I was with him at the time of the transaction, I was there when he gave Beowulf his sketchbook, I've got the original piece right here beside me as I'm typing this. I'm making this post because my husband cannot (he's navy, I handle most everything right now). Anyways. Yesturday, 4/9, I was browsing my FA, and I saw another piece posted by Beowulf. This piece WAS my husband's piece that he had commissioned. Except it was recolored and some parts changed. But very obviously belonged to my husband. Now, I know for a fact that neither of us gave permission for the piece to be reused, and even if it had been asked, we would have said no. I fully understand the recycling of rejected sketches, but this was a fully finished traditional piece that had been digitally colored. I immediately sent Beowulf a note about this, and left a discreet comment on the piece, telling him to check his notes. At no point did I publicly call him out for having done this. He read the note, and the piece dissapeared within moments off of FA. However. No return note was sent. No apology, no explanation for the re-use of a commission piece for another commission, nothing. This leaves me with a bad feeling. I forgive easily. All I wanted was a note of apology. I understand that mistakes happen. I understand that our commission was several years ago, and maybe Beowulf had the original file saved and forgot that it belonged to someone. I don't know. All I know is that he deleted the piece, and said nothing more to me about this. So i'm posting this as a warning. Don't get me wrong. He was awesome to work with, does beautiful work, and was a good guy. If this event hadn't happened, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him as someone to commission. But this just leaves me sour on him as an artist. WHEN: Original commission was at AC 2010. While there was nothing signed or the like saying that he can't reuse the piece, it's still in very bad taste I would think to do this? So I'm posting the artist-beware to let people know about this, so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Reusing a commission for another person's commission is just not right...or so I think. Edited to add: I spoke to my husband about this, and he told me that in his emails there would be a copy of hte commission from when he paid Beowulf to digitally color it. I asked for some changes, and was sent them fairly quickly. The commission is still not complete, but progress is happening! I'd say this has been PENDINGfor now since I finally got a reply and progress on the art. This is actually my first post here and I hope it's worth even being mentioned. For the [past four months](screenshot), I've been trying to get in contact with AluminemSiren about a simple $20 Character Portrait I'd like to get from them. I paid them on the day I contacted them and Aluminem said they'd get me a sketch the next day, but that didn't happen. Time passed, and I actually forgot about it until a month or two later. I tracked them down on FA again and inquired about it, and then a general post appeared shortly after stating they were simply[procrastinating on the art for everybody.](screenshot) I left comments there asking for the [status two months ago, then one month ago.](screenshot), and about [20 days ago from the time of this post](screenshot) , all of which have been unanswered. Someone else actually replied to my month-ago status saying they were also wanting to know the status of their commission as well, but they have since hidden the comment. Meanwhile, Aluminem has been actively talking to other people in their journals and shout pages. During this time, Aluminem has taken [several] [new] [commissions] [while] [leaving] [o][t][h]er people like me on the [waiting list](screenshot of a few of the journals, but not all) (screenshot of waiting list). For example, Razorblitz asked for a commission [three months ago] and it's listed as "COMPLETE!!"(screenshot). kougatalbain is also above me on the waiting list even though I paid before them, as are a few others. I am not sure if that list is in 'to do' order but I've been placed at the very bottom. Aluminemsiren won't give me the time of day and I'd really like to know if I'll ever see this commission from them. I very well know that life happens and [new jobs] really do take the energy out of you sometimes, but I feel there could have been time in this 3-4 month long gap to at least write me a reply. Judging by their [20+ commission list] and the amount of time I've been waiting it may be a very long time until I even see a sketch. They haven't read my subsequent notes on FA, however they have read notes by others and refunded at least one other person who posted a public shout to them (Chimerasynx then deleted that shout, but the person thus refunded PM'd me to let me know what had happened with their attempt to get their money back). However Chimerasynx so far hasn’t read or replied to any of my notes asking for a refund from the same time period as that, so I'm frustrated beyond belief at this point. I then posted a public shout on their page, hoping to get them to respond. If anyone has additional contact info for them, which hopefully they read more often than FA notes, that would be appreciated. I really hate to have to assume the worst here, especially given their level of talent, and pending them getting back to me, I'll have to start looking at various options regarding fraud filings with my bank. The lack of response, the missed deadlines, failed promises and changing excuses need an explanation, and I need a refund. Edit: see the update posted lower in this thread, this issue may resolved / nearly resolved in a good way. :)

After four months of waiting for the sketch commission, I contacted her again and she replied telling me she forgot about it. I waited about a month longer and then messaged her asking for a WIP (after seeing that she'd uploaded a couple of WIPs, which. I figured that after THIS LONG, she would have worked on it a little. Mar. 25th, 2012 at 1:23 AM thaily WHO&WHERE: Xinnova2 on Furaffinity. WHAT: Digital character sheet. WHEN: Started December 22, officially terminated via full refund March 23. PROOF: - Complete exchange of notes in a text file. There's 11 pages, I'll write summary below. Also the links are borked because A. cut&paste from FA and B. I removed the sketches from my server because Xinnova need not access them anymore. - [NSFW, feral bits] Thumbnail of sketched character sheet. To provide proof that I did draw the commission and go to this point of near-completion. Forgive the size and watermark, I do not wish to provide this person with further images for his perusal. - Screenshot of full refund. SUMMARY: Customer doesn't know what he wants, or at the very least does not communicate this to the artist. Despite claiming that he is a writer and that this character sheet will "define me spiritually" he does not write a conclusive description of what he wants, hemming and hawing over what he wants and then becoming increasingly abusive when the artist indicates her boundaries in accordance with the TOS they agreed to. Upon a full refund the customer posts a harassing journal and he and his friends make libelous statements and insults, suggesting customer sue the artist and wishing physical harm on the artist. Upon completing another character sheet commission, Xinnova contacted me about getting a similar commission from me. I showed him my TOS which he said, and I quote "That's actually very reasonable" and "I will try not to make too many changes, if I do though I will pay the fee". We agreed on $100 for the sheet, half paid up front with a deadline of 6 months. The transaction started out pleasantly, though early on I realized I had to drag a description of the character I was supposed to draw out of this guy. I thought that he was just a little enthusiastic and disorganized and that I could work with him; I've worked with customers before who sort of knew what they wanted and helped them along to come to a satisfactory end result. No biggie. I thought. I told him to take a day to make a list of things he wanted instead of sending lots of separate notes, and when he sent notes asking me to add things after I had started (and shown him) sketches I didn't make a fuss and did. The trouble started when I showed him the third sketch; the first was a side view, he asked for changes (rounded the muzzle/added bandana/number of teats/placement of teats/size of paws/shape of tail-mouth) which I applied. Upon being shown the second sketch he approved the changes, asking if I could curve the horns back a bit more, which I did. He specifically complimented me on the revised tail-mouth; initially described as being shaped like a rose-bud that opens into a worm-like maw with teeth. I drew the closed tail mouth as a rose bud, with a bulb below the bud and the little green outer leaves. I told him I was checking off the side-view as approved and listed the remaining work, thinking we had a decent jump off point for the character design. He told me he was looking forward to the results. He asks if he can still add a necklace. I added the necklace in the fourth sketch. Upon being presented with the third sketch, he tells me the previously changed and approved muzzle "doesn't feel right at all". He also asks me to change the previously changed and approved closed tail-mouth design. I apply both of these changes. He asks me to match the size of the paws in the turn-around, which are already matched in size; I put the sketches side to side to ensure that they were, before I presented him with the sketch. So, I can't change it because the paws are already matched up. He asks me to change the teats/pouch, I apply this change. He tells me the cock has a knot; the cock is not shown, just the sheath. He did not ask for a cock, so I just drew the sheath. He says he has a sheath, which is great, because I drew a sheath. Again, can't change that. He tells me he wants the anus included from the view from below, except you wouldn't be able to see the anus from that angle, especially with the vagina mound in the way. So I can't change that because quite frankly, it would make it look like I don't know the proper placement of the anus, which he seems to believe. He "helpfully" tells me the anus "is located in the common area of the tail base". He tells me to mind the shape of the serpent heads, which is fine. It was a messy sketch but I'm quite familiar with ancient Egyptian art, that's not a problem. Current count of changes is 11 changes applied spread over 3 opportunities for Xinnova to provide feedback. On the 3 items I couldn't change I explained why I could not. I send him the fourth sketch, which includes close-ups of the genitalia, including a close-up of the anus in it's proper place. At this point, his unclear waffling on the muzzle and tail is some cause for concern for me and I tell him that this is his last batch of free revisions. I tell him to take his time in deciding what he wants to see changed and that if he wants more changes, he'll have to pay extra for the additional labor, as stated in my TOS which he agreed to. I had a feeling that otherwise, I was going to go back and forth on the muzzle and tail for a long time, if not on other parts as well if he suddenly disapproved of his previously approved changes. Keep in mind that he has currently paid $6,25 per element of the character sheet. As a professional, I can only spend so much time on a $6,25 sketch. He sends a short note, telling me he has 6 months? I set a 6 month deadline for my work, and we're already 3 months into it. But I didn't tell him he only had a day, just to take a day to think about it, since his other replies asking for changes were sent fairly quickly and then promptly disapproved of again next time 'round, I thought maybe he thought I was trying to rush things and that he didn't have time to think about it. I tell him he can take his time and give him some hints on how to put together clear reference material. I figured that, even if he could not find good images or couldn't "redline" the sketch, that he could write out something more detailed, as he lists himself as being a writer. This is where the transaction sours, in retrospect, pretty much beyond repair. I try and remain civil despite the fact he calls my experience and professionalism into question, tells me I should have done the research(?), that he only asked for a few small changes, that I refused to change things (but when prompted, doesn't tell me what I refused), that I'm not giving him opinions or options etc. I give him a play-by-play response telling him that he needs to tell me what he wants or else I can't draw it. I restate that I want him to take his time and tell me exactly what he wants so that I can change it and hopefully bring the transaction to a satisfactory conclusion. He goes on about how this commission is unique and he can't just describe it despite the fact that he is A. a writer, or says he is and B. he claims this character sheet will "define me spiritually". Despite the fact he is not an artist he tells me sketching is the easiest part of a commission and something about experience, which he doesn't have as an artist, so I don't even know where he was going with that; at this point I'm just confused and uncertain where this hostility is coming from. Stress and illness can only account for so much, I've never had a customer get angry before when I ask them what they want. But he feels like I'm cutting his head off by asking him what he wants so I can draw it for him. I initially read the note but don't reply, assuming that with time he'd send me the info I needed and we could get this business sorted. I try to go on with my day and do unrelated art, but I'm distracted and irritable and I realize that I was just waiting for the other passive aggressive shoe to drop. I wanted to bring the commission to a good conclusion, despite the brouhaha, but realized that in order to do so, I'd have to let him bully me into, essentially, work for peanuts. Well, smaller peanuts. Or the burnt, shriveled and stale bits of peanuts left in the bottom of the bag of peanuts. And that I would hate myself for it. So I terminated the transaction, as stated I am able to do in the TOS he agreed to. I even gave him a full refund. Then I told him that he could make no claim to the sketches, could not use them for anything and that I desired no further contact. I saw that he had read the note and he did not reply. I thought that would be the end of it and I was quite happy to leave it at that. That said, I still had a half-finished character sheet, which I own fully and was out about $50 of labor. Trying to recoup some of my losses I changed the design around to no longer resemble Xinnova's design (which according to him, I had failed to approximate anyway) and put it up as a pre-sketched character sheet/adoptable. AFTER I had removed all mention of Xinnova from my account, which was just in my commission list in my journals anyway. I did in no way refer, link or name him anywhere. To which [possibly NSFW, tame but feral bits]he promptly outed himself as the uncooperative and abusive customer in the very first comment. Notice his friends also joining in. I blocked them all. He then posts a harassing journal linking directly to my submission, breaking the Terms of Service of FurAffinity. When a moderator deletes his post and gives him a warning, he complains about how he was just defending his good name which would have never been jeopardized if he had dropped the matter when he was refunded. You'll notice the blatant discrepancies between his communication with me and what he tells his friends: That I was insulting and attacking him, that he only asked for 4-5 small changes and that I didn't do half, that I have "butchered" his name publicly, that he wasn't initially prepared to pay extra for additional labor in case he needed numerous changes and so forth. Interestingly, there's apparently 3-4 of his friends who filed Trouble Tickets about me/my pre-sketched commission, despite they were never even peripherally involved with this transaction. Harassment, name-calling, insults and the like ensue, all based on what little skewed information they had. Which brings us to this post. In conclusion: Do not work with this person. He doesn't know what he wants and gets angry when you don't either and refuse to do endless revisions until he makes up his mind, which might be never; he wants other people to define him spiritually, which is just never going to happen. It's not worth it and neither is the resulting abuse and libel he uses to whip his friends into an ignorant frenzy. Friends, whom I should add, who would also probably be best avoided if these statements are indicative of their true nature. I'll probably get more abuse and harassment for this post, but I honestly think it's worth it if I can save at least one other artist from this frustration and aggravation; You are better than this, do not work with him.

We chatted throughout this time. I finished my side of the trade, they were very happy to receive. (With my permission) After a month had past without me hearing on their side of the trade, I decided I'd remind them about it--maybe they had forgotten! They didn't forget, they clearly stated this. They promised it would be finished soon. Over the six month period, I've been nothing but friendly, reminding them on their uncompleted trade. Mind you, I've only reminded them about four times. Maybe they misinterpreted sarcasm, and got angry with me, I'm not sure. They seem to be very easy to ignite. All-in-all, I'm sick of waiting, I don't want their half anymore. Just be warned, and don't do trades with this person. They were incredibly rude and defensive, their friends even joining in to pitifully try and support them.

I was a bit frustrated, but it was okay with me.... Then comes her posting a journal for a stream. She said that she will finish some owed commissions and be TAKING ON MORE on the stream http://i.imgur.com/pK918.jpg . Ended up with her seeming to not really finish many if any of the outstanding commissions and to just be taking more and more money from others. I asked her if she would be finishing my commission as she had said she would, and while complaining about it being late and saying how tired she was... she ended up sketching it. I had asked at this point for her to instead do the Spring form of this character instead of the winter form; http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6921917/ she agreed and said she would do that in the coloring stages. The next day she streamed and said that she will only finish outstanding commissions if they get ANOTHER slot IN STREAM. http://i.imgur.com/nKMLO.png so I had to chase her for a slot, and I was quite lucky to get one too since she's usually hard to catch a slot from. Sadly my laptop has been having issues so I couldnt cap everything, but whenever I would ask for a correction she would say she would do it and NOT do it or she would complain. My partner sent the payment for me, as I was having paypal issues. I can get a screencap when she is around if anyone would like. I asked her to fix the colors on the character and make them more gray, she complained and said that she would do it later and that it should be close enough now anyhow (its supposed to be a very dulled down character in general). I also asked her to make the gradients less smooth and kind of spiked out like in the reference. She agreed, but never fixed it. Edit: These markings were quite clear on the reference I had given her in the note at the beginning of the commission. The things were what she had missed, and not a change that I had neglected to tell her. These things were not mentioned until she had been coloring them, as they were color related and I could not have anticipated her skipping over them. As well as that, the change from winter to spring form (adding the vines and flowers) were made at the beginning of the commission around the time she had begun the sketching stage if not before /Edit I then asked her if it was possible to make the eyes a bit more orange and she complained and refused to do that as well. I also asked her to fix the face markings and she replied with this; http://i.imgur.com/7MYN3.png since I was getting fed up and did not want to deal with her anymore, I decided to play along. As she was drawing the sketch, someone had asked her about their commission. Falvie was EXTREMELY rude to her. I can provide screenshots if they are wanted, but this is for that commissioner to post and not me. Hopefully her entry will be accepted soon, because I was horrified at Falvie's behavior. She had basically said that she knew she was unprofessional and did not care that she would lose customers for it. She did not seem to care at all about the people whom paid her or will be paying her to do her job and called the user a scammer for being disappointed for waiting so long. This was as she was streaming for me, so it was extremely uncomfortable to be caught in the argument. I was happy with the picture (other than the rushed fixing of the face markings), and actually still find it beautifully done regardless of the problems i have had with her. I had thought that I was done with her at that point. Someone called the character male in the picture and I corrected them happily. No problem, it happens all the time right? Someone else then said that falvie makes "the weirdest shit look awesome" so I replied saying something similar to "Well, I think Thorn is always awesome 8P" And then... when I looked to see the picture again I realized that Falvie had hidden all comments I left (even me complimenting the artwork) and said to the second person i mentioned, "Nevermind them. I have to make things look awesome, otherwise it wouldnt be fun!" or something similar to that. I asked her why she had hidden my comments, as they were not hostile or anything (maybe one could be taken as such, but the others?) and she deleted the submission. In my confusion I asked her why she deleted it on her page and had said that if I had done anything to anger her then perhaps it would be okay for her to repost it at least for my partner's sake? a few minutes later my partner went on Falvie's page to see this; http://i.imgur.com/yNLc1.png with the link to this; http://i.imgur.com/b62gN.png I was confused and insulted that she would do such a thing, but I had hoped it was a coincidence. I commented again after she had stopped spamming her page, because I had just wanted an answer to my question. I dont know if this is a coincidence, but it was RIGHT after, so it is possible it has to do with me. Edit: She posted a public apology...saying that I hurt her and could have dealt with this privately. If this were possible then she would have replied to my question and not blocked me (as I see I am blocked now.) I cannot accept such an insincere apology as this. Instead of apologizing, she had "called me out" on "hurting" her instead of apologizing. Not only were both my accounts blocked, by my partner was blocked as well. Edit: As I am blocked by Falvie, I would like to apologize to her here. Though you have made some terrible decisions (in my personal opinion) you do not deserve the harassment you are getting. I sincerely apologize for the troubles and harassment this has caused. I would also like to apologize for being a demanding customer. Saying no would have been okay with me. It may have annoyed me a bit, but being a traditional artist I understand how hard it is to correct some things. I did not mean for this to happen, as all I was doing was leaving a "negative review" of sorts. I had no idea that this would blow up into the mess it is. I am very sorry. All in all, this artist has a lot of potential as a commission artist. She has lots of talent and can finish art in good time when she actually gets to doing it. Problem is, she has a terrible attitude and I wouldnt recommend commissioning her outside of quick IN STREAM commissions or for any complicated characters that will have things that may need correcting. I am happy with the art she had given me, but not the missed deadlines and general unprofessional attitude as well as complete disregard for paying customers. Buyer paid via Paypal and was friendly. Artwork was shipped and confirmed delivered. January 2012, charge-back issued saying payment was not authorized and payment for the artwork was taken back as well as a case opened on Paypal. Buyer says they did not initiate charge-back. Submitted evidence to Paypal of valid transaction and proof of delivery. Weeks later got another email from Paypal saying charge-back went through. Called paypal via buyer's request and Paypal said that they are working with the credit card company to show that it was a valid transaction but will take 75-80 days before the credit card company will get back to Paypal. I gave the buyer two options with two weeks to do one of them, either send the original artwork back or pay me the money owed. Buyer says they don't have money to pay me the money they owe but they are getting a tax refund check and that they'll have the money on the 28th of February which is 6 days outside the two week time frame I gave. WHEN: November 1st, 2011 - Artwork bought and paid for. November 8th, 2011 - Artwork Shipped. November 12th, 2011 - Artwork delivered and confirmed via delivery confirmation/tracking. January 24, 2012 - Email received from Paypal about buyer issuing chargeback and that transaction was not authorized. $55 taken out of my Paypal account. Febuary 8th, 2012 - Chargeback authorized by Buyer's Paypal and Credit Card company + $20 fee for this on top of the $55 that was charged back. Paypal talking with buyer's Credit Card company but will take 75-80 days for any word from buyer's credit card company. Gave the buyer two options and two weeks to do one; either send the artwork back to me or pay me the money owed ($55). Febuary 14th, 2012 - Buyer says they won't have money until 28th of Febuary which is 6 days after the two week deadline. PROOF: Last year (2011) at the end of October I did an auction on FurAffinity for the original artwork I did in traditional mediums (seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4716757/) of a Cheshire Cat. The winning bidder was Terraformer (the boyfriend) and Sasha_tanaka (the girlfriend). I mainly spoke with the boyfriend via note but he was talking to me about the original artwork for his girlfriend and she was the one who would be sending me the money via paypal. This was back on November 1st of 2011. Its been a few weeks but then I got an email today (Feb 8, 2012) with this: and this in my paypal (with an additional $20 fee tacked on to the $55.): I noted Sasha_tanaka again about this. I called the Paypal number she gave me and Paypal said they have submitted all evidence of a valid transaction to her credit card company and that basically it will take 75-80 days before the Credit Card company will get back to them. While I was on the phone the representative was able to reverse the $20 fee but im still out the $55. I told her she has two options and initially one week (agreed to max of two weeks) to do one of them or posting everything up on Artists_Beware: I got this note (Feb 14, 2012) saying she can't pay until after the deadline I gave her. Since she told me that she will not be able to pay and seems unwilling to send the artwork back by the deadline I gave her, I am now forced to take action - make a posting here to A_B. At this point she has the original artwork for free and Im out $55 and the artwork. Im not really sure what to do at this point. I've been trying to give Sasha the benefit of the doubt but im getting to my wits end. I would just like to get the artwork back or the money im owed for the original artwork. Stellary and Alex got upset with me as they had not discussed it with me before I sent it, but apologized and said that yes, I could have a slot since I paid. I apologized for misinterpreting their journal, and all seemed well. It was my error, please do not judge me badly for it. I was overexcited and I made amends. Near the end of July they posted a journal stating that they would be willing to issue refunds, though, for those who wished it. EXPLAIN: I commissioned 'Kwallie' back early February about commissioning a digital flat color commission featuring my fursona, Huttser Coyote, in a scene from How To Train Your Dragon. Kwallie was eager to accept the commission, and $20 was sent to her Paypal and received on February 16, 2012. Upon payment, I asked her to have it done within the following week (week of Feb. 16-23). After the note had been sent on FA, I received no further word from her, both on FA and DA. No notes were opened on either site. Since she provided her real name, I found her Facebook and politely asked for updates on my commission, since there was no communication on either site, and her Facebook is active (see updated Facebook). To this date, I have received no communication from her at all, and she continues to update her Facebook status and page frequently.

Mar. 25th, 2012 at 1:23 AM thaily WHO&WHERE: Xinnova2 on Furaffinity. WHAT: Digital character sheet. WHEN: Started December 22, officially terminated via full refund March 23. PROOF: - Complete exchange of notes in a text file. There's 11 pages, I'll write summary below. Also the links are borked because A. cut&paste from FA and B. I removed the sketches from my server because Xinnova need not access them anymore. - [NSFW, feral bits] Thumbnail of sketched character sheet. To provide proof that I did draw the commission and go to this point of near-completion. Forgive the size and watermark, I do not wish to provide this person with further images for his perusal. - Screenshot of full refund. SUMMARY: Customer doesn't know what he wants, or at the very least does not communicate this to the artist. Despite claiming that he is a writer and that this character sheet will "define me spiritually" he does not write a conclusive description of what he wants, hemming and hawing over what he wants and then becoming increasingly abusive when the artist indicates her boundaries in accordance with the TOS they agreed to. Upon a full refund the customer posts a harassing journal and he and his friends make libelous statements and insults, suggesting customer sue the artist and wishing physical harm on the artist. Upon completing another character sheet commission, Xinnova contacted me about getting a similar commission from me. I showed him my TOS which he said, and I quote "That's actually very reasonable" and "I will try not to make too many changes, if I do though I will pay the fee". We agreed on $100 for the sheet, half paid up front with a deadline of 6 months. The transaction started out pleasantly, though early on I realized I had to drag a description of the character I was supposed to draw out of this guy. I thought that he was just a little enthusiastic and disorganized and that I could work with him; I've worked with customers before who sort of knew what they wanted and helped them along to come to a satisfactory end result. No biggie. I thought. I told him to take a day to make a list of things he wanted instead of sending lots of separate notes, and when he sent notes asking me to add things after I had started (and shown him) sketches I didn't make a fuss and did. The trouble started when I showed him the third sketch; the first was a side view, he asked for changes (rounded the muzzle/added bandana/number of teats/placement of teats/size of paws/shape of tail-mouth) which I applied. Upon being shown the second sketch he approved the changes, asking if I could curve the horns back a bit more, which I did. He specifically complimented me on the revised tail-mouth; initially described as being shaped like a rose-bud that opens into a worm-like maw with teeth. I drew the closed tail mouth as a rose bud, with a bulb below the bud and the little green outer leaves. I told him I was checking off the side-view as approved and listed the remaining work, thinking we had a decent jump off point for the character design. He told me he was looking forward to the results. He asks if he can still add a necklace. I added the necklace in the fourth sketch. Upon being presented with the third sketch, he tells me the previously changed and approved muzzle "doesn't feel right at all". He also asks me to change the previously changed and approved closed tail-mouth design. I apply both of these changes. He asks me to match the size of the paws in the turn-around, which are already matched in size; I put the sketches side to side to ensure that they were, before I presented him with the sketch. So, I can't change it because the paws are already matched up. He asks me to change the teats/pouch, I apply this change. He tells me the cock has a knot; the cock is not shown, just the sheath. He did not ask for a cock, so I just drew the sheath. He says he has a sheath, which is great, because I drew a sheath. Again, can't change that. He tells me he wants the anus included from the view from below, except you wouldn't be able to see the anus from that angle, especially with the vagina mound in the way. So I can't change that because quite frankly, it would make it look like I don't know the proper placement of the anus, which he seems to believe. He "helpfully" tells me the anus "is located in the common area of the tail base". He tells me to mind the shape of the serpent heads, which is fine. It was a messy sketch but I'm quite familiar with ancient Egyptian art, that's not a problem. Current count of changes is 11 changes applied spread over 3 opportunities for Xinnova to provide feedback. On the 3 items I couldn't change I explained why I could not. I send him the fourth sketch, which includes close-ups of the genitalia, including a close-up of the anus in it's proper place. At this point, his unclear waffling on the muzzle and tail is some cause for concern for me and I tell him that this is his last batch of free revisions. I tell him to take his time in deciding what he wants to see changed and that if he wants more changes, he'll have to pay extra for the additional labor, as stated in my TOS which he agreed to. I had a feeling that otherwise, I was going to go back and forth on the muzzle and tail for a long time, if not on other parts as well if he suddenly disapproved of his previously approved changes. Keep in mind that he has currently paid $6,25 per element of the character sheet. As a professional, I can only spend so much time on a $6,25 sketch. He sends a short note, telling me he has 6 months? I set a 6 month deadline for my work, and we're already 3 months into it. But I didn't tell him he only had a day, just to take a day to think about it, since his other replies asking for changes were sent fairly quickly and then promptly disapproved of again next time 'round, I thought maybe he thought I was trying to rush things and that he didn't have time to think about it. I tell him he can take his time and give him some hints on how to put together clear reference material. I figured that, even if he could not find good images or couldn't "redline" the sketch, that he could write out something more detailed, as he lists himself as being a writer. This is where the transaction sours, in retrospect, pretty much beyond repair. I try and remain civil despite the fact he calls my experience and professionalism into question, tells me I should have done the research(?), that he only asked for a few small changes, that I refused to change things (but when prompted, doesn't tell me what I refused), that I'm not giving him opinions or options etc. I give him a play-by-play response telling him that he needs to tell me what he wants or else I can't draw it. I restate that I want him to take his time and tell me exactly what he wants so that I can change it and hopefully bring the transaction to a satisfactory conclusion. He goes on about how this commission is unique and he can't just describe it despite the fact that he is A. a writer, or says he is and B. he claims this character sheet will "define me spiritually". Despite the fact he is not an artist he tells me sketching is the easiest part of a commission and something about experience, which he doesn't have as an artist, so I don't even know where he was going with that; at this point I'm just confused and uncertain where this hostility is coming from. Stress and illness can only account for so much, I've never had a customer get angry before when I ask them what they want. But he feels like I'm cutting his head off by asking him what he wants so I can draw it for him. I initially read the note but don't reply, assuming that with time he'd send me the info I needed and we could get this business sorted. I try to go on with my day and do unrelated art, but I'm distracted and irritable and I realize that I was just waiting for the other passive aggressive shoe to drop. I wanted to bring the commission to a good conclusion, despite the brouhaha, but realized that in order to do so, I'd have to let him bully me into, essentially, work for peanuts. Well, smaller peanuts. Or the burnt, shriveled and stale bits of peanuts left in the bottom of the bag of peanuts. And that I would hate myself for it. So I terminated the transaction, as stated I am able to do in the TOS he agreed to. I even gave him a full refund. Then I told him that he could make no claim to the sketches, could not use them for anything and that I desired no further contact. I saw that he had read the note and he did not reply. I thought that would be the end of it and I was quite happy to leave it at that. That said, I still had a half-finished character sheet, which I own fully and was out about $50 of labor. Trying to recoup some of my losses I changed the design around to no longer resemble Xinnova's design (which according to him, I had failed to approximate anyway) and put it up as a pre-sketched character sheet/adoptable. AFTER I had removed all mention of Xinnova from my account, which was just in my commission list in my journals anyway. I did in no way refer, link or name him anywhere. To which [possibly NSFW, tame but feral bits]he promptly outed himself as the uncooperative and abusive customer in the very first comment. Notice his friends also joining in. I blocked them all. He then posts a harassing journal linking directly to my submission, breaking the Terms of Service of FurAffinity. When a moderator deletes his post and gives him a warning, he complains about how he was just defending his good name which would have never been jeopardized if he had dropped the matter when he was refunded. You'll notice the blatant discrepancies between his communication with me and what he tells his friends: That I was insulting and attacking him, that he only asked for 4-5 small changes and that I didn't do half, that I have "butchered" his name publicly, that he wasn't initially prepared to pay extra for additional labor in case he needed numerous changes and so forth. Interestingly, there's apparently 3-4 of his friends who filed Trouble Tickets about me/my pre-sketched commission, despite they were never even peripherally involved with this transaction. Harassment, name-calling, insults and the like ensue, all based on what little skewed information they had. Which brings us to this post. In conclusion: Do not work with this person. He doesn't know what he wants and gets angry when you don't either and refuse to do endless revisions until he makes up his mind, which might be never; he wants other people to define him spiritually, which is just never going to happen. It's not worth it and neither is the resulting abuse and libel he uses to whip his friends into an ignorant frenzy. Friends, whom I should add, who would also probably be best avoided if these statements are indicative of their true nature. I'll probably get more abuse and harassment for this post, but I honestly think it's worth it if I can save at least one other artist from this frustration and aggravation; You are better than this, do not work with him.

I have placed screencaps of what conversation I could get, they are in the explanation. EXPLAIN: I have been a customer wronged by Vani/Ash. At one point I thought we were on a very good level, enough to say we were sort of friends. While my situation has a better ending than most as I received a refund in the end, I will share it. I've wanted to share it for a long time but always felt the need to tip-toe around her feelings and her fans. I'm done hiding though, because her behaviour is not on. I was happy with my outcome, despite having to fight for it for so long. However, after seeing her open more commissions, well, that angered me! I feel upset and sorry for the people who are still waiting, and those new commissioners who have no idea. I commissioned Ash on August 5th, 2009, this was on her VanillaKitsune DA account. She was wanting to save up for some ragdoll cats. Her art was an inspiration and I think this was around the time we were acquaintances. I ordered a chibi ($15) and a digital portrait ($50). I am a very trusting person and I really wanted to help. Full payment of $65 was sent upfront, I was extremely excited! It wasn't the highest quality of art (pencil sketch coloured in) but I still did enjoy it, hey I got art for one of my biggest inspirations, yipee! I waited.. and waited. Ash has changed accounts to Vanimute on DA so I found her there and watched her. I continued to see her upload new art (none being commissions) but still I waited patiently! I take commissions myself and understand that sometimes you don't have the right inspiration. I also kept into account she was in college. A while passed and I discovered she was active on FA under the name Vani, not only uploading personal art but.. taking more commissions? I made an account on FA just to follow her and wait, still very patiently though! It came to the point where she was continuously opening commissions, until finally making a journal about her to-do list/queue. I am all the way down the bottom! At this point I was done patiently and silently waiting. I voiced my feelings, albeit in the open but I think I had the right to. Also if you read her reply, it is full of excuses (valid or not) and not one apology to me (I ended up being the one apologising?). As a commissioner myself I feel it is my responsibility to let my commissioners know if there will be a delay, also at least have the decency to own up to your mistake, have some humility and apologise?? So after feeling like the bad guy, I noted her on FA, here is a print screen. I waited months for a reply, it still says in my outbox that it has not been read. So I sent another one, this time I did not sugar coat my feelings. I was done, this was unacceptable. She still had $50 of my money and not one apology. So far we have gone from Vanillakitsune@DA, Vanimute@da, Vani@FA (all of which have been abandoned) and now her school email. I sent the same message to her but via email. To my surprise I got a reply. I got an apology, we worked out what I wanted. I gave her 5 different characters to choose from. All different species and levels of fun in hopes this would be helpful. In these emails I reverted back to being kind and understanding, hoping to not upset her. I understood she was stressed and made a mistake and honestly didn't want to ruin any chances of receiving my art. This was the 7th/8th of June 2011. I received an update 2 weeks later, with some sketches. Awesome, it looked like we were getting somewhere. I replied saying I liked them, thanked her and hoped for her to continue. 2 months I waited, and sent her an email wondering what was going on. I didn't receive a reply. This is getting quite long, I promise it ends soon! I then discovered her on TUMBLR. We are so far away from commissioning her on Vanillakitsune. Tumblr has an ask system so some months after the email I sent, I sent an ask about it. I don't have records of what was sent, but I expressed my unhappiness again and stated this was unfair. I was told since I found it unfair I would get a refund. If I remember correctly a few weeks passed and I had to send her an ask again! This time the reply I got was her paypal email, telling me to send her an invoice for the refund and that she would have it by the end of the week. I sent it on the 6th of December. I received the refund 2 weeks later, on the 20th of December, 2011. I commissioned her on the 5th of August, 2009. I am happy I got a refund, although it took a look of persistence. I remained nice and understanding the majority of the time. Forgave her constantly and chased her around the internet. While I finally got my money back, so many others are not this lucky! More of us need to share our stories. People need to know that commissioning Ash is a bad idea. We need to stop being scared of her fans and hurting her feelings. She may have nice art and be popular, but not saying anything in public seems to be allowing this behaviour. She has run away with hundreds (maybe thousands?) of dollars, and continues to do nothing to right her wrongs but rather make it worse! Hopefully one day this will end. I hope that she can change her ways, own up and make up for her mistakes and complete any overdue art/refund people. It will take some time but she has dug this hole and continues to to this very day! You can only be supportive and forgiving for so long before enough is enough.

I sent $26 just so the number would be even. I am aware that you're not supposed to pay extra to cover the fees but at the time I didn't know this.) (March 21, 2010) EXPLAIN: I commissioned Vani for two icons in March 2010. In the journal she does state that she wouldn't be getting to these specific commissions until May. So I did not expect to see anything until the summer/fall of that year. There was really no concise list of her current commission queue, but in the journal where she offered these commissions she made it seem like she didn't have that many to do. A year goes by and I figure it's time to contact her and inquire about the status of my commission. I tried to contact her through FA on June 28, 2011. The note was never read. So on September 19 I sent her an email, I never received a reply. (I can provide screens of the email and the note but I wasn't sure if that was necessary.) I responded back telling her I'd be happy to wait for the art as long as communication between us was good. Needless to say, I did not get a response to my second note. (I would provide proof of that but tumblr doesn't keep a record of sent 'asks'.) February, 29 I decided to try to contact her again through tumblr. I forgot to take a screen of it before I sent it off. But I had asked her how things were going and if she needed refs. I figured after almost 2 years she probably didn't have my character refs anymore. She has not responded to that note. On March 11 she posted to her tumblr offering more commissions. I’m a little disappointed. She has a queue of 50+ commissions that she hasn’t made good on, yet she’s taking on more work. I'm glad to see that she won't accept payment until the commission is finished but... What about the rest of us? Vani is a talented artist and I really hate to see her dig herself into such a deep hole. I didn't want to make an A_B entry about anyone, let alone Vani. She took on more work than she could handle and I know she's very stressed about it. But I wish she would communicate with me. I am patient and I am willing to wait quite a while as long as the artist stays in touch. I sincerely hope this can be marked as resolved someday.

Mar. 9th, 2012 at 2:02 AM heathermasanon I need a little bit of etiquette advice. Over a year ago I commissioned an artist on Gaia for a painted, full body couple piece. I paid half ($80) upon the delivery of a rough sketch, with the agreement that I would pay the other half after she got the flat colours for the second character down, and have only received one completed part of the commission (one character, the other still in a sketch state. I was never asked to send the second half of the payment during my correspondence with her). Since then I have not been able to get in contact with the artist, despite numerous attempts on my part. They've clearly been around, and are using the completed part of my commission as an art example, stating that it's a finished commission. They're even using it as an icon for their deviantart account. Now, I've long since given up on attempting to get in contact with the artist, since it's fully clear they're ignoring me and I don't know what else I can do, but my question is this: Since I technically paid for this half finished commission (her price for one painted full body was $80), and since she's using it as an example for further commissions, do I have the right to use the image? It just feels really weird to me. It can stand alone as a single character piece, but I know it isn't, and it technically wasn't what I commissioned her for. I do like what has been finished, and would like to include it in my art references for the character. I just feel like it might be weird. :/ [edit] So at the advice of commenters, here is the full beware. She has also posted a dA journal, updated her Gaia shop, and even finished another commission in the mean time. I would just like either the other have of my commission or the commission closed. Any correspondance at all would be welcome, really... I sent her an e-mail notifying her I would be posting about her here, and also mentioned that once we have resolved the issue I'll mark it as such.

He asked for changes and I told him I would make those changes after I got payment. He then started to make excuses why he couldn't pay - first it was Tuesday of next week. I waited till that Thursday to contact him. Then he said he'd send me it the next day, which didn't happen. I think the thing that frustrates me the most is when he said "I have bills to pay so I can't pay you." When not a few days early he spent $40 on a commission slot...He only needed to pay me $10 to get the sketch and finish with our business :/. The reason I am posting this after the 8th (the due date I told him he had till) was because of his last shout on my page telling me he's not going to pay me - so why bother waiting. I now plan to watermark all my sketches before sending them out for approval.

She will make sure you are happy with every detail and is generally just a pleasure to work with. :) The turn around on my last piece was something like 3 days I think. She doesn't trade quality for speed either so no worries on that count. She did an excellent job on both pieces! On the Minerva commission I didn't give her too many details on the Byakhee mount, and it seems she went and looked up some more details on her own. I can't recommend her enough, I know I'll be going back to her when I need some more art done. I paid $60 up front to make sure I had a spot on his commission line. Near the end of December I curiously sent Zillford an email asking if any progress had been made or not. I could not find a reply back to it in any box of my email account so I cannot verify if there was a response to this particular email. I made a followup note to him on FA and Zillford explained that my commission details possibly were misplaced, but he had found them and was going to put me in front on the production line. I made a third note asking how things were going on January 23rd, and his response was that it was one of the day's must-do pictures. My last email sent to Zillford asking about the status of the commission was on February 20th, 70 days from the day after payment was verified until the last email was sent. It appears that Zillford is inactive on FA currently. I would just like to have it completed and hopefully work out something to have it coloured later on. I am not mad at the artist, but I am concerned by the lack of communication. **UPDATE [April 3rd, 2012]: ** Another member on FA had found out that the artist Zillford had made an account on DeviantArt, and was being active on that site, and for what it appears, has abandoned his FA page. Later that week other people art was posted and still my name wasn't added to the queue. So I was fed up with it and filed a refund because I was tired of waiting and being ignored. So of course instead a well way to settle stuff in a mature manner I got a rage note saying "No I'm not refunding you your money its not my problem this was well hard earn money so don't give me the BS''. Let me point out that I got no update on my art so I went to my bank who is set up with paypal and filed a dispute for my money back because I felt scammed and the fact my bank had a flag with her info . Later along in the year she is posting pictures of stuff she buying and then writing journals later asking for money. She got in contact with me eight or nine months later to remind me that I still had commissions outstanding. We discussed an item (reversible two-toned collar) and I, again, promptly forgot about it. Until she delivered it. No drama, no mess, no hassle. Tarorae has consistently delivered quality products and material. I'm also happy to say that the subsequent pieces I've commissioned from her have been an equally delightful experience. The headshot is lovely as well; it has a kind of wistful quality to it, and there is a lovely liquidness to hir eyes in this. The solo pic of Sh'sthress is a prime example of where she applied her experience as an artist to achieve the feeling I wanted for a piece; she took the rather generic pose idea I had and turned it into something much, much more than I had envisioned. At the moment, Taasla is working out the preliminary sketch for a trade piece with me, and I'm looking forward to seeing it!
