    1. CANCELLATIONS, TERMINATIONS AND REFUNDS
          A. If the commission must be cancelled, please contact us as soon as possible. The first 30% placed down is nonrefundable and considered a payment over our time AND design processes.

          B. If the commission must be cancelled, please contact us as soon as possible. The first 30% placed down is nonrefundable and considered a payment over our time, the design process and materials.

This is repeated twice, unless that was intentional?

     C. If payments still need to be made and there has been a cease in contact after 3 months, the commission will be terminated and there will be no refund.

"C. If payments are still due on a commission, and there has been no contact with the client within 3 months, the commission will be considered terminated without refund." Would probably sound better.

    52 minutes ago, alecrimcarmim said:

    D. Refunds are not immediate and will be made over time, according to each case.

"D. Refunds will be returned in monthly payments, dependent on the amount of the refund, and is on a case-by-case basis."

    E. We reserve ourselves the rights to terminate an Artistic Liberty  quote at any time a client is accountable for communication difficulties (client providing repeatedly vague replies, messages taking more than a week delay to be answered by the client, fearmonger behavior, constant disrespectful language, continually delays caused by client side, client requesting multiple design/production changes without payment made, client requesting payment postpone or price revaluation multiple times, etc);

"E. We reserve the right to terminate an Artistic Liberty quote at any time.

    F. Clients are responsible for their end of the communication. Clients who repeatedly provide vague responses, response delays longer than a week, disrespectful behavior, multiple design and/or production changes without payment, and/or clients who request multiple price revisions or postponements may find their Artistic Liberty quotes terminated with or without notice."

Splitting these into two separate categories seems like the better (and clearer) way to do it. This way you always have the right to terminate a quote at any time, with or without warning, and give people reasons or not.

    1.2 REGULAR COMMISSION:
          A. If a refund is requested, the rest of the payment made until that point (minus the nonrefundable initial 30%) will be refunded. Fursuit work completed will remain as Alecrim Carmim property (we will make modifications to the client original design and might re-sell the project as a premade to cover the slot costs).

The 1.2 here should be 1.1.

"A. Please note that the initial 30% of payments are non-refundable. If a refund is requested, payments made above that will be refunded. Fursuit work completed will remain as Alecrim Carmim property. Usually this means that we will make modifications to the original design and re-sell the project as a premade."

     B. An order might be terminated if at anytime during the commission process the client breach the terms stated in this Terms Of Service. An email will be sent to the commissioner with the termination notice (and a brief explanation of the termination reasons) and the quote sent will be void.  The studio has no claim over the client designs on Regular Commission projects.

"B. An order may be terminated at any time due to breach of terms by the client. An email will be sent to the client with the termination notice and reasons, and any quotes made to the client will be voided. The studio has no claims over client designs on Regular Commission projects."

    1 hour ago, alecrimcarmim said:

    C. In case of termination after the first nonrefundable 30% was placed down, any fursuit production will be kept by the studio and a new concept with a few changes will be made to proceed with a premade design development in order to cover for our costs in material, time and production. The studio has no claim over the client designs on Regular Commission projects.

This really just repeats A and B, and can likely be removed.

Design and/or fursuit work completed will remain as Alecrim Carmim property (we might make modifications to the design and re-sell as a premade piece to cover the slot costs).

If this policy is the same for both types, may want to move it up under the general policy as point G.

    Same for this.

And this repeats A and B again.

    Another repeat.

"A. We reserve the rights to blacklist clients that fail to adhere to these Terms of Service. Clients on the black list will be unable to receive quotes for evaluation or purchase premade designs that we may release in the future."

I'm on mobile at the moment, but when I get home later this evening, I can help with anything else, or provide more suggestions.

I might have to disagree with a good portion of that, Celestina. When an adoptable is sold, it becomes a "This character now belongs to (insert name)" situation. When a commissioner has already had art made of the said character, attempting to revoke said rights of the character to that buyer would become a messy ordeal.

I'll use myself as an example: If I were to buy an adoptable, then I have a full-fledged reference sheet made to the character along with multiple pieces of artwork, then the original artist comes along and no longer wishes for me to use the character, they gave up on the rights to the character when the money exchanged hands. They can, however, attempt to make a deal to purchase back the character and the art to compensate for the rights, but then the artists of the other artworks will need to be notified as well for proper-credit or removal-requests. To further on this, if I were to deny the deal, then that is where this would end. However, the artist who made the original adopt art can request the original art to be removed if I were to have uploaded that to my own gallery(-ies) through one-on-one contact or through the administration means.

Legally though, that's incorrect. Unless a contract was made and signed assigning all rights of that character (in other words, its likeness) to you at the time of purchase, then the artist who originally created the likeness remains the copyright holder, as per Boozy's thread. You can disagree with that all you like, but that doesn't change the legality of it.

Yep! You can also click on the "Posted X minutes/hours/days" ago for the latest comment.

    I noticed that links in the beware descriptions aren't actually clickable links, meaning you'd have to copy and paste them into your URL bar manually to visit websites. Which can be a bit iffy when someone pastes multiple links to multiple accounts into their beware ^^;

I also noticed that there's no "comments" link on the preview of bewares. Like, when you click the number of comments on previews, it would take you to the first comment left, on the bottom of the article~

Just some tiny things I noticed!

    1.jpg

Hiya! Because of the nature of the Where field, it won't convert links to URLs. We could change the field to be a full editor text box which would, but that wont be backwards compatible.

As far as new comments are concerned, the link for unread content is a button to the left of the beware, like such:

    Screenshot_20190323-144721_Chrome.thumb.jpg.c32336d8eea77e4c7f3748220ce04841.jpg

Clicking that red button should bring you to the first unread comment. I'll take a look at adding a link to the Comments text as well, but have no time frame for that.

    The new AutoModerator is spiffy!

Great idea and I hope that frees up some time for you guys.

Not so much. It helps that a mod will be able to see hidden replies and if one of them violates the Code of Conduct, they can respond "Rules" and the AutoMod flags it now. Still takes some moderator time.

I saw that the site now has a red NSFW tag that really stands out.

Would it be possible to have such a tag for Resolved entries? I personally believe it should be more attention-worthy if situations got resolved as it's kind of a big deal. Maybe a green "Resolved" tag would fit.

    Done!

Also I don't see any way to sort bewares, for example viewing them as recently posted, recent comments, alphabetically, etc.  It would be nice if that could be added for the main bewares page https://artistsbeware.info/beware/ ?

This is available in the category view on the database.

I much preferred when the front page showed the most recently commented on posts at the top, instead of the newest thread posted.  Now I have to dig around and hunt to find new comments on stuff that's fallen off the front page.

This is an ongoing discussion. Some like it sorted by newest bewares, some like it sorted by recent comments. I'll go ahead and tag @Celestina for this.

  8. I am the one who hides in the shadows, kind of like the Grimm, but I'm worse. I fix things. I fix all the things. You can contact me if:

    • You run into an error code. These will usually display as their own page with error codes such as 1x/c35a.
    • You run into permission errors, such as "I should be able to post in X area (forum, database) and can't."
    • A theme breaks (which can happen with upgrades).
    • A language bit is missing or incorrect (These will display as application_language_name). Most of the regular items you see on site (such as menu items, names of forums or directories, etc) are language items. If anything appears incorrect, please let me know. If you would like a translation, please also let me know, as the site (in theory) can be translated.

Or any other problem related to the hosting or coding of the site.

    Cheers!

It's been a week since I sent the email and still no response, and I doubt I'll get one. I also sent a shout on their FA page today, though I doubt that will get me anywhere either.

Idk if it's be worth making a beware on them at this point? Do disappearing artists actually turn up again after a year or more absence? Idk if it's even worth pursuing this any longer, like, I'm not even mad, just really disappointed ?

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I would probably continue with the Beware just so others don't get caught too, but that's just my personal opinion.

  10. An update has been pushed for Member Hover Cards on Desktop devices. Hovering over User Names with the mouse will produce a Hover Card, with the options to contact a user or find their content:

    image.png.b25758c7c659214078f168d724175bc3.png

You can, of course, still click on the username should you wish to go to the member's profile. By visiting your profile, you can add a Quote to your hover card, like such:

But I'm able to add reactions to Cel's posts just fine?  Their profile says they're an admin.

This was unintended, and likely happened when the Administrator/Web Admin split was made. It should be resolved. The main listings on the Bewares should be resolved. Home page should also be fixed now. Still working on why Reputation can't be given to Bewares by members.

  12. 8 hours ago, Kei said:

I'm not seeing the reactions on any bewares, though?  There's never an option for them on bewares.

Also this is odd, but I never get the reaction option on any of your posts, even in the forums section.  I can react to everyone else's posts in the forums but I never get the option for you specifically.

My posts, as well as moderator and administrator posts all have reputation disabled on them. The reactions not being on bewares is strange though. I'll look into this.

I notice since logging in today that it's only showing Cautions on the front page instead of all bewares like before.  I much preferred when it was showing all of the newest bewares at a glance on the front page instead of me having to navigate through several pages to be able to see them all.

This is because @Celestina updated the Bewares database with new categories and didn't set them to display :classic_tongue:. I'll fix it as soon as I can get to a computer.

Cel said I could drop this post in the Site Questions forum for now.  I figure if anyone else has similar feedback, just drop it in the comments here to keep everything in one place?

+I like that mods/admins can add a visible Resolved!-type message on bewares themselves, instead of only in the comments.  Here's an example where they did so: https://artistsbeware.info/beware/submissions/kircai-r124/

+Having the site organized so bewares are separate from other posts is really nice.  Quicker and easier to navigate than using all the tags on LJ.

+Having those reaction buttons in the forum section is nice.  I personally always felt weird/lame when replying to a comment on the LJ comm just to say "I agree" and nothing else.  It felt kind of useless?  I feel I can show the same agreement now with the reaction button and it keeps me from cluttering up the replies.

I'm very glad you're enjoying the site! Took a little while to get everything put together just so, and we're obviously still working out a few of the kinks. The Reactions you're noticing extend site-wide as well. They're on bewares, resources, etc!

    When messaging me:
-Try not to remove previous things said in the note/email! It's easier for me when all info is one place.
-Please don't put your info in a giant paragraph. Keep it easy for me to read and to understand! Bullet points would be best if there’s a lot of info!
-Try not to give me unneeded info. (Unneeded meaning it wouldn't help me make the commission. For example, if you're wanting a bust shot commission and you did not say feet were going to be in the image, there is no need to describe the feet (or anything that won't be seen))

I would go with something along the lines of:

    Messaging Me:

When replying to a message, please leave previous messages intact.

Please keep messages concise, bulleted lists are best.

Try not to add unnecessary information or details. For example, a bust commission doesn't need details about feet.

Right now, it's showing all bewares that are being posted, but it looks like these are meant for archives.
I think it would be more useful if it was actual recent bewares, and not the archived ones.
I have no idea if you can filter it out or not.

This should be fixed. Archives had somehow arbitrarily been added to the approved list for the front page.
