I've seen too many times where when people were called out for callous or incriminating behaviour they ended up deleting everything. God bless internet archival websites.

Waybackmachine is a good one if I remember correctly. If you have the link to it, it has the various versions of it even if it was deleted. Screenshots are good for a permanent reference too.

  2. To Saltminer: If you paid through paypal, you'll have to file a dispute (that is if it is within the 180 days/approximate 6 months) and escalate it to a claim before the duration for the dispute expires (7-10 days? I always forget there...) If you start a dispute, escalate it to a claim or it will auto-close. If you close a dispute (or let it expire), you can't dispute it again.

  3. I've used Kofi and it did list them as "gifts" for those transactions, which made disputes/claims harder to achieve, but it doesn't make it impossible.

To OP: You can give it a shot since you're still within that window, but better make sure to have all your evidence handy if you intend to pursue this.

  4. As of this time and if https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9738898/ is to be believed, Nika has 45 commissions (including collabs) that are awaiting completion.

Of those 45, 28 are not even started if I'm reading that journal right (21 being listed as (%0) and 7 having no progress % listed).

Of those that have a progress amount: 11 are below %50

So in total, 39 out of 45 (or approximately 87%) of Nika's total commissions are not yet out of the lineart phase.

If you all want me to break it down further from what I can see, most of these are YCH's that aren't even out of the 'presketching' phase.

Yes but unfortunately the costs a civil case like this would be far more than the cost of the commission itself.

Tacking on the cost of court/legal fees may not be of much benefit, though do some locations even go so far in the law to add an 'interest per day' in terms of unpaid contracts?

  6. An odd thought to bring up, but since Celestina brought up that talking about negative experiences is protected by law made me think of this possibility: Could a small-claims case be brought up against Bad Coyote / CritterCanvas for the reason of 'accepting payment and not fulfilling contract' (not providing goods promised) due to the amount that was paid?

From what I see, you have: proof of payment, approximate timeline/deadline, and the lack-of-product/lack-of-attempt seems to be a lot of evidence against the said artist.

It may be a bit difficult if the artist and client are within local-distance of each other, but I do wonder if it is a possibility.

  7. @Thecharacterconsultancy I had to do a bit of backreading since the last time I posted on here,  but MorgueBuddy might be right about something. The pattern of leaving people high-and-dry by making them work on the art without paying up-front means to me that they might consider doing a chargeback/claim/dispute filing before the time-period is up (February-March if my estimation of the window is right?) if they don't switch accounts. I would say hold onto any information you have pertaining to the transaction in anticipation that they may do so to you.

  8. Just got a 404 Error from the link, VinFang.

And MorgueBuddy, it looks like the new account might be trying to use their itch.io site more? Their Facebook page is non-existent (even with attempting to just copy-paste it instead of clicking on the link from the profile), their DA is deactivated, I don't get anything from trying to search up their Dealers Den they have listed, but their TransFur they have linked has barely any information (albeit it does provide their email publicly if you are trying to re-establish contact?).

  9. Have you already sent payment for this? If so, it might be worthwhile to note the date found in the summary of the transaction that says something to the effect of "Need help? If there is a problem, contact the seller through Paypal by (date). You may be eligible for purchase protection." That date is when your window of filing a dispute ends.

I mean the fact his behavior was bad enough that Pebbles refunded him after the first commission (there's two commissions mentioned in this post), that itself is a huge indicator of potential future problems and he should have been blacklisted right there.

I know we all like to be super forgiving of people's behaviors, especially when money is involved because a lot of us are starving artists, but we should still be mindful of red flag behavior and protect ourselves.

Ah, I thought you were mentioning about the timeline before December 6th to December 13th for the refusal from the start. I do agree that after that point would've been a blacklist/refusal-to-work scenario.

I would have refused business from the start and blacklisted him after the issues around the first commission. There's a ton of red flags for his behavior and it's completely unacceptable how he acted.

While I'd agree with you pertaining to blacklisting after the issues of the first commission, it wouldn't be known about things from the start unless there's been a reputation going around. It wasn't until after the invoice was paid that his behavior started to show from the way it looks.

  12. I don't like how this is, but I think they're trying to pull one of two things: Not responding to get Bruma to forget about the possibility of the dispute/claim (waiting out the time) or to attempt to finish it if a dispute/claim arises to say "I did get it done! Here it is!" after Bruma mentioned that they are no longer wanting the commission due to lack-of-contact. If the second option and they show the proof via Paypal's Dispute/Claims communication and Bruma finds something wrong with the picture, BlindCoyoteArt may get Paypal to side with them.

  13. I probably should've asked this before, but the mention of the fraudulent tracking number... did he say what it was through? UPS, USPS, FedEx, or something else? And if you have that, did he list the from-address as well (which can be used to search for it if the tracking-number is off/missing)?

If you have a complete without-a-doubt bad tracking-number and proof of it being such, that would definitely be useful to include to your proof to Paypal (along with links they can view as well).

  14. From the way it seems, you've been more than patient enough for this person and give then an opportunity to finish along on top of that they snap back at you like that? It might be advisable to get the refund/dispute if you don't get the finished work by the 26th since their behavior indicates that this person does not want to do business with you.
