This artist is by far one of the best artists i've ever gone to as far as commissions is concerned. She is very fast, and has a very good business model in regards to commissions. This person can also animate for you if you wish. The person can also do NSFW art, as well. Even though the prices are a bit on the higher side, it is made up for it in exceptional high picture quality and skill. I am a regular customer of this person, and would highly recommend going to them. The person can draw just about anything, including anime, and furries. The person isnt as popular, and doesnt have a big giant following, but their art is extremely good. Here is a drawing of me and one of my other characters at a beach, as a good example of their work. Proof of everything I have mentioned below can be found at the bottom of this post due to awkward mobile screenshot sizes. After seeing their fursuit commission ad on Twitter in June of 2021, I decided to submit a form through RetroFursuits' website for a partial. This would consist of a head, hand paws, feet paws, and a tail. RetroFursuits eventually responded to my submission and sent me an email quoting the total price as $1425. I have included all of our email correspondence discussing details of my suit, proof of payments from Paypal, our Telegram conversation after that, and the refund I received on August 21st 2025. I utilized a payment plan to pay off the $1425, and as you can see, I was prompt and fully paid it in 3 months. You can also see that it didn't take long for red flags to arise when it came to replies from RetroFursuits. It took an entire year (July 2022) to be TOLD that Retro has begun looking for fur colors, and then it took another 3 months (October 2022) to be sent pictures of swatches from an online store. I requested a different photo of the third swatch as it was hard to see the color with the studio lighting, and that email went ignored. I waited five whole months for a response to that inquiry before deciding to nudge them again, because I was starting to get nervous. I was 20 (turned 21 in July of 2021) when I ordered this suit and had never spent so much money on a hobby item before. Figuring they might just not check their email very often, I decided to ask in March of 2023 if they had a Discord or Telegram dedicated to fursuit updates, as friends who've commissioned fursuits have mentioned being part of such a thing in the past. This email was also ignored. I waited until September of 2023, over 2 years since I had begun payments for this commission, before nudging them again. In that email, I also asked why my label on their Trello still said "not paid", 2 years after paying it off. I was beginning to consider a refund, but I liked their art and I wanted to be considerate to them, knowing they work a full-time night shift job and understanding that I was at the bottom of their queue. In the Trello link I provided above, you can see there are still commissioners waiting on their products from as early as 2020. I was at the very bottom of RetroFursuit's "Currently working on" card, and was only added to that in February of 2025. I do not have a screenshot of this from his Trello because I didn't think I would need it and they were quick to remove me from their queue after requesting a refund. I have, however, have provided a screenshot of me mentioning as much in a Discord group with my friends and excitedly linking the Trello to them (coincidentally while I was talking about how nervous I was that their communication is so poor yet they seem to have a lot of time to make premade heads to sell on Dealer's Den - something that can be freely seen while scrolling through their RetroFursuits Twitter account). RetroFursuits then provided me with their Telegram, so all communication was moved over there. I greeted them in a DM the same day they provided me with their Telegram (November 4th 2023) and mentioned how excited I was to see the head base. These messages were ignored. I nudged them a little over a month later (December 20th 2023) asking for any updates, and to their credit, they did provide me with two WIP photos of the head base. However, when I asked about the head shape and provided an updated, cleaner reference sheet for Retro to work off of, my message was once again ignored. 5 months later (May 19th 2024), I nudged them once again asking for an update. Again, to their credit, they provided me with screenshots the next day and progress had, in fact, been made. I expressed my excitement. No further updates. I waited one full year to the day (May 19th 2025) to ask them for any other updates. My message was ignored. I nudged them again on May 28th of 2025. The next day, May 29th, they stated that they were busy working on the others in their queue but had bought two of the fur swatches needed for my suit. I excitedly responded in the morning. On August 21st 2025, after seeing little progress on anyone else's commissions and witnessing RetroFursuits consistently only making premade partials for Dealer's Den and tails on Etsy for months, I finally asked for a refund. Four years and $1425 later, the only progress on my partial had been a rough foam base and half of the fur needed to make my suit. Retrofursuits, for the first time in four years, responded within minutes offering me a full refund - but only after I threatened legal action if they decided to flake out me again. I am not the only one of his commissioners who's unhappy, but their stories are theirs to tell. I will say, as of August 22nd 2025, after months of only posting premade listings, con photos, and miscellaneous tweets, RetroFursuits has posted commission WIPs. This, coincidentally, occurred hours after I requested a refund due to their poor communication. I would like to point out that the first character in the "commission WIPs" screenshot has been in RetroFursuit's Trello queue since March 2020. After over 5 YEARS, this individual - who is at the very top of RetroFursuit's queue - is only an eyeless, toothless, noseless head. According to their Trello, RetroFursuits HAS sewn the hand paws and made the outdoor feetpaws pattern for this commissioner, but as far as I can tell, there is no public proof of any of this other than the incomplete head they posted August 22nd of 2025. RetroFursuits consistently mentions when posting their premades that they have been working on them "off and on" since 2020/2021, despite having a commission queue pending from the same timeframe. I would understand making a premade every now and then to avoid art block, but the most recent completed commission was posted on September 18th, 2024. The second most recent mention of a completed commission was on April 28th, 2023. Unless they are, for some reason, completing these in private and not posting photos to social media, that would mean that RetroFursuits has completed just two commissions - all of which from 2020/2021 - in just shy of 2 and a half years. All the while making time to complete 6 premade heads and an abundance of tails to sell on Etsy in that same timeframe. All of this can be seen on RetroFursuit's Twitter, but I have included screenshots for posterity and ease of access. For transparency: RetroFursuits has also recently posted pictures of a red/purple fox fursuit head they're working on without much context, but considering it does not match any of the characters in their commission queue, I would wager that it's another premade. I am not accusing them of that in this individual case. I just did not want to be accused of cherry-picking evidence by not including it here. SCREENSHOTS: Pictures 1–7: Email correspondence between RetroFursuits and I regarding the details of the fursuit commission. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Pictures 8–12: Proofs of payment sent automatically to my email from Paypal. My name and RetroFursuits' name have been censored for privacy reasons. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. Pictures 13-18: Telegram correspondence regarding fursuit commission and, eventually, the refund. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. \ Picture 19: Discord screenshot of me telling friends that my card on RetroFursuit's Trello was moved to the "currently working on" section. Pictures 20-: Screenshots from RetroFursuit's Twitter & proof from their Trello. Over the past few years between when the commission was made and when it was finally refunded, the artist continued to take and finish commissions. Scrolling through the creator's social media and trello makes it very clear to see.

Summary of My Experience June 12th, 2024 I contacted Quetzal on their telegram account after seeing a journal advertisement for discounted commissions on their Furaffinity page. Initially they were prompt with their communication to me and by the very next day June 13th, 2024 we had come to an agreement on my commission description and i paid them $100 via Boosty. The problems began when i reached out to them about a month later on July 24th, 2024 to ask for an update on Telegram. My message was read, but i never received a reply. I didn't think much of it at the time, as i do try to give artists leniency. More time passed, and i attempted to reach out by both Telegram message and Furaffinity notes, but never received a reply to any of them. Note: The artist was active in posting submissions and journals on FA during this time. After over a year of no contact, the artist deleted our Telegram chat which caused me to ask for a refund, only to get blocked on Telegram. Now i stand $100 short and nothing to show for it. The Initial Contact June 12th, 2024 i contacted Quetzal on Telegram after seeing a journal advertisement for discounted commissions. Pictured below is verification of @Saspeancea being Quetzal's Telegram account as well as my initial messages to them. The very next day on June 13th, 2024 i provided my idea prompt (NSFW) for the commission and the artist quoted me a price of $100 which i agreed to pay through their Boosty. During this time the artist was very prompt in their replies to me, but this would mark the last time we ever have 2-way communication with each other. Proof of my payment to their Boosty. The Long Silence Attempts to reach out on Telegram Over a month passed by with no word, so on July 24th, 2024 i messaged them on Telegram to ask for an update. This message was read, but no response was given to me. I didn't think much of it, and time continued to pass. I attempted to reach out 3 other times on both Telegram but none of my messages were ever labeled as read. With my last somewhat willing to compromise message being sent on July 19th, 2025 Attempts to reach out on Furaffinity In conjunction with asking for updates on Telegram, i was also attempting to reach out to them on Furaffinity during this long year of silence from them. First note sent on January 26th, 2025, was read but never received a reply. My next Furaffinity note was also read but never received a response. Which was a parrot of my July 19th, 2025 Telegram message. They did post a public Furaffinity journal on July 6th, 2025 explaining their silence, though that's no excuse for outright ghosting me in particular and they were active in advertising commissions as well as posting completed pieces that were purchased after mine. Proof of advertising activity between them ghosting me and that journal. Example of other customers purchasing a commission after mine and getting it completed before mine. Note: Their usernames hidden for their own privacy, as they are not involved. YCH Bid Confirmation date: June 20th YCH Completion date: June 30th (Moderator note: We not not typically accept third party conversation, however, in this instance we are only using this as a means to provide record of date of posting to date of completion. The buyers' identifying information has been removed as the focus is only on the proof of dates.) Asking for a Refund and the Current Situation For what prompted me to even make this artist beware in the first place. After sending my messages on July 19th, 2025 to ask for an update. I checked back a few days later only to find that my Telegram message thread had been deleted by them. After thanking my lucky stars for my own foresight documenting the older messages with screenshots, i decided enough was enough and I gave them an ultimatum for a refund. The Furaffinity note I sent is still unread of as right now (July 26th, 2025). And they took it upon themself to delete the Telegram chat again and locked their Telegram account behind Telegram premium so i can no longer message them. As it stands right now, I am short 100 dollars, no art update, and the artist is actively going out of their way to ghost me. I hope Quetzal comes to their senses and learns to treat ALL of their customers with more respect. Good communication is always the best way to avoid any conflict for both parties, but it takes both. Commission at your own risk, you could see a quick turnaround, or you might spend your money, get ghosted, and have nothing to show for it.

The artist made a post on Twitter in late January 2024 saying they were taking on commission inquiries. I reached out expressing interest and the artist took up my commission spot. The original agreement was for a solo piece skirting the SFW/NSFW boundary, partial artistic freedom, making a reference to a movie line. The artist expressed high interest in the prompt and took my commission spot. Payment was made that same day for $200 (January 29th, 2024). The artist stated they would get on the piece "pronto". No correspondence was received for several months. I reached out that same year in August, September, and October, only receiving any response after October. Artist said they were busy with other commissions and would give me an update later that day. I received a loose sketch a couple days later giving a rough idea of the direction the artist wanted to work towards. The artist offered up a somewhat different idea, changed from a solo piece into a teasing SFW group piece. I expressed this acceptable as it still fit the theme and they were not asking for additional payment. No update was received since October '24. I sent another message in March '25 asking for an update. It is now the end of June '25 and I have received no response. The artist, however, made a post on Twitter within a couple weeks of my last message (April '25), and has made another post recently (June '25). All evidence points towards me having been ghosted. Some resolution through refund or completion would be preferred, but I'm not getting my hopes up. (close up pf the artist's offerings and prices for reference) Further attempts were made to contact the artist through FA Notes and email But the artist has not responded to either.

UPDATE: Following more unwillingness from 0-ruff to communicate a refund, I reached out to Boosty to handle the refund for the undelivered content. Boosty refused to issue the refund, citing their Terms of Service that states all payments and donations are final and non-refundable. Both the artist and Boosty are now forcing me to follow through with a chargeback from my bank.

help related to artistist i comissioned ghosting me
Eden replied to rathdakrogan's topic in Advice for Commissioners
Fur Affinity does not intervene between user transactions as per site policies. Deliver a clear "I would like my art by X date or a refund". If that time passes, file a chargeback via your payment processor. If you want to submit here we have a 3 to 4 month minimum wait time. -
i commissioned a piece a while back from an artist that's been giving constant excuses and kept me on red for last 40 days, the project while paid for has been a constant nightmare artist excuse after excuse and with promises of updates. Idk what my options are other than a expose, i'm not popular nor do I have any connections, it was commissioned on FA and since the initial interaction their manager has left them, they've fallen into a cycle of working on it some things for a few weeks then disappearing and lately they only work on things once enough complaints arise... They've got a FA and I would like to find a way to report the account and see about getting them taken down for future commissioners to watch out for but I don't know whether that would be something that's right to do? if anyone else has been in a similar sitation i'm really wanting advice on what to do next?

Basically same thing happened to me. Commissioned at Anthrocon a badge for my brother, haven't heard from them since August 8th. But they've posted on instagram 8 weeks ago. My badge didn't even get finished. -
I would like to remind you both that now that lines of private communication are open again, that you have the opportunity to resolve this amicably. It's much better than to publicly show anger in a forum where lots of strangers can see you in a way you may regret later. Take some time to cool off rather than reply to each other in the heat of the moment.

However, I has 2 situations when the payment doubled and both customers had succesful refunds. As I have mention ed to OP in notes, we could have tried to find other ways for a refund if needed but he decided not to reply to me but to make a post and try to mess up my reputation. Howdy. This is Eden stepping in. I've been largely absent due to irl, so this post falling through the cracks is on me as I'm the one with the most experience using sites to pay Russian artists. I commission Russian artists almost exclusively. I'm sorry this post was not handled with the usual care that we expect for Artists Beware. To the client: The sites DO have their own internal exchange rates. Ruff was not lying about this. Some of the artists I work with regularly tell me which site is more favorable to them at the moment I am paying them. Conversion rates change daily. There should have been some grace here with the fact that the artist is ESL. I've found when it comes to translating, things can end up sounding more harsh than intended. It's dependent on your bank, but you can pay in RUB sometimes. Your bank may do the conversion for you with a small fee. Paypal via Lavatop will do the conversion for you. To the artist: If you want to make sure you do not lose so much money in the exchange by having clients pay in RUB, then you NEED to advertise that on your auction. It is easy to understand why a client would be upset if they are suddenly paying more than what they bid. Even a simple note like "Payments are only accepted in RUB, which means you may end up paying more than your bid." You can send refunds on Boosty. It requires your client making an "artist" profile, and you can pay them like they would pay you. Telling clients to "charge it back" themselves is dangerous for you and them as Boosty can terminate both of your accounts. Overall: This post is staying online, but downgraded to a Caution due to the issues with not advertising the correct currency. I have removed the claims at the end of your post. Normally we would have asked for you to remove this as it's both third party reports and unfounded unless proven. Either way, these complaints seem to stem from a misunderstanding on how these platforms operate. I am approving the artist's comment so that there is no accusation that we are hiding their criticism. I am leaving this comment to take responsibility and outline what changes we made.

My husband and I commissioned ViewtifulBeck back in December of 2023 on twitter for a fully rendered piece with a background and it ran us $100, which is a lot of money for us to be spending on a commission. It was not my first time commissioning him and my prior commissions were met with reasonable communication and delivered within a reasonable time so I vouched for him when my husband was searching for an artist to draw our dnd characters together, except this one we’ve been waiting longer than a year for. It feels like we’ve been chasing him through social media (twitter, bluesky) and his email to get in contact with him. I even had my husband message him to his email. I’ll post the screenshots below of our entire conversation history regarding this commission only. Proof of payment of the Paypal invoice. First hiccup of communication met with a WIP. We both forgot about a paid comm for 5 months and then silence for 5 more months with no reply back. This is when I ask my husband to send an email to see if he might just only be active through his email at the time. No response to this as far as I know. Finally get a response back after chasing him to bluesky in which he promises it by the end of the day. We really wanted to give this artist the benefit of the doubt so we were willing to wait a few more weeks but with no communication or wips since, we figured we were just out $100 and no product to show for it. He did do my last two commissions within a reasonable amount of time and this was the only issue I’ve had with this artist but this was a really expensive commission for us. Recent contact to the artist, no response was given.

January 18th–22nd I was browsing FA and saw that Shinjoui had posted a Valentine's YCH that I liked and wanted to buy as a gift. I placed a bid, and a few days later Shin replied, telling me that they were ending the bidding early and sent me a note. I was busy IRL and didn’t respond right away, so they sent me another message saying, “Hi?” I replied as soon as I was available, paid them through Boosty, and sent them the characters. They responded, saying thank you and that the characters were cute. Note: The bidding was tiered, and because I bid under $80, the finished quality was supposed to be just a sketch in the same style the YCH was already in. I also wouldn’t be getting the NSFW alt. February 19th Valentine’s Day came and went without any word from them. I checked their FA and saw them posting that they were taking sketch commissions with a three-day turnaround. I was a bit peeved but thought that maybe they’d be finishing mine soon, since they were opening for more commissions. February 23rd They had posted a sketch from the batch from the 19th, as well as another post opening for more sketches with an even shorter deadline. So, I decided to message them. I sent a note asking for an ETA and mentioned that I thought the YCH was supposed to be done by Valentine’s Day. They responded, apologized, and said they’d finish it soon. They also offered to draw a gift to make up for the delay. I replied, thanking them for responding. Three weeks went by, and on the 27th they posted a few openings and three finished commissions before going radio silent. March 15th I sent them another message, saying it had been two weeks (I apparently can’t count), and I was checking in again. I said I didn’t mean to be pushy, but it felt like a long wait for just a sketch. I checked today (May 1st) and saw that they have deactivated their page. Also, I don’t have proof of this because I forgot to take screenshots and their page is now deactivated, but I had, at two separate points, left shouts on their page after my note from the 15th went ignored for another two weeks or so. I left one asking them to reply to my note, and another about a week later saying that I felt like I was being scammed. I’m not expecting to see them come back.
-
So back in February I had seen a Multi-slot YCH posted by Kai (here) and opted to snag a slot, as I had previously gotten work from them before. We had communicated in notes about payment methods: Proof of payment: I am normally a patient person so I had waited months, periodically checking their profile for updates. It hadn't been until I had seen public callout comments on their profile and submissions complaining about not having their commissions completed. This is when I began to worry because by this point, I was beyond the chargeback period which was a mistake on my part. It appeared that Kai had gone full MIA once the comments began to callout inconsistencies and continued posts for other YCH's. I requested a refund via shout on their profile that went ignored: I also tried privately messaging them but my note has gone unread as well, like many others: I had even tried to see if they were active in their own discord server but they're not. Other users who were also victims mentioned trying and not hearing back from Kai on various platforms. So now it just seems they took off and I'm out $60. As of currently, my note has been left unread. :')
