original: https://artists-beware.livejournal.com/652902.html am new to posting on livejournal so if there is anything wrong with my submission just let me know! Thanks~ WHO: That1cyclops/mii/Agenthooves/Deerknight WHERE http://www.furaffinity.net/user/that1cyclops http://deerknight.tumblr.com/ WHAT: Art Trade WHEN: Agreement was made in late September 2012 PROOF Initial Contact: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/1Agreement.png https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/2Agreement.png https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/3Agreement.png Agreement: Deerknight (That1cyclops on FA) and I agreed to a trade approximately 4 months ago (it's going on 5 now that it's February). The agreement was a one character image each, I was to draw their character Pastel, and they were to draw my character Liam. As you can see I finished shortly after our agreement:http://www.furaffinity.net/full/8850846/ EXPLAIN: Firstly, I want to preface this by saying I work fast, and I believe in being timely. I take my trades as seriously as my commissions. I open trades and requests frequently and usually take 5-10 people and have always finished EVERYTHING within the span of a month. I have four people who currently owe me work and I have have been going around crossing them off the list, tying my loose ends if you will. Deerknight was one of them. I sent them thi https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Note1.png ote on January 23rd asking if they ever intended to finish their half. I checked to see if they had opened the note shortly after and found that they had, but did not give a response. When I went to their page I saw that they had unwatched me, and emptied their accoun https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Deadaccount.png. They also changed their tumblr url so I was unable to find them https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/DeadTumblr.png ortunately, I had the foresight to screencap everything I thought may be important. I sent them a second note on FA with a warning that I would be posting them here if they did not respond to m https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Note2.png t has yet to be opened https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Note2Unopened.png Through luck a friend had their new url, which I might add was changed ONE day after I sent them the initial note about the trade https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/NameChange.png hey claim that they changed it on a whim, and maybe that is true, but I think it's rather fishy they changed it the day after I sent out the first note. I then sent them a note on Tumblr, the same I had sent in the second note on FA https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/TumblrNote1.png n their response they deny ever seeing the first note (though it was clearly opened https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Note1Opened.png nd say they unfollowed me because I unfollowed them on tumblr. For a time I was following them on tumblr, but unfollowed shortly after because they made too many personal posts, and I really just wanted to see their art. I did not unfollow them on FA though , and am in fact still watching them. I had also bookmarked their art tag on tumblr, so I could see anything they did not post to FA. Maybe when they saw I had unfollowed them they went about unwatching me everywhere, I cannot sa Anyways, I can't tell if in their response to my note on tumblr they are genuinely confused or not. Again, they had opened my first note before this so I think they are trying to cover themselves. They also proceeded to make THREE very passive-aggressive posts about me on their tumblr: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/Post1.png https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/Post2.png https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/Post3.png Which were deleted by the next day. Now I was willing to let them go, again all I wanted was a simple reason, maybe even an apology. But this is just childish and rude. In my next note I tried to clear things up and explain what A_B was https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B%20Post/Final%20Note.png And then they sent me a second response that seems more genuine. I will excuse anyone who is having medical problems of course, a person's health must come first. However, I think that in all this time they could have at least contacted me and informed me that they were unable to finish their half. It is not my responsibility to keep tabs on another person's personal life. Not to mention they have been making plenty of personal art. That is why I waited to contact them until now, I figured one day I'd log in and it would be in my inbox. I don't think they ever got around to doing any of the art they owed though, and after awhile I realized that it wasn't going to happen and that's how all of this came about. I don't really want anything from them now, it's too little too late. But this will serve as a warning in case they ever do decide to open for trades or commissions again. Update 1: Deerknight contacted me last night, they sent me two messages: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/Screencap Deerknight.png I sent them this in response (I answered privately so I was unable to screenshot it, though I also sent the message to a mod): All I wanted was for you to take the initiative to contact me and tell me whether you would do it or not. I should not have had to track you down, and I didn't deserve the response you gave me when I finally did find you. But you were rude, and you were sneaky, and I think you were just hoping I'd forget about it. I really would have let this go if you hadn't thrown a tantrum on your tumblr, but it's too late now. I can't remove the post from A_B because it's against the rules, but if you do your half I can get it marked as resolved. I like your style a lot, I enjoy your art, and I was really looking forward to getting a piece from you! But if not, let's just go our separate ways. Update 2: Deerknight sent me a followup message: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27734475/A_B Post/deerknightscreen2.png I sent them a link to my Character Hub which has several references and the following message: (Again, I answered privately so I was unable to screenshot it) And listen, I'm sorry that this escalated the way it did. I will mark it resolved when you send me the piece, and if you post it to tumblr I'll be sure to recommend to all of my followers that they go take a look at your art. You are really very talented! I look forward to seeing what you come up with~ Update 3: Deerknight has sent me their piece in a VERY timely manner and it's lovely http://deerknight.tumblr.com/post/42403878669/my-part-of-the-art-trade-with-dealgen-im-sorry Consider this resolved!

We knew it was an ambitious target, so it wasn't disappointing when it wasn't done yet. Shortly after Rainfurrest 2011, there was some personal drama between myself and my ex best friend, which Fenrir's Child had inadvertently became involved with in other ways. Unknown to me at the time, this caused her to lose motivation to work on my fursuit. Several deadlines were set and missed. The first deadline after the drama was for January 2012, where I would pick up the fursuit for the When Furballs Strike 8 bowling meet in Kenmore, WA. When my wife and I went, the fursuit was not yet completed. The head was finished on the outside, but unwearable due to incomplete interior work. Because of the delays, Fen had offered free upgrades to make up for the extended wait. I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, upgrades aren't any good unless you actually get the fursuit. The next date was set for another When Furballs Strike meet in late May 2012. Again, the fursuit was not complete, with several months going by with absolutely no work done. The next completion date was set for Halloween 2012. Needless to say, it wasn't finished either. In November Fen had opened up for more commissions, and one of my closest friends had posted on her journal asking about my fursuit: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/SirFratley/Journalcomment.png Shortly after, Fen had finally come forward with why she had not been working on my fursuit this whole time, and offered a partial refund, which I politely declined because of financial troubles on her end: http://pastebin.com/k2PACa6X We decided to push for December completion. In early December, it was discovered that my head was missing, believed stolen. We discussed various options, including her remaking a head if I don't dock her in reviews or I pay $300, I get the remainder of the suit plus a partial refund, or, least desireable, a full refund. However, she backed out of any agreements and said she will be refunding me, without any say in the matter, in 45 days from the date of the police report for the claimed theft. Here is the full chatlog from that conversation: http://pastebin.com/q1UbWVix On the day the refund was due, she paid at 10 PM, without answering my emails or IMs asking what's going on, since it was getting late in the day and I still hadn't received my refund. Thankfully I did eventually find the refund in my paypal account, and our transaction is closed. Throughout this entire ordeal, I have been as patient as humanly possible, when all my friends were saying I should be making a fuss and have posted her on A_B a long time ago. Before the head was stolen, even Fen agrees I've been extremely patient: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/SirFratley/FensaysImpatient.png This entire commission has been nothing but constant waiting and repeated disappointment. There were many times I had felt absolutely trapped. I wanted to speak up and say she was taking too long, but if I did, I feared she would rush and push out a sub-par product, or give up and refund me without even trying to finish it. When she backed out of our agreement to let me have the rest of the fursuit minus the head, the gloves came off. While Fen's quality of work is extremely good, she simply lacks professionalism, basic business ethics, and the ability to complete large projects on time, allowing personal drama to interfere with her commissions. For small items such as tails, she would be a great builder to consider, but for anything more, I say Buyer Beware. Edit: Updated the proof to include initial email and Fen's old TOS. Also fixed a typo that had been driving me nuts. Edit 2: Added the FA notes between Synwolf and Fen, kindly provided by Synwolf.

On both her commission website http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/WeekCompletion_zps0ba1e527.png ) and the submission I saw on FA http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/DeccoBallSubmission_zps8835e900.png ) she said that the decco ball commissions would take approximately one week, but I was expecting it to take a little bit longer as she said when I was working out the details with her. Over the next few months, I saw a lot of free and personal art going up on her FA with few commissioned pieces being uploaded. I was aware that she took a brief hiatus from October 24th to November 4th, and waited a while longer before contacting her about my commission. On December 9th I contacted her about a refund http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/5_zpsbdf0155e.png ). It went read but un-responded to for a few days, so I sent her another note on the 22nd http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/6_zpsb91713ba.png ). I got a reply back saying that she had already started my commission and didn't offer refunds once the commission was started. She also said she was working on other commissions and gifts, but would rush to have it completed by Monday (Christmas Eve) and have it sent off Tuesday (Christmas). She offered to refund the shipping cost, and I asked for pictures of the progress on my commission since she couldn't refund http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/7edit_zpsca60a273.jpg ). On the 23rd, since my note was read but I hadn't seen any of the progress she said she had, I sent her another note http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/8_zps3aae39b9.png ). Shortly after sending her that note, I received the refund for shipping http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/ShippingRefund_zps52e8f933.png ). I know paypal is pretty close to instant with sending money, but I figured this one just had some sort of a hold up. A few hours after that, I got a reply http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/9_zpse269d75d.png ) saying that I should have realized that two months in her queue wasn't a long wait, and that she had things to do before me. I knew it was the holidays, and didn't really appreciate the comment about me being able to imagine her beig busy, but my notes had a constant delay being replied to after being read (as well as the weird paypal timing) and I had contacted her at what I thought was a reasonable amount of time before them. She said the refund for shipping was a partial refund, but it was exactly what was stated in the commission posting as being the shipping cost. As for her queue, I had been watching her commission progress list and hadn't seen my commission get marked as started, which is why I asked for a refund http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/ComissionProgressList_zpsa359c380.png ). At that point I lost interest in the commission entirely, and asked for a refund for the work she hadn't done. After I sent that message, she decided to post the work she had done on my commission, a few little sketches on 3/4 inch pieces of paper http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/ComissionProgress_zps9111d450.png ). Once I saw the work she said she had already completed that was preventing me from getting a refund, I once again asked to be refunded since I had no interest in having it rushed and was tired of waiting http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/10_zpse959a7e0.png ). After that, she sent me a partial refund http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/PartialRefund_zps1bc940f7.png ) said, "find, here's a refund" and that was that http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/marmalade0997/thelittlehuskee/11_zpsf60cc52d.png ). I did end up with a 50% refund on what I had paid, but I feel like two small rushed sketches weren't nearly worth the $8 I ended up paying for them. Even though the artist warned me that the decco ball might take a bit longer, she said in multiple places that they would take a week. I feel like almost three months is a long wait for a commisison that was advertised as taking a week to complete. My question is, was I unreasonable to contact the artist a week before the holidays about a refund and expect notes to not go un-replied to, and was I being overly suspicious about the long delay in seeing proof of progress that she said she had?

I mean they kinda look like that, but looks like they were just thrown together This is the image they sent me http://www.iaza.com/work/121231C/iaza18601984269100.jpg In this picture they do not look too bad, so I thought they were alright, so I agreed to finally have them shipped to me. Upon getting them I noticed the following: The soles of the shoes are already falling apart, so is the foam inside of the arch. They are extremely itchy due to all of the lose fur that is collected on them (which I understand happens, but minor clean up could of solved this.) Glue is very visible on them, as well is a gap where the fur wasn't glued to the shoe. I was very excited to receive them after 5 months, but am very displeased with the condition they are in for how long they have had them (more than double the time given to me). They look as if they were just carelessly put together. They did give me a pair of foam with fur on them (ears) and a pewter wolf necklace along with a partial refund before shipment due to how long it took to have them and the continuous missed deadlines. I Sent them an email explaining my displeasment about the said items and what I have found wrong so far. I have only gotten this morning (20 mins ago, as of Jan 4th) and I am already in tears, and not good ones. :(( http://www.iaza.com/work/121231C/iaza18601984269100.jpg <--- Images of said product These are the sheet shots of some of the most important converstations, if you need more just ask. WHAT: Digital color piece. 20$. screen shot of original conversation. Confusing to eye but otherwise all present. http://oi46.tinypic.com/25slt1j.jpg WHEN: Original transaction occurred on August 19th. Paid in full. PROOF: http://oi45.tinypic.com/etd2tl.jpg Copy of Paypal receipt to [email protected]. This email is listed publicly on her page. I also tried to contact her through this email. EXPLAIN: The commission started out great. She posted a journal that she was in need of some funds. So I responded telling her I could help her out. I ordered a flat color piece for 20$, The link is in the "WHAT" category of this submission. She was very responsive that day and the WIP was actually received the day of purchase (August 19th) Unfortunately, she didn't quite capture what I had in mind, and I offered to repay her for the new sketch and continue, but she was very professional and quickly drew me up a new one. (http://oi46.tinypic.com/1zxs57q.jpg That conversation is here) The New sketch. (HERE ***NSFW** http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee90/krimzon_wolf/macropaws.jpg) was more or less what I was looking for, On August 20th she told me she would fix one tiny thing I wanted altered and then "finish it off" that's the last time she responded to me on the account "Mutant-Serpentina" I noted her About a month later for some updates. Unanswered (the next part of documented unanswered notes here http://oi48.tinypic.com/aw9l0.jpg) Over a month after that. No Answer. At this point I was ready to put it off as a loss. I also tried emailing her and responding to her tumblr. Both Went unanswered. I really don't understand tumblr so I might have done it wrong? Around the end of November I noticed a piece of art on the homepage, the account name "Arody" which is the same as her first name on Paypal. Her Hotmail for commissions is also located on this page. I noted her with the question "did you move accounts" she responded with (http://oi45.tinypic.com/2quu6gx.jpg) In Which I responded with a firm note explaining how unfair to her commissioners it is that she switch accounts without informing any of them. which went unread. I find this in EXTREMELY bad taste and a pure lack of any responsibility on her behalf, continuing to post personal images without responding to anything on her main account. I have not heard back from her since November 30th and have noted her 3 times since then, All of which unanswered. Also upon examining her page. I noticed others have been posting on her wall asking about the status of their orders. Recently every note on her page has been sponged, including all the notes exclaiming her "absence" one in particular by what I assume to be a friend of hers said something along the lines of "Some people just don't understand that you don't have access to internet serp" In which was BEFORE she had continued to post on another account. In Reply to such, even IF she didn't have access to internet. I'm paying her for a service, there are many free ways to access the internet to reply with a note exclaiming her lack of such.. She also doesn't need internet to finish a piece of artwork. Also as a side note on on this journal, someone has asked for a paypal refund and has to this day gone unchecked http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3694248/. As of this moment I have NOT asked for a refund. Because I would still like the artwork finished. I find Mutant-serpentina/Arody's actions to be completely inexcusable and completely irresponsible for an artist. There's no excuse for not reading or answering notes and not replying to emails from a paid commissioner. Note to Artist: I would prefer to have the commission completed as to the fact I much enjoyed the sketch, but a complete refund will suffice. Feel free to note me on my FA account "Jhusky" or email me at [email protected]. I expect to hear from you VERY soon. -Jhusky

In the link provided above (Next to Where), I was holding a Prepose auction for Applejack from My Little Pony: Friendship is magic. It runs off smoothly, until I noticed Vendeancez posts a bid of £600, which roughly translates to almost 1000 USD. So I ask him if this was a real bid, as that seemed a bit of a large bid in itself; I also told him what £600 translates to in American money. He says he was legitimately bidding, so I allow it, and I place him as bidder in the lead with £600 / $975. He asks if he won, so he could pay and I'd start on the picture asap, but I told him that there's no auto-buyout, and that he'd have to wait until the auction ends (which would be tomorrow on Saturday). So in response to that, he drops down a bid of £3000, which rather shocked me, which made me curious as to why he was in such a hurry to make this auction end with him as the winner, so I PM him about it; he says that information is classified, which made me kind of suspicious, but I don't like prying in other people's business. I basically told him that 3000 pounds equates to nearly $5000 and asking if he's aware of that. Conversation linked below: http://imageshack.us/a/img832/1616/usercontrolpanelfuraffi.png http://imageshack.us/a/img543/1616/usercontrolpanelfuraffi.png http://imageshack.us/a/img715/1616/usercontrolpanelfuraffi.png http://imageshack.us/a/img39/1616/usercontrolpanelfuraffi.png As you can see, the end result of that transaction.. So I report him to the FA admins, and post a warning about him on my journal on FA. He gets suspended for three days, and fearing that someone else might try and pull that stunt on that auction, I closed it early, giving it to the previous person that was in the lead, Avalon487 with a $450 bid. This whole thing was just confusion, with a troll/scamming bidder to try and cause confusion and disrupt the whole auction process. Original: https://artists-beware.livejournal.com/646177.html WHO: Otterman89, Bradley WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/otterman89/ WHAT: Digital art, comic. WHEN: November 2nd 2012 - ongoing PROOF & EXPLAIN: In the LJ cut! I had hoped not to have to post here... but here we go! Otterman89 posted a thread on FAF looking for an artist to do a comic series for him. It appears that out of the people that posted their prices, mine were cheapest so I got a note from him on the mainsite even though I asked him to email. (I prefer email because Gmail keeps it threaded and I can open the entire convo at once.) His note, asking a few questions about what I will do, confirming price and asking if he can do it in spurts of a few pages at a time (while still getting the lower rate) since he doesn't like to spend a lot of money at once. ... At 20 pages, the project would be $200. My return note, answering said questions and showing him my comic process. He then sent me his already scripted out (very clearly and easy to follow) comic. It was indeed 20 pages and didn't have any content that was too weird for me. I give him a little more information and confirm that he wants me to do it. He chooses for a Saturday release when he gets pages. This wouldn't be EVERY Saturday I understood, but only when he gave me the go-ahead for more pages. I asked how many pages to do and he said a cover page and the first two pages. I asked again for his email address and said I would send the sketches of all three pages by Friday (Nov 9th) for his approval. He never did send me his email address, so on Nov 8th I send him a note containing a link to the sketches and ask a couple of questions as to the title of the comic and if he wants handwritten text or computer text. He appears happy so far, so I go ahead. We have a little back and forth about when he should post the comics on his gallery. I like to space it a little so that it can possibly increase the amount of people viewing it. Here I should have waited until he actually paid me before finishing the pages, but since I wanted to make good on my promised release date, I went ahead with them. I email him on the agreed date to let him know that the pages are ready and I will send them once I am paid. I still haven't heard from him by the next day so I send him a note with links to the finished pages. Shortly after I get a note saying that he can't pay me for a week because suddenly this other artist he wanted a commission from had an auction going and he decided to bid on it. Nevermind that the work he wanted from me was ready to go. In the interest of keeping peace, I just thanked him for letting me know and said I will be looking forward to next weekend. I did not post the finished pages or give him the pages. He only got to see low res, watermarked copies. Two hours later he mentions a change that he hadn't during the sketch stage. That the characters are actually supposed to be the same height. It hadn't occured to me to ask this, but I had gone through his gallery looking at other drawings of these two and they seemed to be of different heights so that is what I did. It was my mistake though. We agreed to change it for later pages, as in these ones it was only thee panels that showed the difference and not such a big deal. Two days later he changes his mind and asks me to fix it. I get it done. (not pictured in the screen shot is the note from me on Nov14 saying okay and his on the same day saying thanks.) I sent him a money request on the 17th. I didn't hear from him so on the 18th I sent a reminder note and on the 19th I resent a money request using the 'invoice' tab. On the 20th he responds and says he hasn't seen it. reminder, invoice screenie He pays the invoice on the 20th and apologises for the wait. Also says that he will be looking forward to this weekends pages. Emailed the sketches two days later as he indicated on the 20th he wanted more pages for the 24th. I don't seem to have his approval of the sketches saved, but I know he did. I didn't hear from him that weekend, so on the 26th I sent him a note with links to the low res watermarked files to prove they were ready. And an invoice which I dated for the 14th just in case. My mistake was probably saying "They are ready for you whenever you are ready to pay," as this is when the real trouble for me starts. As I was completely ignored until 4 days later when he sent me this note about how the game expansion he wants is on sale so he wants to buy it while he still can. I am miffed at this point, but send back an understanding note saying that my sister is into that game so I understand that he wants it and to keep me in the loop about what he is up to. He sends a note saying "Kk :)" then the next day tries to placate me (I guess) with this note. So the weekend of the 8th goes by and I get nothing from him. No update notes or payment or anything. In the time from when I sent him the invoice on the 26th up until the due date on the 14th, I sent him two reminders.. I am not sure of the days since I don't know if PayPal keeps a record of that. I was very annoyed at this point, so I sent him a note about it. He tries to tell me that he wasn't ignoring me (though he was) and gives me a tale about how he is addicted to art and everyone offers such great deals at this time of the year that he can't help himself. Also about how he should be getting more hours at work but isn't. Excuses... but then says twice that his goal is to pay everyone by Jan 1st 2013. ... Okay I will not get mad at him, because I would like to see this money. I reply and leave it at that. [Archiving Mod Note: Please note that we would not permit information such as this currently.] While all this time of him not paying me is going on, I see him on the FA forums making threads about getting more commissions so it is ticking me off that he has me and apparently a bunch of other artists to pay still and is STILL commissioning more art. Wanting a ref pic... Wanting some kind of fanart... Wanting a WoW pic... Wanting a Lion King pic... Wanting a 2ft plushie made... I restrained myself from posting in any of those threads. Keeping myself professional and not calling him out. On the 17th I got another note with another excuse as to why he couldn't pay me. This time I ignored him because I couldn't trust myself to stay polite. I decided to just wait and see if he would pay me by Jan 1st as his goal stated. Meanwhile, I check his FA page a little and see he is uploading an awful lot of art, although if any are gifts/freebies, I don't know. Forty-eight pictures between the day he commissioned me and today (Jan 2nd). None of them being the pages from me that he did pay for. However, one is a LK picture (he posted looking for one on Dec15th and this was uploaded Dec22nd) which makes me wonder why he could pay that artist who was commissioned after me but not me. Some of the other pictures may have been those other artists from December that he owed, but I have no way of knowing. So on Jan 2nd I sent him another note asking how the payment was coming along and he now promises by this weekend. I really shouldn't have let it drag out this long (although it is not nearly as long as most of the stories here), but I was afraid that if I rocked the boat, I wouldn't see anything at all... but that is what I am seeing now. I sure hope I see that money on the weekend. In either case, I decided several weeks ago that I will not be working with him further on this project but wanted to wait until he paid for the current batch of pages before telling him. I also wanted to hold off on the A_B post until he at least paid me, but I am afraid I won't so I chose to go forward with this post. Beware of Otterman89. Do not do anything (he typically only asks for two types of drawings... tongues tied together or private parts locked together) until he pays you... which I mean, that should go without saying already. Live and learn I suppose. ______ Update- While waiting for this entry to get approved the following has happened... I waited over the weekend and heard nothing from him. In the afternoon on Monday the 7th I sent him a note telling him that I can not work on his project any longer. This is what I already intended to tell him, even if he had paid me. He sends a note back one minute later saying that he was just about to send the money. Personally, I don't believe him, but I am firm about not working with him any longer... though I would still like to get the money. caps of that exchange After that, he asked for my PP address again and FINALLY paid me. So, I guess this is resolved. Now I just have to convince him that I won't do any more pages... at least that I won't do anything until the batch is paid for in advance. No sketches or anything.

Original: https://artists-beware.livejournal.com/645523.html EDIT: The payment as of so far has not been revoked, however, the user in question has never explained himself why he yanked my funds, or even considered the fact that he was in the wrong. However, I'm rather disgusted right at this moment with Artist's beware, whom seemed to have focused on attacking me rather than answering my question. 1. Guys, paypal wasn't my issue. I got a guyfriend to call in and it was all good. 2. My legitimate question was whether or not I should expect him to make up for this mess. 3. Should I even touch the money he tries to send? WHO: Saphiros off of furaffinity- http://www.furaffinity.net/user/saphiros from his pony account http://www.furaffinity.net/user/twentypercentcooler. WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/twentypercentcooler WHAT: Digital art of a fat twilight sparkle- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9200009/ WHEN: November 6th during an art show, this was commissioned. Shortly after, I noticed the payment was not in my paypal. I stuck an UNPAID squiggle over the image and notified the user via shout that the payment didn't go through. On the 7th of november he responded with an apology and assured me he resent the money. On the 22nd of december I received a note with an apology and another payment for the payment he never sent. This time instead of ten, he sent twenty, which I didn't touch because I was wary of the reversed payments. Shortly after christmas I transferred the money to my bank account, at which point he reversed payment. The money was drawn from my bank account, since the money was in transit, and overdrafted me, PROOF: http://i49.tinypic.com/1o4vp2.jpg my shout http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9200009/ the art http://i50.tinypic.com/64dx03.jpg his reply http://i46.tinypic.com/33lhyer.jpg reversed payment details http://i48.tinypic.com/290y1pk.jpg the note saying he sent the twenty for my trouble EXPLAIN:On November 6th I did a stream for 10$ full colors. This individual twentypercentcooler asked for a fat pony for his account, main account saphiros. The user's payment, supposedly, was sent to the wrong paypal, and I just marked the submission as being unpaid and was going to let it go, since there are a LOT of scammers nowadays. He messaged me in response to my comment that the payment was wrong, and apologized and sent me twenty to unmark the payment as unpaid for. He seemed embarrassed. On the 22nd of December I unmarked the image, and on the 26th I transferred the money to my bank, at which point he issued a contest with paypal. The money to refund was withdrawn from my bank account with a $18.22 balance, and left me a 35$ overdraft fee for the 1.78 I didn't have. The money, as of 12/28, after another user prodded him, was resent once again and as of yet has not been revoked. Paypal will not accept a phone call from me, the owner of the account, due to the fact that I have a man's name and am vocally quite obviously not a male. Their phone center is based in India or somewhere, I believe and the two people I've talked to insisted on speaking with a man. However, the reason for the contest was simply put that the user did not receive said 'physical goods' and I'm not covered for intangible goods. Sad day, indeed. When I originally tried to post the ad, the user had not responded. A response has been made, as well as payment, but I am afraid to touch the money, since he has revoked it twice already. Even still if I do get to keep the money, my bank account is in the red, and the user has not been truthful or forthcoming with information. I feel as if he's only made this latest payment to cover his own tail in the face of embarrassment. I believe he has done this to people before, as there are several cached hidden comments on DA of people commenting on his art info about being a scammer. http://i45.tinypic.com/bgd3z5.jpg What should I do? Should I expect him to compensate me for my loss? In addition, should I expect a full explanation as to why he contested my service? He blemished my record at my paypal and my bank. re readable.

I think it's a very complicated scenario and not a black and white situation. 1. How long has it been? People make mistakes in their youth. I'm not going to hold someone who has aged and matured to what they did as a teenager. So long as their current practices are good, then I think people deserve a second chance. 2. If it's more recent, then was the minor open about being a minor? If so, then I'm going to hold the adults responsible for seeing someone who is clearly a minor and commissioning them anyway for NSFW material. Yes, adults can end up in legal trouble for discussing sexual material with a minor, however many places have clauses that excuse people who unknowingly interact with a minor. If the minor lied, and it later came out that they lied, then I personally may avoid them for a while.

By the stars what a nightmare client. I'm so sorry you had to put up with this over $15. I see you've already raised your prices, so I'm glad on that front. Honestly, I always say when clients like this come and visit me, I know it's time to raise my prices and keep going until they disappear.

You have a few options at your disposal: Cut your losses and demand a refund. (If that fails, call your bank and force one.) Go public with your issues and see if others also have the same problems. Continue to wait. It sounds like this is a company that uses manufacturers to produce their toys. Shipment delays do happen, and larger items would have to be sent via boat. So it could legitimately be that they're going slowly through their queue of customers. It's going to be up to you if you're willing to continue waiting.

Unfortunately, "unauthorized payments" are almost always ended in the client's favor. Especially if they are initiated by the bank. I'm not sure if you used their automated system or called them, but in some rare instances Paypal will make the seller whole out of their own funds. However, we've only seen this happen once or twice.

Russian artists are moving to using Boosty.to. The good news is that Boosty also works for Ukrainian artists, as Paypal doesn't function (normally). Navigating to the site, click "Sign Up" which pops up this window: We utilized a facebook account. Once you get set up and confirm your account, you can start paying artists. Please note, when I tested this the site did not accept Google Voice numbers. I had to use my actual phone number. The artist that you're paying will tell you how many RUB to send as the site only accepts RUB and not USD. Paypal's currency converter is here. Note: You have to be logged in to see it. You can either subscribe to an artist or add a "donation" to their pool. Subscriptions act just like Patreon: While a "goal" is set to a high number of RUB where you will submit your commission payment. Once you hit "Pay" you will be able to choose where the funds will come from. Note: Once you've chosen where the funds will come from, they will always come from there. You may have to unlink and relink your Paypal in order to change this. Some questions you didn't know you had: Will I be charged an international fee for paying in RUB? As far as I can tell, no. The conversion takes place on Paypal, so when it hits your bank it will be in USD. If I have to file a chargeback, will Paypal side with me or consider this a donation? Because this form of payment is very new, there is no telling how Paypal will treat these. These are listed as "donations" on site, so there is a chance that depending on if you use their automated system you may lose the case automatically. Please be sure to call Paypal if you have troubles. More info will be added here once I've tested with a bank card.

Edit: July 22, 2023 Bewares on Russian artists are being accepted again for digital goods only. Due to the invasion of Ukraine we will not be accepting bewares from artists from Ukraine nor Russia. Currently Ukrainian artists are fleeing to safety and Russian artists may have their access to certain sites blocked by their government. In addition, payment processors may be blocked in their country due to potential sanctions, making refunds impossible. Citizens in each of these countries are facing extreme circumstances out of their control, and they should be afforded time and empathy. Because this is a developing situation, we do not have a time frame from when we will accept posts on artists from these countries again.
