Just do what everyone else does and build it into your pricing scheme. Paypal also bans people from paying for NSFW stuff but that's stops exactly 0 people lol.

Theyre tax write offs, so you never really 'lose' that money anyways. I have all my fees and time accounted for in my pricing, but its a warning to the OP, because paypal has shut down more accounts for charging customers fees than they have for NSFW.

I emphatically disagree here. Considering they paid in April and heard absolutely nothing until they themselves until they themselves contacted the artist in June, and on top of the potential proposed deadline (despite the fact that the artist TOS claims they don't follow deadlines) The desire to ensure work is done both before the deadline, if at all, it makes sense to want to check in to ensure the deadline was met, which as we can all see, it very much did not.

All things considered, and with how much the OP was yanked around, the OP hasn't really IM'd the artist all that much. I've seen harassment-level commission inquiries, this isn't it.

I meant the friendly chatter, not the checking up on the progress. Business =/= friendship.

  3. I do agree that you messaged them way too much; unless you two were friend, I dont see the need to do friendly chatter within a business transaction. As an artist this would bother me a lot.

Did they have their TOS in a public place? For a suit, something that will almost always have down payments and non refundable parts, Im surprised they didnt show it to you personally. And the fact that they didnt keep receipts seems odd too. They missed way too many deadlines, and they should have owned up to that. Also 'heads are quick' versus 'over a year wait'.....

I only wish I had seen this post well before I placed my commission in with them.

I would have loved to do that but sadly it was with paypal; which is connected directly to my bank account and not a credit card... guess I should also switch that around for future commissions I make.
I take it that there is no way to ever see this list unless they've given direct access to it huh?

She never posted or even kept any type of queue. She originally told me multiple times I'd be next, and then later said there was 10 people ahead of me.

As someone who has also commissioned her I can say I feel sorry about how things have turned out. However I thought I could explain some backstory information to why she blocked you. She has in fact been dealing with things far out of her control as of late, and my commission is only half done. As someone who has had family members going through what she is right now, I can confirm she isn't trying to be rude to you just lashing out.

She does not want to deal with being yelled at right now, especially since at the time of posting that aforementioned surgery is tomorrow. She is still on FA however she will no longer be posting her art on FA. This she clarified to me when I had asked.

Its unfortunate that you wont see the commission done, but she is in fact going through something life threatening. I am confident she will give you back your money in the end once she has it. And I do feel sorry you have to go through this on her behalf.

An artist should never block a client they owe money/art to. Part of our jobs is keeping in touch and replying to clients. I do not see anywhere where the OP 'yelled' at her either. They have essentially left OP with no way to contact them, and have to just hope they get a refund randomly.
