This isn't a bug.  The editor is pasting in your text as rich text.  If you want to avoid this you can paste it in as plain text, and it should give you the option to do so when you paste something in.  It'll be a very small pop up that shows up near the bottom of the editor.

    Got it! Thank you ?

    •  Furry Amino | Instagram | Twitter

2.) Approximate time period of when you did business with this person:

    • 7th December, 2018 - 23rd January, 2019

    3.) Details:

    • I commissioned a Phone Case from Clare and as a return customer, I am definitely just as eased as the last time I went to them for a commission!

Clare ordered a clean phone case off the internet for the exact model of my phone. Sadly, on the 19th, Clare found out that the case got lost when delivering. They acted quick and were kind enough to replace the case by ordering a new one.

Jump to the 8th of January, the case arrived and they started to draw my character for the case. Clare was extremely kind and was open to critique, happy to change stuff and they were okay with my, admittedly, pickiness. On the 16th, the artwork was finished and it looks absolutely incredible ?

Clare quickly shipped of the custom phone case on the 17th, with I believe express shipping because I received the case on the 23rd. I'm incredibly proud to have received this phone case and would always recommend Clare if you want a case of your own!

    • Kori Arredondo and Toni Mtz (two person review because they worked together).

    3. Approximate time period of when you did business with this person:

    29th of December, 2018 - 21st of January, 2019

    4. Details:

    • Kori advertised a bundle commission on Twitter, consisting of one illustration and one 3D model, where they and their partner, Toni, worked together to create the two types of commissions for the bundle. I contacted Kori on the 29th of December, payment and discussion went very smoothly and I was given and EST of around 3 weeks.

I was given the illustration on the 12th of January and loved it a lot. It definetly came out exactly the way I wished for! Kori paid very close attention to the details of my character!

I was given multiple WIPs of the 3D model to make sure everything was good and Toni was happy to make fixes. Toni was nice enough to also give me a turn around of the model and gave me both, an mp4 and a gif file!

All in all, I'm very very pleased with the both of them and both works were absolutely incredible! They are fast, communicative and very friendly and easy to work with blue_heart

    Howdy!  Bewares > Positive Reviews

Currently we aren't accepting them until we lay down some ground rules to prevent issues with people spamming positive reviews in response to a beware.

Hang tight.  We'll be making a forum.

Thank you a lot for your help ^^

  6. Seems weird to me. As far as I understood (correct me if I'm wrong), you bid $300 on an auction and you win. But the artist charges $600 for the illustration so you'll pay $900 instead. My question being...what is the $300 paid for? A place on the queue? Shouldn't a place on the queue be given anyway, for free, if you commission someone? If I'm right, about this, I wouldn't commission nor sell something like this. Sounds rather obscure to me.

  7. Absolutely would not commission someone with such a rule. First, what is considered a "legit reason"? Thats super subjective.

    Example:

Customer: Hey you haven't completed the commission in x months, I'd like a refund

Artist: That's not a good reason, sorry, I don't give refunds for this reason. Please wait until the art is finished.

Basically, they can deny a refund for everything that they don't deem to be "important enough"

For the second question, I'd say no again. I don't owe anyone private details about why or what.

That's just my take on it~

  8. I would contact them again and tell them that you manipulate/edit the work and ask them if it counts for that first agreement that you two made as well. Maybe they accept and want you to state their name and what edits you made when someone asks for the creator of the picture. Otherwise, I'd offer a price for the rights and let them accept, decline or haggle over the price, atleast, that's how I'd handle the situation ^^;

You could've worded some things a little better, but overall yes, you did the right thing.
And when I say "worded things better" I don't mean that you were rude, just that it left a bit of wiggle room. It's too late now, but in the future, you should put all of the following in your ultimatums:
    - the [exact] date you sent this ultimatum
    - the date you commissioned them, and what you commissioned them for
    - the price you paid
    - the time they said the commission would be done by (if applicable)
    - an exact date at least 7 days in the future
    - the actual ultimatum (do X or I do Y).

Quick example (made up with inspiration from your screencaps):

    Hi Artist,
I commissioned you on 5 October 2018 for a colored headshot for 5 USD. You said the expected turnaround for completion was about a month. As of [today's date], I have only received a WIP sketch. At this point, if I don't receive the completed colored headshot by [exact date 2 weeks in the future], I will be opening a paypal claim for a refund. Alternatively, I'm willing to accept a refund now if you no longer wish to complete the commission.
    Thank you,
    Commissioner

Here's what a message like this (ideally sent over email) does:
    - Lets the artist know you're incredibly serious about this situation
    - Gives the artist everything they need to know about your commission in one message (helps if the artist is unorganized)
    - That same information is all in one message for your paypal claim - less evidence to gather if you end up sending this in to paypal (or court, if your situation calls for it). Makes everyone's jobs easier.
    - Gives a rigid deadline for the call to action. Precise dates are harder to wiggle their way out of to get more time from you. Also, again, very helpful for your paypal case should it come to that.
    - Said rigid deadline is ALSO for you! If you don't hear anything by the deadline, the next day you better be filing that paypal claim. If you don't back up your threats, what use was the ultimatum to begin with?

Overall, it sounds like you're on the right track. The onus is now on the artist. You can choose to give them more time if you feel whatever excuse they give is believable/worthy, but you are not an interest-free loan for artists, you're a customer of a business and a business that doesn't deliver its goods should not remain in business.

Yes it's only 5 bucks, but it's really up to you how you want to handle this. You hold all the cards until the claim window for paypal expires.

Thank you! I try my best to be nice and I don't really like asking or "threatening" people, so I know I did a little bit too soft. First time I had to do this too. I greatly appreciate your feedback and will use it whenever something similiar happens again. Thank you a lot for your time!

  10. Hello AB community!

Around 3-4 months ago, I commissioned a Flat colored Headshot/Bust from a user on Furry Amino. I don't remember the actual price but I paid them 5 USD (low, I know). Everything went well first, we exchanged information and payment info, yadda yadda, the typical procedure. I have only recieved a sketch in that time and mostly had to ask for updates myself.

They admitted they had a lot of icons (flat colored headshots) to do for others, which made me nervous, I assume they bit more than they can chew. Yesterday I gave them an ultimatum that they should finish my commission in 2 weeks or give me a refund, they have not replied yet.

I have compiled a screenshot of our chat here, name and the avatar is blacked out, because this is only an advice post, not a beware or caution. I think if they don't do anything until the 2 weeks have passed, I'll file a Paypal chargeback.

I'd like to know: How can this be fixed? Did I do the right thing? What should I do if they don't reply to the ultimatum? I'm scared that I went too aggressive on them, but I feel like a lined, flat colored headshot wouldn't take that long.

    Thank you!
