'm unsure if I should still press him for a refund seeing as he did the work, but I am now without even the unsatisfactory art. 9. Bourbon. (dead_punk_fox) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2018-11-01 15:47 Commissioner Beware - Prince_Vaxis WHO: Prince_Vaxis on FA, Vaxi on Discord WHERE: Through FA, then through Discord DMs WHAT: Commission fell through, he wanted to commission me for digital artwork to have one slot auctioned off. WHEN: October 29-30. EXPLAIN: At first I was hesitant to post a beware about this, but the more I thought about it the more obvious that his conduct was wildly inappropriate with me. A few of my associates (commissioners and artists) also felt a beware was necessary to warn other artists about him. Especially since it can be intimidating dealing with a client who has a good amount of watchers and commissions more well known artists, and it's common for artists to acquiesce to a client's demands because of these things. It started off as him claiming a slot on FA (since deleted) and then wanting to discuss it further via Discord, which I don't mind. I keep my Discord public and am fine talking to whoever. At first he wanted a bust commission, which would have fit within his budget. Then he waffled and decided he wanted a much larger idea, however he fought me every step of the way on cost. He was pushing for more and more to be included, things which are way outside the amount of time I have to devote for so little pay. At the end, I told him he was demanding way too much for what he was paying, because what he wanted was essentially a two character full color, which I charge $300 for per image. The end of it has him cursing me out, trying to call me over Discord (I assume to yell at me over voice, had this happened I would have recorded it as well), which I am EXTREMELY uncomfortable with and what really pushed me to write this beware. I don't voice chat in private with random people, and certainly not with someone who's behavior turned suddenly sour. It was likely an attempt to intimidate me into handing him a full refund (which I have done at this point). And him bringing up breaking his commissioner's TOS (??? which sounded extremely sketchy to me, since a TOS is a terms of service for the person providing a service). PROOF: Some of the screenshots do have NSFW art in them, this was him illustrating what he wanted. The conversation is also NSFW as it delves into the aspects he wanted included in the picture. Also included is the sketch work I had done for him that he didn't want to pay for. I apologize for how many screenshots there are, I wanted to include everything. The only part I left out was conversation about our pets and other casual stuff. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GhKNGZqpq0ZsFPMAmvPV1k8ZPuP9MxzC Edit: Update 4.12.19 I actually do have an addition to this caution. Several weeks ago another artist DM'd me on Twitter saying that Vaxis had told them he'd apologized to me and was trying to be a better person. He has NOT spoken to me since before he was removed from the original A_B LJ community. I have had absolutely no contact and he has not made any apologies to me. If he's messaging anyone claiming he has, he's lying.

I am fortunately able to salvage enough from our text chatlogs (that he didn't delete) that should be enough to piece together what happened . This person commissioned me for a design for his character, along with a reference sheet. I charged him $50, and since we were lovers, I told him to hold onto it so we could put it towards a commission for us both. We fell out, I lost my desire to take any commission with him, but he refused to give me my $50 back. To begin, Talen and I used to be in a relationship, and I was the one who introduced him to the scalie community. As a symbol of our love, I made for him, for free, a design for his character along with a reference sheet for it. I'd like to say here that the process of creating that reference sheet for him was painful, with me streaming the process of the art to him and creating design after design that he kept asking for tweaks or redesigns on, bouncing between every little detail asking me to make drastic changes again and again. Nevertheless, I completed it and sent him the finished file. The date was July 8. After a week of finishing the reference sheet, though, he asked for changes to the design, and along with some other personal disputes, I told him that I would charge him no less than $50, and he agreed. [1] Honestly, $50 for a full reference sheet at this quality is one hell of a deal, so to this day, the fact that he is unwilling to pay up is due to pettiness. I continued to stream to him, in the exact same process of him asking for change after change after change on the designs that I came up with. I finished up the reference sheet on July 30, and told him to hold on to the $50 so he could pay that much in my stead when we decide to go for a commission together. Fast forward to early August when he broke up with me for other relationship-related reasons. He still wanted to be friends, and though it hurt me, I continued to be friends with him, and he was still holding on to the $50 that he owes me. [2] Since then, throughout the next two months, I've made repeated mentions for him to just return me my $50, though every time he tried to convince me to just get a commission with him. He never denied it, but he knows he owes me $50. [3] Fast forward again to mid-October, I made a request of him to stop mentioning all the new friends he's trying to date because I was still hurting from the breakup, and he straight up flamed me in voice chat, in the most toxic manner one can imagine, all for being "soft" or "overreacting". At that point, I snapped, and demanded my $50 back, but he refused, going between excuses such as "I can pay you the $50, but I won't" to "I only have $7 in my bank account, I can't pay you", all between a lot of name-calling, flaming, and accusing me of "blackmail" (in his technical terms, "defamation for the purposes of monetary gain", which you can totally twist "I'll tell peeps you're a thief if you steal money from me" into). He proceeded to block me from all communications. [4][5] Upon contacting one of his friends who know him better, I learned that Talen is simply that way and that my $50 is lost. I have contacted another of his friends recently, who willingly acted as an arbiter between me and Talen, and given him an ultimatum: pay me, or stop using my design. At this point, Talen had removed my reference sheet from his gallery, and currently plans to use one of the art commissions he got from another artist as his new reference sheet, except that commission's character was fully taken from my design and refsheet. [1] July 26: https://i.imgur.com/zRfFAgj.png I have blacked out all things related to our personal issues; I can provide the non-censored text if inquired. [2] August 10: https://i.imgur.com/zx96ExG.png The "Option A" and "Option B" was, explained simply, "cut off contact from each other" and "remain friends and help each other recover" respectively. [3] August 10: https://i.imgur.com/7yULthl.png This one is where he suggests artists and I explain fully what I meant. In the end, it is still clear he owes me $50. I have blacked out the exact values that he had bragged about spending on commissions and toys already as well as how much he still had at the time. I have also blacked out other names and the segue into the discussion about our own personal issues. [4] October 18: https://i.imgur.com/Vs7uxB8.png This is our full conversation on FurAffinity directly after the last straw. Since they were all separate responses, I have taken the liberty to format the screenshots into a chatroom structure for the sake of readability; no content has been altered. Personal issues and discussions have been blacked out, except for the final one. [5] October 19: https://i.imgur.com/sLEJ1Dy.png These are excerpts from our final argument in a separate Discord server, highlighting his denial and hypocrisy. There have been many repeated mentions of "blackmail" and threatening legal action on his part that do not contribute to the discussion, so I have cut those out. I have also blacked out what he claimed to have in his bank account; the decimal place should tell you enough. Honestly, I was very angry at that point, so some things I said was cringe-worthy; I have left those in for the sake of context. There are lessons to be learned from this story, in particular for me. I have learned to recognize red flags that would ruin a relationship, and I have also learned that I should never provide the final finished commission without payment first, whether I trust the person on a romantic level or not. I understand that this may be a more "special" case of Artist Beware in that the business is intertwined with personal feud; I have tried my best to omit most of the personal stuff from my images, but some I have kept in due to their vague relation to the transaction at hand. Another thing I am unsure of is whether I should include the artwork in question in this post for clarity and also as proof in case he actually does continue to get commissions with the same character design. I'll edit it in underneath all this if you guys want me to. I currently plan on selling the character design and reference sheet to someone else with little to no changes to the actual design, since the design of the character is still mine.
  11. sergallysergal (sergallysergal) @ 2018-10-25 20:53 Just A Little Mixed Up WHO: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/just-a-little-mixed-up/ WHERE: Discord and Telegram WHAT: Eight flat pinups. WHEN: February 2018 to October 2018 EXPLAIN: Asked to buy 8 pieces in a discord we both shared. Was given an invoice, and gave her payments to the invoice(1) for the images she completed as she did them. First went pretty quick, the next one took a month, and the latest was not received until August. Between the second and third, she claimed she needed to get money together to move, and my response to that was to finish paying off the invoice completely. I also attempted to try to make the investment easier to handle by suggesting we switched out things, which is why I talked about getting a ref sheet instead of the last four pinups in the log. At the time I wanted to at least get something for the money I put down, and asking for a refund was the last resort. After that I waited a month assuming it would take that long, without response, until the artist asked for email communications in reply to an inquiry on telegram that I had sent her(2), which threw me off since we had been working through telegram for the majority of the work. I inquired about it, but complied and resent her the material she needed for the work to be done. ( Read more... ) Another month later (and three days ago) I tried getting in contact with her again, with no response.(3) After asking a mutual friend I learned that she's been refusing contact under claim that she will only respond to email. I was frankly, tired of my investment going nowhere so I sent an email asking for a refund for the 5 pieces that were never started. As of this post I have yet to receive any compensation, not even a reply.(4) Under the artist's ToS, linked here, the artist is responsible for keeping open communications to the best of her ability. This has unfortunately been broken seeing as she's still working on commissions while ignoring my inquiries, and with no faith that I will ever get a refund, I am washing my hands of this. 12. October 25 2018, 17:48 Artist Beware: Baasil I shall begin this with a little warning. I was uninformed about the actual stipulations of Paypal; I have always thought it was only 60 days, and not 120 days for buyer protection. With that said I was a bit assertive to this commissioned person. I thought my time was running out and dry, but this could have easily been resolved with some reassurance by this commissioned person. WHO: Baasil [http://www.furaffinity.net/user/baasil/] SpicyBaasil [https://picarto.tv/SpicyBaasil] WHERE: Stream: SpicyBaasil [https://picarto.tv/SpicyBaasil] WHAT: This was meant to be a quick icon and a full color commission that stretched at most a 2 or 3 week period as stated by the artist. WHEN: August 31, 2018 - October 21, 2018 EXPLAIN: The situation all started on August 31st 2018… I commissioned this artist in the early hours of 6am, but their stream ran short and they had been up all night for that day. They said they would complete my commission the following day. I am always forgiving and being an artist myself was totally fine with waiting until tomorrow. Tomorrow came, and nothing had been done. I did not expect the requested art of a full color commission the following day, but I did expect some progress on this icon we had discussed in stream before. Shortly after there was a Hurricane that struck their area, no damage other than power outages on Sept 9th … I went along with what they said to me in that journal, that they will be working offline for their owed art due to those who had worked with them prior to the storm. Being patient I waited until days passed. Sept 24th came I asked for n update since their queue listing isn’t quite listed anywhere I can find. My sketch was promised the week of Sept 24th September 24th was a Monday and the 29th would be the end of this week After these following messages my patience became stale and I had to be a bit more blunt as I have seen little to no action by this artist to do their duties. I was giving the benefit of the doubt to them and letting them tackle on a new icon since it’s been rough times. Again another false promise “tomorrow” my patience is already running thin by now. As I do not want this artist do to any more work than is required I wanted to make it clear that this is replacing what we had previously discussed. Now comes the true fallout and where I feel insulted by this artist. [for some reason it has “RE” even tho this is initial messages] This is the point where I thought I am running out of buyers protection and being a bit more blunt with this artist. Tomorrow promises yet again still being forgiving to this artist as I know how times can be tough. Confirming and thanking on the new family member, at this point it has been a total of 46 days from initial commissioning. The icon was meant to be done the DAY after I commissioned them, and the art was to be done in 14/21 days from commission date. Things turn sour~ It was at this point that I thought my buyers protection was running out and thought 60 days was the final cut off for my protection. This could have been so easily retorted by the artist letting me know I had 180 days but they decided to go a different route. Their claim is that they have had my work done, but I do not believe them. I have no means of guaranteeing or not that they had my work done. I also felt sympathy for them because I do commission work too but of a different kind. This was the most insulting thing of our interaction. As a client it is not my duty to keep notes on what you as a professional artist are owing me. This is a blurry pic just where we had a verbal agreement of work we had done. It’s the best I could do I am sorry. Their vod was low resolution. They got the idea of me being under the YCH through my personal Furaffinity Page. As I thought my time was running out I had to pressure them. Things got hostile. They got really mad at me, granted I was being very direct and blunt. I was just tired of hearing the three or four confirmations of getting my art done “this week” // “tomorrow” that I was basically done with this whole situation and wanted my money back. This is where things turned sour and I lost trust in this person. The fact that they are threatening defaming my name even tho my only fault was being assertive made me wary of their intentions. “Rest of refund, you’re even making money on it because I can’t be bothered to figure out fees. If you still action, I will be pursuing theft by deception charges and reporting to FA. :D” After issuing a 30 USD charge when I specifically told them the amount. After this moment I just refunded both their initial 10 usd and their 30 dollars sent. The saga ends there. This was the worst interaction I’ve ever had with an artist in my time on Furafinity. Could have simply been reassured by some condolences to me. Letting me know I had extra time vs when i assert myself threatening defamation. I am not sure what circles they run with, but hopefully I am blocked by anyone who sides with their antics. PROOF: Inline linking as conversation goes on, but will include all here in order of all my messages on FA. https://i.imgur.com/B3xOVqw.jpg

Ordered earlier in the month, and waited in a queue. It was very short, considering how much work she had, and she was so polite and sweet by apologizing for the wait, when it really wasn't bad in any manner. 4. My frist ref sheet~ :D Based on a picture or two that I gave her, and maybe a short written description, she nailed Aunburian's look perfectly. I was taken aback by how perfectly she'd gotten my gryphonchica to look! So fast too, perhaps literally over night and it was done. And the artist is an absolute sweetheart to boot. Ive never had fun having quick, tiny chats with an artist like I did with her. Especially from such an incredibly talented artist, as they can come across as a bit intimidating at times, she was just amazing, and by the end I just wanted to give her a hug. haha http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5949168 unicorn_magic Jun. 21st, 2011 04:47 pm (local) hunter_san/weavermage 1. hunter_san/weavermage 2. I rarely commission other artists, because usually when I want something panned out on a canvas, I do it myself. However, I'm too busy with commissions atm to really produce something nice for myself. So I asked PurpleKecleon to do a Pokemon-themed picture for me. Waited for about a month, but the wait was worth it (I think she had a fairly large list anyway). Anywho, the picture she made for me was just eye-candy in all aspects. I actually found myself drawn towards the fire and the water more in the image then the characters themselves. Expensive commission, but worth every penny. I submitted my request for commission and was given a slot and told it would be a 'couple of weeks'. Unfortunately after that the communication only happened when I started it. I do understand she has a very hectic schedule but it felt as if I was being pushed to the wayside. When I did finally receive my piece it looked a bit rushed and not quite as I had hoped. I do understand artistic licensing but there was a significant difference between my reference photographs and the final product. I did tell her, once I received it, that I loved it.. because the relief at getting the final project made me jump at giving her some feedback, however after I had time to look at the finer details I realized that it wasn't quite as I'd wanted (as example the necklace looking like it was copied from the reference photo, pasted on and then given a filter to give it a similar appearance). A message explaining this was sent to her and I'm now waiting for acknowledgment that it was even received. Will update when further communication is received and/or issue resolved. ? Edit: Artist has made contact and explained details satisfactorily. I consider this event closed/handled. ?
  15. I've been in contact with her since making this post and I believe we'll be working things out just fine! I'm going to put the entry behind a LJ cut but other than that will not be editing it or deleting it in any way for the sake of the community rules and what not, thank you! WHO: LadyAvali WHERE: LadyAvali and Altana on DeviantArt, Avali on tumblr WHAT: $20 Digital Sketch Commissions WHEN: April 20th - commissions open and paid for. Last communication on May 19th. PROOF: Various screenshots of the dates mentioned below in case of deletion: Journal #1 - Journal #2 - Journal #3 - Journal #4 - My last communication with her - Note about her moving accounts EXPLAIN: Back on April 20th, she posted a DevArt Journal saying she was doing some very lovely sketch commissions for $20 USD. She had 15 slots, so at $20 a pop, that's a hefy $300 all in advance - I believe the slots were cleared out in less than 24 hours. Now, I have never paid for a commission 100% in advance - sometimes I'll pay after a sketch phase or when the piece is half done - but this was my first time paying in advance. I normally wouldn't have, but she has done this style of commission before and it seemed to go very well, so I thought it would be okay. On April 23rd, she posted on DevArt that she was going out of town for the weekend and would be "having a livestream on Monday" to get these knocked out. On May 3rd, she posted on DevArt that the bad weather was keeping her from working on commissions. I understand tornados, bad weather, etc - I live in Tornado Alley myself - but considering that was 10 days after she posted about just being gone for the weekend... On May 18th, she once again posted that the 'last few commissions' were going out. By this point, I had sent her a polite message asking if she had any updates about how long the sketches would take. The day after she made that journal, on May 19th, she sent me a note on DA asking for my reference info again (even though it was in that first post, like all other references). I sent it back to her that same day and I have heard nothing from her since. I have sent her one other polite message since then just asking for an update. Today, I stopped by DeviantArt again just to see if she had responded, and although she has not posted anything on her account, the user GoblinCrusher94 has gone around posting that she's "got a new account and this one is dead" on her comments. The new account is the one I linked to above, Altana (which actually seems like it's an old account she left, then returned to - or at least is planning to return to. It's very confusing). And of course on top of this, she is updating her art tumblr rather constantly. I'm not sure how many out of those 15 people haven't received their art, but I know for SURE at least one other hasn't, user nosebleeds, because he is a dear friend of mine and we've both been complaining about this a bit together, heh. I have no problem waiting a bit for commissions, I really don't - as long as the line of communication is kept open. When an artist stops responding all together to messages, changes DevArt accounts, doesn't update about it on her Journal and I KNOW I'm not the only one that got screwed... well. I think it's at least time to step up and say something. It doesn't help that it was a pre-paid commission, so like I said - if none of the 15 people have received their sketches, that's $300 she's basically pocketed while we all wait for our art not even knowing what Deviant Art account she's on these days. (sorry if this is a little tl;dr! I try to be as thorough as possible when I do something like this!)

I do, however, have some screencaps of a few PMs sent to her on DA and can certainly explain what happened February 28, 2010: I paid her $20 for the pic March 6, 2010: I've watched her starting on the pic on Livestream, and all was fine (though she did take a break from it). I asked her to work more of it tomorrow and she agree March 12, 2010: Here’s the pic’s current state (as retrieved from one of her journals on DA) http://i39.tinypic.com/k6kvk.jpg Since then, I’ve been contacting her on MSN, asking if she’s working on the commission and her response is “Yeah, I’m working on it.” Unfortunately, I still hadn’t got the finished version of the drawing since the updated one March 13, 2011: a year later, I’ve sent her a PM on DA regarding my commission since several months have passed Unfortunately, it’s read and ignored. Weird March 22, 2011: Since 9 days past and the note is left unanswered, I’ve sent her another PM, but only this time, I politely asked her to either finish the pic altogether or refund if she didn’t had it finished (ignore the fact that I wrote $32 instead of $20 in the PM) The response: My reply: So here am I am, keeping my fingers crossed for it to be finished for good... but I haven't heard from her since then. She hasn't been on FA or DA since April 30 I know she has a busy time moving to a new house and has no internet, but I really don't wanna be left screwed over EXPLAIN: I’ve known her and adored her art for a long time, but I’m not too happy about her taking too long on the commission I paid $20 for and not finishing it (though she did finished two other commissions I paid for, which is good). Usually, I don’t mind having mildly tardy/late commissions and I always remind artists the pics I paid for (heck, I waited, like, nearly two years very patiently for one artist to finish a commission and got an extra pic to make up for the long wait), but having to pay $20 for a commission and waiting for a year without the final product? I’m... quite bewildered So Larka is quite tardy on the commission updates, implied that she’ll get around working on it (as I politely told her on IMs), and sometimes ignores PMs (regarding commission updates) after reading them (methinks she’s a little tough to contact via PMs). My deepest apologies for not having enough screencaps On different note to Larka: I deeply apologize for making this AB complaint about you, but I still haven’t received the final version of the commission that you promised you’d get around to. Whether I actually got the final product or not, whether you refund $20 or not, I probably won’t be commissioning you again. Sorry ? please note that that this was NOT an attack on Larka and her artistic reputation. I honestly didn't mean to do so, and yet she's angry at me for this and mentions that I've disrespected her. What she said about me was a lesson to me to not start drama like this anymore

XD Here's the thing: I popped open FA after a near-three-month hiatus back on the 25th and poured through my notes, found yours - I do have your commission, inked, lying around here somewhere, but it's anyone's guess as to which pile of artwork it's in. I thought I'd have some spare time this weekend to sift around and find it, but that proved not to be the case. You've got a few options: 1). Give me a bit of time to sort through my paperwork and find the inked item; I'll scan it and pass it off to you to see if you feel it's worth me moving forward with completion. 2). I do recall this image not being something I was terribly happy with and had a much better idea a while after I first got to work on it. Another option is to give me a little while to whip out that other idea and go from there, though it seems we're well past the point of discussing revisions. 3). Take the full refund. I know Exo to some extent and I read that as him being witty, but at the same time I recognize that society (agree or disagree, it is what it is) demands professionalism when dealing in business venues so, yes. There is a time and place. kairi_koitra May. 31st, 2011 08:58 am (local) Same I know exo personally. He isn't trying to come off as rude it's just his sarcastic way of doing things. Many times I think commissioners tend to neglect to look at artists journals and posts reading the normal way the communicate. Sometimes you'll often see commissioners complain about rude or nasty artists but yet at the same time this is how the artist has always been and acts. You can't fault a person for the way they normally are. He's like this with everyone this is exo being exo. He doesn't hide it nor does he try to sho it under the rug. While I can agree he took awhile to get back with the commissioner things happen. It's not an excuse nor does it mean I'm shaking his responcibility to do the work he was paid to do but artists are human to sometimes they forget things and sometimes life just gets in the way. Personally he owes me two works as well but i'm not sweating it he'll get to it when he gets to it. He's probably one of the most critical artists I know he critizies everything he does and redoes things twenty times and still isn't happy with it. But thats how he works he doesn't want to give a commissioner a steaming hot pile of penciled out *crap* but to give them something worth what they paid him to do. Which both he and the commissioner both will be happy. Thats the sign of a good artist and not just a wham bam thank ya mam artist. You get what you pay for. Yes this would entirely be better if he kept in contact more and he isn't even arguing that point but you guys are hanging him out to dry for an attitude that he's always had. That if the orignal commissioner would have read his journal posts or looked at his other ways of reacting to things should have been aware of as well. I'm not saying he's right in the way he act's Im saying he's acting in the way he always has. Tact and professionalism sometimes gets lost in a pile of paperwork. kadaria May. 31st, 2011 09:21 am (local) >Im saying he's acting in the way he always has< And it really hasn't done much for him in the past either if you check the tags where he uses the same attitude and even lies to a customer about a shipping date. Put aside for a moment that this artist is your friend and think about any other customer service job. -Do you think you would last in any of them if you were nasty and sarcastic to your customers? How would your manager respond when you were called on your bad attitude and you told her "That's just the person I am take it or leave it."? -What about if when customers paid you, instead of giving them what they bought you "forgot" about it and kept the money? Would they think you were a good, trustworthy person or a scammer? -How happy are customers when orders are lost, calls not returned or they feel "stiffed" from a deal? How does this look to other people who may be interested in commissioning you? If this keeps happening to him: >Tact and professionalism sometimes gets lost in a pile of paperwork< Then he really shouldn't be in any kind of customer service job, let alone art commissions which require discipline as well as good customer service to thrive. kairi_koitra May. 31st, 2011 09:43 am (local) Again your quoting the same thing he has other posts on here as well. did I in any way shape or form deny that he was wrong in his actions? No. I simply stated that its not only the artists responcibility to complete a piece of work it is also a responcibilty onto a commissioner to do research on an artist before giving them their hard earned money. A lot of commissioners would save themeselves a huge headache and ending up in this situation if they would research an artist before paying them. A friends word is great but using tools such as A_B is even better. Exo has more then one post on here about his habits and manners if people would take the time to read up before paying an artist to do a piece of work things like this wouldn't happen. They would know about his lack of emailing his bad attitude etc. Heck if they would have thumbbed through his journals etc on FA or LJ they would see he has an attitude problem. The point is that his bad attitude is everywhere all people have to do is do a bit of research and they can see it. If I'm going to go to a fancy resturant and spend hard earned money on a meal. I think I'm going to research where i'm going a bit to see if they live up to what i'm paying for. Everyone blames the artists for things but in the same light the commissioners should be held for lack of doing research as well. synatri May. 31st, 2011 09:52 am (local) ... What? So you're saying it's the commissioner's fault that they didn't realize that the artist is a douche before they commissioned him, so it's okay for him to be a douche? Really? hamburger May. 31st, 2011 09:57 am (local) No name-calling, please.

He said the commission would be done at the end of December, and though it was not completed by then, I was not irked. In January I receieved a phonecall from a friend who was visiting Exo, asking a question about my character's breasts (they're prostetics) as a sketch was being worked on with my friend helping, my response was they could be anything, including weapons. I could hear Exo inthe background saying he loved the character design, so still I had no worries. Friend updated me later through AIM saying that I'll really like the finished product. I have yet to see the sketch. From mid to end 2010 I had several RL issues pop up so that commission in paticular was one of the last things on my mind, as well as working on several commissions of my own having difficulties finishing them, I felt it would be hyprocrisy poking Exo. In February 2011 I felt things been straightened out enough, so I emailed Exodite on the 27th with an inquiry seeing if he still remembered my commission. He has since taken commissions in the form of ACEO cards and had a list of people whose commissions he was working on, but I was not included in the list and progess being made on these commissions, but not mine. At this point all I wanted to know was that he had not forgotten about my commission. At the time he appeared to have had steady internet connection (enough to have a livestream on the 4th of March), but I still did not recieve a response. He has mentioned he is slow to respond to emails, so I waited before finally noting him on FA on March 24th wanting to see either the sketch and be placed on his list or recieve a refund. At this point I was a little irked. I realized he had not been active since the 15th of March, checking his LJ (on his FA profile) showed that the last time he was active on LJ was also the 15th of March. So I felt I like jumped the gun, and decided I'll wait, since he has lost connection before but has had people contact his commissioners and the lack of internet may have just been temporary. I was working on a A_B article looking for a way to contact him when Exodite reappeared on FA. As of May 25th my note was read, but was not responded to. I emailed and noted Exodite a second time on May 27th. In both the email and note were effectively the same, except I pasted the paypal receipt (minus my name and address) in the note. I have recieved no response, but he appears to be active on FA. Proof: The Paypal Reciept: 1st email stating when he was aiming to get the commission done: 1st Email I sent him in February: Note sent on the 24th of March, I messed up the dates of the commission. The note was read, but no response. He did post a journal about a live stream and was responding to comments, and faving art so I noted/emailed him a second time. Note/Email2, sent on the 27th of May, the ony different being I included the paypal receipt in the note. I made a grammatical error, he did not respond to the first note, I left out "not". : EXPLAIN: I commissioned Exodite through suggestion of a friend who had done previous business with him, and he needed some help out and was selling lineart. At the time I was looking for a Christmas present for myself in the form of a traditional piece, and I was interested in coloring said lineart . I learned some huge lessons as a result of this. I gave Exodite the same treatment I have given previous artists I have commissioned. I should have spoken up and noted him when he started taking ACEO card commissions and ask to be put on his list then rather than waiting months down the road, reguardless of what I felt emotionally then. I tried contacting him through email since that is where the initial transaction took place, then tried notes, then notes and email. I felt two days was decent enough time for him to respond, especially given he had read one note and knew I was concerned about my commission status. I tried to be straightforward and let him know I wasn't happy. I held off repeatedly writing up an A_B article in some hope this could be settled privately. EDIT: Issue has been sorted out and refund has been recieved :B
  20. May. 26th, 2011 at 10:53 AM shaneharper WHO: This post is about Dust-Bite on DeviantART. WHERE:http://dust-bite.deviantart.com/ WHAT: It was a $16 digital commission picture. WHEN: I first asked for a commission on December 13th. She agreed and I sent the payment over that day. Since then, I'd sent maybe two more messages, one in January and one in March asking about progress and if a refund was needed. I also sent updated reference sheets incase she hadn't started work yet. The last time I contacted her was April 20th. She hasn't responded past the first day when she accepted my c PROOF: Here is a screen cap from the first time we spoke about the commission. She agreed and I sent the money over. I don't have a paypal screen cap cause I didn't know I would need one and Paypal only keeps information for 3 months. This is a screen cap of the last time I messaged her, which was in April. I don't have the other two messages, but she hadn't responded to me in any message since the beginning. Not even about refunding. I've been REALLY patient, but I went to check out her commission "list" and I'm not even on it. **EDIT** I downloaded my paypal history (something I hadn't tried before) and found the payment and ID number. EXPLAIN: In the beginning, December, I had asked her for some digital art that priced up to $16. Neither of us considered it too challenging since it was one of her lesser commissions offered. She was quick to get back to me, and we agreed on the price and I sent the money over that night. I was super excited to have commissioned Dust-Bite because I'd always liked her art! I don't think she's a bad person but it's not acceptable to leave someone who has paid you, hanging. She hasn't been absent from DeviantArt either, because she's been posting a lot of art since December. And on DeviantArt, as some of you may know, you can see if another artist has read a note you sent them. She read my previous notes, but has yet to read the one I sent in April. I don't know if she's having money problems and can't afford a refund, but she can definitely finish my commissions since they weren't challenging and she's been more than able to post loads of art. **UPDATE** on June 8th, I was contacted and given my commission. I'm marking this down as lack of communication on my part versus a busy deviant.
  21. May. 26th, 2011 at 1:08 AM yujoben Who: Tigsie (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tigsie) Where: Furry Weekend Atlanta 2011 - Artist Alley What: I commissioned a traditional-colored badge and a Pokemon-themed water-color ACEO card. Paid IN FULL with cash, and given a hand-written receipt (ACEO card was done on separate receipt, and beside the matter at hand). When: Furry Weekend Atlanta 2011 (March 19th, 2011) - May 25th, 2011 After commissioning this artist back in March, I waited a bit and was actually prepared to wait for a good solid few months since I thought her art seemed decent enough, and well worth the wait. The problems with her actually started when she posted a list of commissions that she was either working on, or had finished, and she needed the home address' of the people that commissioned them so she could send them out. She put my Pokemon ACEO card on that list. Meaning, that even though she had the address previously, she seemed to have forgotten the ACEO belonged to me, along with the badge of my character. I did what she asked in her public journal, and sent her a private note telling her my home address and reminding her it went along with the badge I ordered. ...No reply... A few weeks went by, she posted a couple more journals, and the ACEO remained on the list (now remember, the problem is actually with the badge, but these details are just to prove her bad communication). I sent her another message, and just left it at that, hoping that she'd get it eventually. Also, she normally posts what she has done for each commission so far, and mine was marked as "inked" for the longest time. Once again, I had no problem with her taking her time on it, since I wanted it to be good. My friends had gone to Elliot's (May 20th - 22nd), which I knew Tigsie would be there because she had mentioned it in her latest journal, but didn't think to ask them to check up on anything for myself. I got a call during the 22nd after the con was over from one of my friends that he had seen Tigsie, and my badge was done, and she was using it as a display piece. Now, I'm sort of sceptical here... What artist doesn't let her customer know she's finished the product and doesn't tell them she's using it as a display/example piece? Either way, I brushed it off. A couple days later (May 25th) she posts her new batch of badges onto her FA account, and mine was included as the third one from the left on the top row. Immediately, I noticed it looked off. She had completely forgotten several important (simple) details that I ALWAYS include on my character (green-tipped mohawk and thick distinctive beard), and I've never had to correct other artists on because they couldn't be blamed on "different styles" (also, it looked nothing like a bear, and more like a weasel or canine). Seeing as she STILL hasn't replied to any of the previous messages I sent her, I posted a comment publicly on the actual submission that she ruined the design, to which she FINALLY replied to me, telling me to note her privately on how she did it wrong. I noted her, as I was asked, and told what she had gotten wrong (but now that I think about it, I also failed to mention other details she missed- including how she drew headphones on him even though at the con I asked her to not include the headphones in one of the three ref pics I sent her). I get a reply back, straight up telling me she will refund the money, without even giving me another option to go by. I honestly just wanted it corrected (even though I know it's a bit difficult, being a traditional piece and not digital), and when I mentioned it she told me she'd be leaving the country soon and wouldn't be able to get to it. Not wanting to go through the same merry-go-round of insecurity, I told her to just issue me a refund as she promised (and even mentioned for her to take the fees since I paid in full with cash at the convention, and not originally through paypal). Her answer to the last message was that she would "trace" the original image to do it over before she left on vacation (meaning she'd rush through it and hope I'd be happy with it), and I simply told her to forget it and just to handle my refund as she offered previously. Totally ignoring my request to not stick me with the paypal fees, she had done it anyway, leaving me missing $1.37. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it's only fair that she take the fees herself since it was HER mistake and I'm not getting anything out of it (she had warned me that if I got the refund I would not receive the badge). When I noted her back, telling her to replace the money missing and pay the additional fee so I'd have the exact $30 paid for the badge, she plain refused me and told me she was making me pay shipping for the ACEO card I commissioned. She NEVER mentioned any additional shipping fees, and even told me when I asked her at the convention that they were covered in the base price. She ended it by telling me that the conversation would go no further, she would ship out my ACEO in the morning, and that she was still keeping my badge to use for examples (though I asked her in a previous note to NOT do that or to at least remove the name since I do not want myself associated with her any further). I have never encountered such unprofessional behavior from an artist, and I hope any who reads this will take caution. SCREENSHOTS: pics.livejournal.com/yujoben/pic/0000h21h NOTES AND COMMENTS pics.livejournal.com/yujoben/pic/0000fb4f RECEIPT References Given: www.furaffinity.net/view/4872393/ www.furaffinity.net/view/5089389/ Finished Badge: pics.livejournal.com/yujoben/pic/0000gchy EDIT: I understand that my messages seemed bitchy. They certainly were not meant that way until she made me pay the fees on paypal for her mistake. I can understand her deducting money for the work done if I cancelled for my own reasons, but it was HER fault, she didn't follow the references and ignored all tips I gave her when I commissioned her originally. Also, because a lot of people seem to be missing this tidbit of info, I paid IN CASH, full $30, so if she was offering me a full refund, there is no reason to stick me with fees. Please remember the problem here that I'm trying to point out is not centered on her inability to follow references, but her horrible customer service because of bad communication and forcing me to lose money (no matter how big or small the amount) when I am not getting anything from it (for those that say I have the scan of the badge- it is tiny, and I don't want it to begin with). It was her idea first to refund me, not mine, and when I told her I wanted it fixed she offered me two other options which did not appeal. Options are meant to be CHOSEN, so don't hate me because I picked one in the end. The first option was for me to wait another few months while she went on vacation, and I really was afraid of dealing with this whole situation again. It is very nerve-wracking to just be completely snubbed by a person you have paid money to for a service. The other option was a tracing (whether it looked professional or not), and she planned on doing a rush job in a couple of days before leaving on yet another vacation, and I don't want something rushed and uncared for. So, I took the refund in the end. Any of you who are tight on money as it is and splurged on ONE thing for yourself at a convention would expect it done right. I was forward with her, and treated her the way I want my commissioners to treat me. I hate it when someone says anything along the lines of "Um...well...it's really neat... There's just a couple details off...but it's fine. I like it!" If done enough, I become upset with them and just tell them to inform me straight-up what I need to fix, because I WILL do my best to correct it. To sum this up, I didn't think of her as a lesser person, an underling, or an art slave. I think being blunt with people is a high form of respect. Anything less, I feel I am doing the person wrong. EDIT (2/09/2012): Tigsie has surprisingly refunded the amount, and I am pretty surprised that she remembered after all of this. With all of this past us, I do wish to apologize to everyone and especially her. I was a grade-a dick, but I had my reasons. Also, at the time I was pretty new to LJ and was replying to a lot of folks that weren't even talking to me.
  22. May. 25th, 2011 at 3:34 PM thepurplemoomoo WHO: furaffinity.net/user/squeedgemonster/ who is also on other sites that are linked on her page WHERE: furaffinity.net/user/squeedgemonster/ who i have also contacted through the email linked on their FA page - SqueedgeMonsterArt[at]gmail.com whose email used to be monsterguts[at]hotmail.com WHAT: Originally it was for a traditional badge for 23$ that I was REALLY looking forward to, i had commissioned it in may in hopes of having it by my birthday June 28. A year and a half later I sent an email asking what was up, and the order was changed to a pinup since i had waited so long. It was also supposed to be traditional, and mailed out to be upon completion like the badge was supposed to be. Here are screen caps of emails between me and her when i first commissioned on may 20th 2009 May 20th 2009, commission approved and payed for Then in November of 2009, i sent this email, to which i got no reply on august 23 2010 i sent this email on august 29 2010 she finally answered back to me. the following screencaps are messages sent back and forth between me and her. the bottom is what she says, and the top bit is what i answer back. they have the dates on them on august 31st she send me the sketch for approval, it looked nice. September 11, 2010 she sends me a photo she took of the colored piece. her scanner wasn't working, so it wasn't a quality picture that i saw. September 12 2010 i answered her email about my address and such 17 days later, September 29, 2010, still hadn't gotten it in the mail, wondering if she had sent it? i got no answer back November 24, 2010 sent another email, no answer back April 1, 2011, getting upset, sent another email, still no answer back April 16, 2011. sent a note on FA, even though she said she doesn't communicate through notes on FA (messed up IMO) FA indicates that note hasn't even be read. WHEN: I provided time line information with the images, but i payed and got the commission OKed on May 20th 2009, got a finished product (though not the one i originally asked for) on September 11, 2010, and still have yet to have it sent to me in the mail as promised. PROOF: my proof is above, in the screen caps EXPLAIN: I had always liked her art, so i had gotten a little bit of money to spend in my paypal and really wanted to buy myself a birthday gift. My birthday was on June 28th. I had commissioned the badge on May 20th, hoping it was enough time to be able to see it by my birthday. I wasn't too upset when my birthday passed and hadn't gotten it yet. Maybe a month wasn't enough time to do a badge? Christmas started to approach and I was like...well hey, X-mas gift to myself instead. Nothing. Then another birthday passed, so I got upset and tried contacted them more and telling them how upset I was with emails. She said she was sorry and upgraded my commission to a pinup instead of a badge, and told me they would still ship it out to me. September 2010 I got a low res photo of the finished image and was told to send my mailing address, which I did. From that point on I sent emails telling them I hadn't gotten it yet and asking if they had sent it. I never got an responses back and still haven't gotten it. I don't even have a good scanned version..They still upload things often, so I know they didn't like...die or anything. I am really upset about all of this, and now I am moving again, so if they send it out now without contacting me or answering my emails, it'll go to a wrong address and I will never get it.
  23. May. 24th, 2011 at 2:43 AM silverfalln I am incredibly sad to have to make this post, I really liked this artist, not just for her art, but because I thought she was pretty cool as a person. However... there's only so much I can take. I hope that this will still be allowed to be posted, even though the monetary part has been settled before I even get to post it, as it seems the artist doesn't even want to change how she does business, which in itself was making me seriously contemplate posting here. WHO: FarelleMoon on FA WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/farellemoon (and 2-3 "other" accounts that I can't recall the names of) WHAT: From/For me: a badge, part of a couple's art piece; from my fiance: the other part of the couple's piece, and she suggested doing a ref sheet for him, since this was for a new character and he did not have one for the character yet. I am (with mod approval) posting for both of us. He purchased the commissions for me as gifts. WHEN: My badge order was originally placed August 22, 2010. The couples piece, and the ref sheet was placed October 3rd, 2010. There was even a completed commission placed after this, and information of that is included. PROOF: You can click on any of these images to go to the Flickr gallery they are hosted on, and look at them in the "original" screenshot size. Lots of screenshots behind the cut. Church's screens are on the dark version of FA, mine are using the light one. *further details are hashed out here, further contact over the next few months* Shortly after this, she blocked him, because they were going back and forth in an argument. He was not refunded at this point. Now, for mine. These are for the completed commission. The commission was finished, and a censored screenshot can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/snowhawk/5753181533/ (tastefully nude, nipples are blocked out by me for the purposes of this post, sorry I didn't show the date). These are the most recent communications between her and I... Keeping in mind, I had sent NO notes to ask about my commission in the time from that last note for the completed commission, and was beginning to get concerned from the tone of her journals, as well as Church's growing agitation over her lack of communication. I read journals when I notice them/have time. Sometimes can't view FA for most of the day, since I can be pretty busy with my RL job and my family. So, those took place on May 9th... Two weeks later, I've heard nothing. I've grown more and more annoyed over the past two weeks, between the lack of communication, and what I've been hearing of people who are also having issues and afraid to speak up... I'm honestly angry at this point. But I'm trying to stay composed. Obnoxious furry-ism aside... This just pissed me off more, so I begin not only gathering my information for this post, but writing it and replying to her as well. That was the final communication as of my last check of FA, and I did send that note as it is written, I just took the screenshot before doing so. EXPLAIN: To start, I fully admit the screenshots above are not ALL off the communication exchanged, as some was just working out details of the art, and not of deadlines/payments/etc. I first commissioned Farelle in February of 2009, for an ink of my character Fidget. It was completed and posted without incident, and very quickly. Well, she offered a few "orphaned" badges some 9 months ago, and I decided I wanted one of them. I worked out the details, and my fiance, Church, sent the payment. A short time later, he decided to purchase a couples "heart" image she was having a special on, and while working out the details there, she offered to make him a character sheet. She said she would have the heart commission done in 2 hours, and the ref sheet would make it 2 weeks. Somewhere in all this, another digital commission was ordered as a gift to me, a simple piece of my character, tastefully nude. It was, again, completed with no incident. Well, deadlines were missed, obviously. And missed. And she dropped off of FA for a while. And she broke up with her fiance. And she turns into an emotional wreck. And she's having issues with pain. And we are trying to be patient. I live in pretty severe pain daily, too, so we can somewhat empathize. Church's ref sheet commission is supposedly sketched. My badge was changed from the orphaned badge to one of my actual character (at her doing), and has been inked (which I have seen, light bondage warning) and allegedly colored. We contact her, asking for updates, or refunds if it's too much work. My badge needs to be printed and have the ribbon added. But by me contacting her (the few times I have over this), she now refuses to show it to me (so I can, you know, make sure it's colored properly), and won't complete it, and will just refund me "when (she) can." (Edit while working on screencaps: She says she won't complete it becasue she doesn't want it to be destroyed when it gets here. Which I never threatened to have happen, and I never saw Church say that.) She refuses to give refunds, because she's jobless and the commission money has been spent. She expects commissioners to read her journals, and refuses to contact them directly unless she is contacted by them, and then she seems to get very annoyed by the whole deal. She says "I will have everything done by this date, and if I don't you get a refund whether you like it or not!" and the deadlines come and go and refunds don't arrive. In the past 9 months, she has stopped coloring commissions, and hired colorists, again saying this only in journals and expecting anyone that doesn't read them to just be happy with it. She recently admitted she's an "art slave" to another person, and that person will ALWAYS take queue over everyone else in the queue (we never would have bothered had we known this, but it's not, or was not, openly posted anywhere). She constantly drags her personal issues into her "professional" artist life and always has some excuse as to why she can't even show a file. She managed to get enough in donations to purchase a tablet, and not just the little Wacom Bamboo by the price she gave Church, it sounds to be a larger one than my 4x6 Intuos... I've been too angry to read her journals to see what size it was, if it was posted. And, if anyone else remembers, Farelle once tried to improve the relationship between commissioners and artists at cons, by posting helpful things to FA. I would love to link these, but I have lost my bookmarks to them. But this, while it was comforting to see that she valued being a professional, is apparently just smoke and mirrors to hide what's really going to happen. Also, while I was getting my screenshots, and Church was transferring his to my computer, she blocked him from contacting her. And as I have been typing this, and editing screenshots down/removing personal information, she's replied to me, as you will see at the end of the above screenshots. tl;dr: We trusted an artist, in the time it takes to have a child we've been repeatedly let down, now getting sob stories instead of work/refunds. Edit while working: Church just got an email notification from PayPal of a refund. She didn't send it, though, it was sent on her behalf. My last note has yet to be replied to, so I am still posting this as warning. If you want to risk it, go ahead. Neither of us will again, and we're both getting very discouraged over things like this happening. So, resolved as far as money goes, but the beware remains because she can't keep deadlines which -she- sets, likes to flake out and pretend she's doing no wrong, and refuses to actually contact her commissioners. Also, she has apparently posted/is posting about this situation here. I will let it be known, if that post is in the queue and she's not posting under an alt account or refusing to name names (which would still be under an alt or having someone post for her), then this is the situation from my/our side and her post, as of the time I am submitting this, is not viewable. Journal Edit, 2:51 pm, May24, 2011: More screenshots, including the last ones between Church and Farelle, as hamburger requested. The one between her and I are extremely confusing, again, as I am not sure where she is getting the idea I have said some of the things I am being accused of. I have told her to keep the badge, as the screenshots show, as I am tired of this exchange and getting nothing but more excuses. (Notice, I point out at the end she seems to have overpaid us in the refund, but Church can't contact her because she has him blocked.) I am at this point through with her. Any future notes will not be responded to, though I may actually add them if she continues to insist that she is being abused/attacked. I do not deny, in anyway, that I am harsh and abrasive in these notes. Mini edit: I admit I MISSED the line in the last note from her where she says to keep the extra money. For that I apologize and I take responsibility for the screw up. Now, between her and Church, these are the last two notes they exchanged. Church is, as I type, gathering notes where she admits to FORGETTING about the commission, as well as further deadlines she imposed and missed. I will add those when he gives them to me and I have them properly edited. Journal Edit 2, 3:32pm, May24, 2011: These are the screenshots where she admits to forgetting about the commissions, sets a new deadline (Christmas 2010) for herself, and a contact schedual is suggested by Church. Not asking for much, just not to be ignored. Church has also pointed out to me that, in the journal where she announced she was going to go to be hiring colorists, he DID actually express his displeasure. However, I can't remember the time frame of that journal as I think I just skimmed it and never got around to coming back to it (This is why, again, journal only communication is BAD.), so we do not have screenshots of it. Assuming the journal is still there and the comment is not hidden, it does exist.
  24. May. 23rd, 2011 at 10:32 PM undertow26 I probably should have come here much sooner, but I held on to the hope that this person would come through for me. However, after his excuses, I'm fed up and reporting him here. I discourage anyone from commissioning him, he's been nothing but evasive. June of last year, I commissioned Coferosa on DeviantArt for a fifteen dollar sketch of a character design. I have a few links to the transaction here including proof that the payment was transferred to him. Against my better judgment, I used the points system to commission him so I'm not able to file a paypal claim. Proof the transaction was made img855.imageshack.us/img855/2139/blackened.png I edited out my main dA name. The transaction was arranged on my commission account but I paid on my main account. First few notes exchanged, he accepts the commission: img11.imageshack.us/img11/5695/theif2.png img705.imageshack.us/img705/7246/thief3.png Some time goes by. I set a deadline in the job offer post of two weeks. As of right now I don't have the link to the posting anymore. But he overshot the deadline. I politely ask the status of the commission img860.imageshack.us/img860/7734/notez.png But my note is ignored. Feeling somewhat insulted, I send him another note img713.imageshack.us/img713/7401/reply0.png I finally get a reply. He says he finished the commission. imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/thief1.png/ After that, he goes completely silent. I admit, I should have pushed him more. Eventually it completely slipped my mind. But I decided to go through my inbox sometime in Febuary to clean out some old notes and found his. Remembering that he didn't send me a WIP or a complete picture, I note him again. By now, several months have gone by. img831.imageshack.us/img831/2341/reply1h.png I receive a reply, getting the character's name wrong and I don't buy his excuse. Art has been submitted, infrequently though he has posted new stuff. His most recent deviation was submitted May 2 of this year. img836.imageshack.us/img836/2540/reply2.png That's the last I've heard from him. I've warned him several times and now I make good on my promise. As of now I've given up any hope of him refunding the points to me or sending me the art. I have filed a report with dA's help desk but I highly doubt that they'll do anything about it. This is more of a warning to others that may have been interested in his art. It may be a case of him not having his priorities straight, but communication is awful and he'll only respond if you nudge him. Not once has he noted me to say that his computer failed, etc. Edit: As expected, I recieved a response from the staff basically saying I'm on my own here:http://oi54.tinypic.com/wa0ygk.jpg I'll try contacting the artist again with a stern note and a link to this beware. But lesson has been learned, that will be the last time I commission an artist with points unless they've proven to be a very reliable artist.
  25. May. 23rd, 2011 at 4:22 PM jakejynx It's ridiculous that I have to make this post over something so simple, but this person has stopped responding to my emails, and has ignored the Paypal claim that I filed. On May 5, I posted a journal asking if anyone had some sparkle furs on hand that they would be willing to sell. Evilalcarne responded saying she could sell me some lime green fur. I paid $10 for the half yard of fur and $10 for shipping on May 7. She responded the same day, saying the fur would be shipped out on Monday. On Tuesday, May 10, I sent an email asking for the tracking number. She told me that she had stopped by the post office that day, but that her mother had the tracking number, since she was the one who went to the post office. On May 13, I sent an email asking for the tracking number again so that I could be home to receive the package. I received no response. On Monday, May 16, I sent another email telling her I was getting worried. Shipping from FL to GA takes two days at most. Even parcel post is a quick ship. I once again asked for the tracking number. She responded with "it's around here somewhere." And that was the last message I received from her. I sent a final stern email on Friday, May 20 telling her that I expected either the tracking number or a refund by the end of the day on Saturday, or I would be filing a Paypal claim. I received no response. A Paypal claim was filed late Saturday night, and it was not responded to. Today I escalated it to a claim, and I'm fairly confident that I will receive a refund, given that she is apparently unable to show proof that the fur was shipped. Please avoid transactions with this person. Communication is spotty, and she apparently can't be bothered to give you the tracking code on packages. Update: The fur actually arrived today via UPS. However, according to the tracking number on the package, it wasn't mailed off until May 20. That's 10 days after she claimed it had been mailed. Though I sincerely doubt it was $10 to ship, considering it weighs only 11 ounces, the UPS shipping calculator is apparently down right now, so I'm unable to get a price estimate. As if that weren't bad enough, when I opened the box, I quickly realized that it was not the half yard that I had bought. She sent me an 18x18 piece of fur (a half yard would have been an 18x65" piece). That's something like 1/8 of a yard, not 1/2. I know it was not a misunderstanding, since she included a note in the box saying "here is the 1/2 yard of fur." I can't help but think that she purposely sent me ~1/8 yard, and just assumed I wouldn't know what 1/2 a yard looks like. ? Fur 1 Fur 2 And this may be nitpicky, but on her site she has a picture posted of her dog lying in the exact same fur that she sent to me. Though I'm not allergic to dogs, the fur was going to be used on tails that could be sold to people who are allergic. I don't use furs that have been used as animal beds.
