SauceNao requires direct upload of the image in order to search for it. Tineye and Google Images may let you link a URL but the URL has to exist somewhere in the first place, and can't be private, for you to even link it, otherwise, you have to upload an image for it to search. (and even if that VK url worked, the OP would still need that URL in order to use it. )

Everyone so far has seemed to miss that the OP asks for the URL to the M/M version as the very last thing, and the Artist ignored literally everything else stated only saying 'I made a choice'. Even accounting for English as a Second Language, there's not even any sort of attempt to clarify or reconcile on the artist's part, and it's clear enough that the artist understands English well enough to say that. None of the mods here feel the OP is wrong in this regard, to be upset about an m/m piece being made when it wasn't even asked about in the design process and the advertisement itself doesn't state that there will be two versions no matter what.

It wasn't advertised and the artist did nothing to reconcile when it was brought up, that's worthy of exercising caution for any like commissions with this artist, that you may need to clarify anything you don't want, before the work starts. Otherwise you could get something you don't and the artist will do nothing about it.

I think their point was that the M/F version is so close to the M/M version that a bot wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two. So you could use the M/F version to search for M/M uploads too.

As for the rest of it... I mean, what is the artist supposed to say? Maybe they understand enough english to get that OP is upset but they don't have the ability to correctly word a defense. I personally found OP's replies extremely confusing at first (the whole rule 63/34/whatever made it much worse) and then afterward when they clarified, there's really nothing else to say. OP says don't use the image and I'm not happy. The artist pretty much can either go into an argument defending their actions or just say "okay" at that point.

So I've gotten a suit from Lemonbrat and they have been nothing but kind and courteous and prompt with their responses. [....]

Your positive experience does not negate Camaro's negative experience. If Lemonbrat thoguht the time line provided at the time of commission was too rushed, or that they would be unable to provide a quality product to camaro for any reason, then the onus is on lemonbrat to cancel the commission.

Lemonbrat clearly did not think that at any time and proceeded with the fursuit, delivering something that, regardless of the customer service issues, is extremely below the quality normally output from lemonbrat.

This caution/beware is well deserved, and I hope lemonbrat steps up and makes this right by camaro.

  3. That finalized suit is absolutely unacceptable. First timers can do better than that. W O W.

This is ignoring everything else about the interaction. I would want a refund. Ridiculous. I am so angry for you.

Also, I just wanted to speak out that unasked for "enhancements" as compensation without prior warning are also unappreciated. I got some gunk on the inside of a fursuit head of mine, sent it back to the maker in hopes they could clean it out / fix it, and instead they thought they'd be nice and completely redo the head.... the outside of the head... The looks and expression all changed. So much wasted effort. I didn't like it after that and I sold it afterwards. So I feel you on how these nice efforts just make things worse.

Here's the invoices for my outstanding items:

Why not write your own beware? Multiple bewares have more weight.

  5. I am just.
    appalled.

I mean. I have so many things I could say.

But I guess I just want this down for the record:
Just because it's common place, doesn't make it right.

And that's in reference to the ridiculously long wait times/queues for fursuits and fursuit makers being unable to manage money correctly. It's commonplace. But is is not right.
Of course she brought up other excuses, but that one in particular I wanted to comment on.

Thank you for writing this beware.

  6. I could be interpreting this wrong, but it seems to me that the main crux of the issue was the last time they spoke (in 2016?) when the artist (kircai) told guba not to talk to them.

What sounds like what happened is that guba wanted to be friends, and when Kircai denied that, guba took it as the inability to talk to the artist entirely. This sounds like confusion on the difference between a personal and a professional relationship.

This seems to be a big problem in the fandom (or at least private art commissions in general). Artists want to seem nice and friendly for customer service, which confuses customers into thinking they're friends with the artist, so on and so forth until the difference between business transaction and personal communication becomes null.

Of course I could be wrong on this since we don't have the original messages (nor am I asking for them). Just seems like an observation; Guba didn't feel comfortable asking Kircai for updates because Kircai lashed out last time (when Kircai felt their personal boundaries were crossed).

Something both sides need to work on communicating effectively. The difference between personal and professional relationships is also something that the fandom as a whole needs to be more educated about in general, unfortunately.

If guba had asked for updates on the commission using the correct channels, it's likely this whole transaction would've gone much differently.
It's unfortunate that this misunderstanding occurred.
