  1. Oh my word.  What a mess.  😞  I hope you're never in a similar situation again, but this is why you never close a claim.

They should have refunded the original transaction as it simply cancels the transaction, and no one incurs fees.  In addition, them sending you the refund via a regular goods and services payment, it leaves you exposed to having your transaction claimed.

I hope you get your refund soon.

i'm curious as to why you refused to give them your paypal?

Probably because PayPal would make their legal name visible to the artist. I also peeked into the tumblr blogs and there appear to be accusations of threats? I guess OP is worried about being doxed. Not sure if Ko-fi hides the names of account holders when they make their initial payment.

With that said a lot of folks don't know that they can upgrade to a business account to hide their personal info.

I'm afraid I strongly disagree. I think its more unprofessional to hire somebody to do some work for you and then fire them and demand return of payment based on your whims.
I think thats a pretty awful thing to do, if I'm honest

Noted, however it's moot given the artist was offering refunds.

Maybe I'm unfamiliar with the law in the places where these people are located, but as far as I know they are not entitled to a refund?
I mean, seems the artist has every intention of still delivering the commission, you can't really ask for a refund because you suddenly decide you don't like the person.
Especially with the post about how these are emergency commissions and they have bills due. Chances are they don't even have the money anymore. I know I've had times in my life where losing $10 would have destroyed me, let alone losing it based on the sudden turnaround of another person.
I don't really think the artist has done anything wrong here, if I'm honest

Legalities and moralities are two different things.  Technically non refund clauses aren't illegal.

If a client asks for a refund you cease all work and refund for work not done.  That's good business, and no payment processor will deny a client a refund if OP chooses to go the route of a chargeback.  It doesn't matter if the artist "intends to finish" because the client has made it known they do not wish for this transaction to continue.  If the client had asked for a refund and the artist finished it anyway, then we would have put that through.  That's incredibly unprofessional.

An artist shouldn't spend money they haven't earned.  Realistically that isn't always possible, but they aren't denying a refund based on not having the money.  They're denying the refund on something entirely not their business.

Edit: Edited to add "work not done" because I realize our user base is bigger than the old Livejournal base where good business practices were often discussed in the past.

  5. Goodness gracious.  Regardless of one's feelings on certain kinks (goodness knows there are plenty out there that squick me), it's not ok to keep someone's money once they request a refund.

I'm not very familiar with Ko-fi, but if you used your cc if push comes to shove can you request a chargeback?

  6. Also please note that since this is a chargeback, not a claim, you will be hit with the $20 fee once it goes through.  Unfortunately, when there are two users of the account your chances of winning are zero, as it's likely been listed as fraud by the guardian.  Regardless of what payment processor you used, the banks will always resolve unauthorized use in favor of the account holder.

But definitely gather everything, and call paypal.  Do not use their automated system.  At the very least they can resolve the $20 fee, but there have been instances of them eating the chargeback entirely.

  7. Hiya!  This is from @snowhawkwhom is away from her PC at the moment:

The zipper sticking is a common thing with new zippers. Some bar soap on the teeth can help

Detachable tails are very common, and if the home placement isn't right, it'll cause a bulge. (LB should have REQUIRED a dtd)

Care instructions are keep it out of the dryer, but hand wash.

  8. Comments have been reopened for the time being because Camaro has some concerns.  If any of our members experienced in suits can help clarify on these items, that would be appreciated.

Comments that are here to only further the behavior from Twitter won't be approved.

  9. I want to note that this kind of information is against the submission guidelines as we aren't here to speculate on people's financial situations.

However, given this is an issue with chargebacks there will be an exemption. The money chargebacked went somewhere.

Edit: and this furthers my theory she was using a CC she shouldn't have had access to if she has to repay the money slowly.

  10. Given numerous individuals are following the post, and mod messages don't ping you:

The suit has been repaired.  Fixed images have been attached.  It is now en route to the client.  The tag has been updated to "pending resolved" as we would prefer posters have the item in hand before we mark a post as fully resolved.

The comments will remain closed.  Everything that needs to be said has been said, and we thank both parties for resolving this issue.

I'm sorry to burst your conspiracy theory bubble, but I'm not a member of Lemonbrat staff. I'm not even American. I'm just a dude who read though the info. (I see what Lemonbrat meant by you trying to "read between the lines).
I can tell you right now, you are a nightmare customer. I've seen the emails, and you don't exactly come out smelling like roses in them.
The reason you are being "Bullied" (if you want to call it that) is because you have been unreasonable since the story broke. Within 20 hours you had a gofundme going and have been milking the situation for attention ever since. In their final email to you, Lemonbrat was more than reasonable and laid out all the issues they had with you (while providing evidence in their full reply). You rebutted it but without supplying evidence. Right now your side of the story is looking flimsier and flimsier, especially since they have offered to edit the suit. The emails where you offer to send the DTD but they refused have yet to surface.
The only REALLY valid complaint is that the tail on the suit looks bad. Everything else is just heavily opinionated hearsay.

    That's about enough.

It's fine to critique the OP, but at this point given how users have been behaving offsite and then coming here to continue the behavior we'll be locking the thread until Camaro and Lemonbrat can speak further on the matter.  Absolutely nothing justifies harassment.  Ever.

It's really interesting that all the Lemonbrat staff are badmouthing me on twitter and signing up for new accounts on here to try and twist and defame me, and make me seem like I'm in the wrong.

    Heya!

We have the ability to monitor a whole bunch of things behind the scenes.  I know certain users here have been downright nasty via Twitter, but they are not Lemonbrat that we've seen on our site.
