      Resolved

Hey guys. This is my first time writing a beware, so I hope I did everything correctly.

I contacted phvtes (now gobuwin) on DeviantArt on 9/16/19 with my information to get a pixel tag slot from the emergency commissions they were having. They replied 2 days later to accept the commission and said they would have a WIP done the same day or next at the latest. I let them know after I sent the payment.

Things started to take a turn for the worse at this time. After not hearing from them with the WIP, I messaged on 10/8/19. I didn't receive a response. I messaged again on 10/16/19. I didn't receive a response until 10/20/19 when they sent a group apology to all of the people that had commissioned them that were also waiting for a response. I replied, a bit frustrated at the lack of communication after their tablet broke, but we agreed on continuing the transaction under the condition that it would not happen again. They cited mental health problems and offered a free painted headshot for the trouble, which I also never received.

I received the first WIP on 11/1/19 and replied with a request for a small edit on her ears. I received another WIP on 11/7/19 that was further along. Everything looked great. Unfortunately, this is the last WIP I ever received.

From here on out, none of the notes I sent were read or replied to. I asked for the status of my commission again on 11/24/19 and finally on 12/2/19.

Unfortunately, as I made the mistake of sending as "friends and family" on Paypal, I was unable to file a chargeback. Instead, I was forced to go through my credit card company to receive a refund.

I received a note on 10/28/20 from one of the artist’s friends relaying their correspondence that can been read along with my reply below.

I took numerous issues with their excuses, especially the attempt to shift the blame onto me for not hunting them down on their new Twitter account to inquire about my year old commission. However, should I play devil’s advocate:

    1. I commissioned them via DeviantArt, not Twitter. If I was going to look for a new account, I would assume it was on DeviantArt where I initially contacted them.

    2. Their new Twitter account was never advertised on the old DeviantArt one.

    3. I and at least one other person that were never informed of the account change were listed on their public journal queue on the old account. This information, including our online handles, would not require their old login to access. Therefore, THEY could have contacted US at any time.

    4. Their new Twitter account was created in September of 2020. (https://i.imgur.com/2gXEGsd.png) If I was supposed to contact them there, it would have only been possible starting last month... a full year after I paid them for my commission and ten months after I last heard from them.

Withstanding that, it should never be the client’s responsibility to chase after what they paid for.

Included in their message was my completed commission. This now resolved.
