  4. I paid Lapis $100 for this YCH back in April of 2023, before I largely departed from the fandom. It was to contain two of my characters, one of which I don't even own anymore. This is proof of payment, as best I can manage, given it was done through boosty. Immediately there seemed to be a trend of me having to ask multiple times for a response, and it would be five months from payment before I received any sort of WIP. After several attempts to contact Lapis over ~4 MORE months, I finally received a long explanation as to why it hadn't been done yet. I strove to be amicable as I understand how bad burnout can get, as an artist myself. After this, it would be a couple MORE months (over a year at this point) before I heard from her again. It took commenting on her FA, and eventually tracking her down on Telegram to finally get a response. I'm of the belief that clients should not have to hunt down their artists. Note: I HAD started an Artists Beware post, but as she started contacting me in the middle of revising it, I stopped because I thought she'd gotten her act together. She had not. So anyway, under threat of an AB post, she suddenly regained the ability to respond to messages, and the following conversation ensued. I was willing to talk it out and admit that I had been speaking from a place of anger, and I figured things would be better from here. Note: I traded one of the characters who was supposed to be in this YCH to someone, who apparently contacted Lapis asking them to change her to one of the characters that became mine in the trade. This was not my idea nor was I consulted about it in the slightest. Lapis did not even attempt to confirm this decision with me. Unfortunately, she began ghosting me again. I made several attempts over the last two-ish months to contact her, during which she apparently had time to post screenshots of FA's twitter in another server, but not to acknowledge any of my messages. Blurred out the irrelevant FA Twitter drama. Only when I publicly asked her to respond, did she decide to do so. The next images will only be screenshots of the conversation that followed in its entirety. I was very angry and my tone throughout reflects that- but after being strung along for 1.5 years, it's hard not to be. I'll be the first to admit I was a bit pettier than I needed to be towards the end of this discussion, and my temper did get the best of me, but being told I am being unreasonable for not enjoying being flat-out ignored for over a year while she posts art/animations daily on VK.. well. I can only hope Lapis cleans up her act moving forward- she really is a very gifted artist.
  5. Hello, If you had a similar experience with the maker, please Submit your own post to our queue. This will help boost visibility in our tag cloud and the metrics on this site as it pertains to the maker.
  6. I commissioned them in late 2021/ early 2022. I’ve had the same issues with little to no communication, and multiple missed deadlines. I haven’t gotten any form of communication since February this year. I’ve tried to be understanding as life can be chaotic. However with the lack of communication, amount of people with similar stories, and amount of time it has been I don’t think I’ll be getting that fursuit at all.
  7. Outline: - Original agreement: on 12/23/23 I reached out to Michi on FA and was told I could send them a message on Discord. After doing that, exchanging hellos, and confirming I was interested in a YCH slot, I shared my ref and sent the payment ($45) after they sent me an invoice. After which they told me it would be a day or two before they could send me a WIP, which was fine. Sure enough, they began sending WIPs, and I was happy with the work, however, after a bit, communication began to get scarcer. I reached out for an update on FA, and they got back to me with a nearly complete version, just missing some color in places and some shading. After that, all communications dropped. I tried reaching out over FA and Discord over the months, but have gone ignored. I tried to go through PayPal to get my money back, but it was declined, as it has been more than 180 days. Replaced old screenshots with some hopefully clearer quality screenshots of the Furaffinity messages with date and time, and an email has been sent, and so far has not been replied to. Also added the invoice
  8. Thanks so much for the answer. Unfortunately this artist doesn't have a ToS and we never established a deadline. But that's why I've been trying to get a hold of them. To at least get an idea of when each step would be done. I'm antsy because they haven't responded to those questions. I've commissioned many artists and have had no problem with them completing my work after 1 or 2 months, but they've always been proactive in updating me. I'll see how this develops. Hopefully the artist is okay and can answer my questions in the future. Again, thank you so much for your answer.
  9. That is your prerogative. Without getting into finer details, the artist communicated with you that there would be delays after you paid, and you got a response a month ago. You have also mentioned you and the artist have a language barrier. The commission etiquette can vary from country to country, and discussions may need to be simplified to get your point across. If you are antsy this early into the commission process, you should make a habit to look over an artist's TOS or discuss concrete deadlines for completion with an artist. I think it is unrealistic to expect weekly updates if an artist has a queue with other clients pending, and not just yourself. Especially if they offer big projects, illustrative works and pieces with multiple characters. Getting into 'what if' scenarios are often resolved by reviewing the terms you agreed to as a client and if you feel comfortable in proceeding with anyone. I personally do not bother with a lack of updates after a month, my threshold is 2-3 months without communication after payment.
  10. On July 3rd I commissioned an artist from Vgen but outside of Vgen for a drawing of 2 characters (based on a YCH pose) with a semi-complicated background (a bunch of abstract colors and bubbles). They said the rough draft would take about 3 days. After the payment they said they would be away from the computer from the 10th to the 15th. There was no problem with me then. Since then they haven't given me any updates, other than asking to be sure about the characters' placement on July 22 (one on the right and the other on the left.) This person is japanese and seems to have a limited grasp of the English language but uses a translator. Since then it's been radio silence for a month. I understand if they had lots of other commissions to attend to on Vgen, or if they were busy with life in general, but I have asked them on Twitter, Vgen and email once each about their lack of updates. Should I go for a refund? Because at this point I have no idea how long my commission is going to take, and I would rather work with someone who wouldn't ghost me like that...
  11. Well i followed an artist on bluesky. after seeing them follow me and they chatted with then saying they were a commission artist looking for work and if i was interested. And i said "Not at the moment right now But thank you very much." And got a reply saying "But why are you tight on money" As i explained "Really right now resting after doing an event last month." (For the event i was participating in artfight.) After that i got a reply that really found quite inappropriate They wanted money upfront when i wasn't interested at the moment. I've dealt with solicitors doing this on discord from servers on on ad they get dealt with quickly. But on bluesky just what is going on how do i handle this.
  12. No, this is not beware-able. It's too negligible of an issue to make a whole cautionary post about. You've been paid so you've not been ghosted on that front. If you made the work then you have the right to post it so you don't need permission from the client unless you had previously agreed to withhold posting it. If they're not crediting it, you can always file a DMCA takedown.
  13. We have told you repeatedly we do not deal in beware hypotheticals (we deal in facts and evidence, not summaries) for advice posts. You submit to our queue and get your answers that way. But I'll entertain you this once. Ideally if this client has paid you and is using the product, you're more than welcome to display it. 20$ USD doesn't grant posting exclusivity to the client. But if they aren't crediting you properly it MIGHT fall under a Caution. Although last I recall you are an "AI artist", are you not? If that's the case don't bother at all, we wouldn't take it if you paid us.
  14. An artist on a social media site I use expressed interest in someone designing them an icon and I offered my services, and he accepted and paid, and I designed him his icon, regularly showing him progress and communicating with him on Telegram. Given that he was astounded at my work, he told me he was seriously considering sending me more money (I had only charged him US$20 since I'm not a "professional"). When it was done, he approved it, and then I asked him if it was okay to post it publicly, only to get no response whatsoever, and he posted it publicly on said social media site. I repeatedly attempted communication with him there, noting that he was linking to the wrong username on the site, and even sent private messages every time he made a new post on the site (which was about once a week to every few days), only to get no response at all despite apparently having time to make other posts. I could easily make a drinking game of being ghosted like this (albeit on non-commission things in cyber communication), and it really distresses me. How should I deal with this? Is he bewareable?
  15. This version of the above comment has been approved, but for the same reasons as above we encourage people to make their own post to help boost visibility.
  16. Fursuit Maker and I agreed on a commission for one fursuit head. I paid them 450$ on the date of Feb. 24 2023 via paypal. Maker specifically requested payment using the "friends and family" option, making it impossible to get a refund through paypal... they said it would be done “March-April”, or about 2 months. Payment was made in full. Maker promised to make a head mock-up day of payment, which never happened. Maker promised the following deadlines: DEADLINE 1: Completion March-April 2023, said on Feb 25 2023. (see above) DEADLINE 2: Said they would begin in May 2023 (1 month after the first deadline.), said on Mar. 23 2023. DEADLINE 3: September 2023 (7 months after first deadline), said on Aug. 10th 2023. DEADLINE 4: would be done around Oct-November (9 months after first deadline), said on Oct. 4 2023. DEADLINE 5: Said they would try to finish by the end of the year, December (10 months after the first deadline). Said this on Nov 13 2023. All dates were missed. A 3D base was never designed, nor printed, thus Fur was never cut, etc. Maker saved only 3 reference images of the character despite me sending multiple, which implies they never intended to start work, as the updated photos had key design notes. As stated earlier, The maker made no concept images or 3d base designs, despite agreeing to do so on the date of payment. Maker told me they printed the headbase of my suit on Jan. 12 2024 (11 months after the first deadline..) but never sent an image. Maker tried to resolve the issue by promising to begin work and add paws + tail to my order, but I declined the tail so it wouldn't take as long. Maker never began the paws. I would understand if they had to halt work upon beginning my suit, I would be patient, and I have been; However they made no attempts or plans to work on my suit until Mar. 15 2024 when I had suggested I was being scammed, because I genuinely had no reason to believe I'd ever get my suit. They claimed to have printed out a base for my suit but I never saw it. Maker offered to send a free fursuit base for the wait time; I declined, and just requested my money back. Maker agreed to a refund on April 1 2024, with a deadline refund date of July 1 to pay (their own words.) No money has been received. they have ignored my messages and I suspect I have been blocked by them on Telegram. (My last message came from a complete lapse in judgement due to a build-up of frustration. I should not be so accusatory or speak in such a rude way.) I understand that their work is good quality, but their business practices are absolutely unacceptable. If they cannot even BEGIN my suit after more than a YEAR, they should not be taking new commissions. They have been working on other suits, but have never touched mine. I understand some clients are more important than others and I would not be complaining if I had waited less than a year for only a head. TL;DR Commissioned Navy for a fursuit head. Maker promised and missed 5 deadlines over the span of a year and a few months. Navy told me they printed my base, but I was never shown said base. They offered to add paws to my order for my wait, which I agreed. After a year without any work, I confronted them and requested a refund. Navy promised to refund my 450$ by July 10 2024, and then never responded to me again. ___________________________
  17. I also did a commission with Ilovejudyhopps, I paid them a couple years back and they only gave me a sketch, last year I asked them about it and they told me which email I used to commission them through and I told them and they said that they forgot; after a while of being ghosted, this past late April beginning of May I got a hold of them and asked them about it and they told me that they had it ready, I asked them if I could have it by the middle of May and they told me they would give it to me ASAP. It is now August and I've yet to receive anything and they blocked me from sending them any more messages or commenting on their posts.

  19. So I commissioned this artist almost a year ago. At first they where very interactive as fast to respond. But after paying ($195) they became very distant and after about a month sent me the first sketch for my commission. After discussing any changes they became even more infrequent updates and after a while became completely silent before the discord account got deleted. I figured something might have happened so I was about to chalk it up to a loss. But then a while later they started to still make posts on their inkbunny account. I dm'd them there to try and get an explanation but just got a line about them just forgetting before completely ghosting me there too. I even found another person who commissioned him and had almost the exact same experience here after paying they got a sketch after a month before being completely ghosted. Below are screenshots of the chats (censored the commission details cuz I know not everyone is into that).

  21. First contact was an adopt that I bid on. When I paid, the adopt was delivered. (10,40$) I then asked if they also do commissions, which they affirmed. We agreed on a commission and I paid. (93.00$) After a month on the 20.10.23 they contacted me with a new account, as they had lost access to their original one. I replied to that message, that I was a commissioner waiting for progress. They never replied to that message, so I send another on the 29.11.23, which they read, but also never replied to. I then send another message on the 16.12.23. This message was never opened. My last message was send on the 15.01.24. I have never gotten any reply or progress. At that point I lost hope. They have been posting new art on their account throughout all of this time, and still are posting new works. My boosty goals: I forgot about it for a while, but it was brought to my attention again, as another user that was ghosted by them, contacted me. I contacted them again on the 05.08.2024 after 3 days again with no response. I also contacted them on boosty on the 09.08.2024, until now I have also gotten no response
  22. Upon an intensive month long discussion amongst the Moderation Staff; we are making the decision to NO LONGER accept bewares with a price point of $20USD or Less. We are also no longer accepting virtual currency (VC) bewares; unless the VC can be converted into fiat currency. There WILL BE exceptions for the usual bad faith suspects; as well as anyone who may be developing a pattern of offering very low price point products and not delivering. It will be handled on a case by case basis, as all our posts are.
  23. Also seen this happens a lot on discord servers. especially since i tend to get these types and block on site. As well got some banned off servers. since it's very easy to find and report then. (There's usually big tells.) Artists don't dm people to ask for commissions. Since the art speaks for itself as well as experience.
  24. Yes, I've learned (unfortunately, the hard way) not to deal with these people. Luckily I didn't send a lot of money to the artist in question I'm dealing with on Instagram right now.
  25. I am in a hundred percent agreement with James. There is a time and place where an artist hawking at/approaching the customer one-on-one is acceptable and fair game. It is unfortunately not in an online space. Are you even following these people who approach you first and/or doing research on them before agreeing to giving over your money? Because it seems you're able to discover they're no good after the fact so why not before hand?
  26. Firstly, you should stop sending anyone who approaches you money. They are all most certainly scammers, not actual artists. Once you've already proven yourself to be a viable mark, these scammers will continue to approach you. It may even be that it'a all the same organization or the same person behind it all. Stop sending these people money.
  27. Within this month and last, countless artists have been approaching me to beg me to commission them, and I mistakenly obliged to a few, including one that swindled me out of $1000+ of my money (which I am still fighting, and I have reported to everyone in that regard), and there's one on Instagram who showed no examples of their work on their page, evidently showed examples from another artist via DM, and is producing subpar work when showing progress on my art, explicitly plagiarizing the reference images I provided them. How should I approach them?
