About Me

  1. Summary: In December of 2017, I paid the artist $110 to create a single character, colored animation loop. A rough work-in-progress was shown in January of 2019, but the artist has ignored contact since then and still has not delivered a finished product. Timeline: 12/01/2017: Xhybora contacted me via note on Furaffinity, asking if I would be interested in commissioning an animation from them. [1] 12/03/2017: We moved our conversation to Discord, where we discussed the particulars of what would be made and how much it would cost. The final agreement was that it would be a single character, colored, looping animation for the price of $110. [2] [3] [4] Later that day they sent me a PayPal invoice, which I paid, and was confirmed to have been so by them. (I have the transaction info if needed, I just didn’t include a screenshot because it was under the artist’s real life full name) [5] 04/16/2018: The artist messaged me through Discord that they would be providing a progress update soon. [6] 06/21/2018: Concerned that it had been 6 months without any proper update, I contacted the artist asking for a progress update. The artist responded assuring me I would get an update the next day. [7] 06/23/2018: Two days later, I messaged them asking about the update they had promised. I received no response. [8] 07/27/2018: A month later, I asked more forcefully, this time specifically asking for a WIP. [9] 08/02/2018: The artist said they would be going on a trip, but would provide a WIP as soon as they get back, claiming to have already started animating the commission. [9] 09/03/2018: After another month of radio silence, I asked again about the WIP they had promised. [9] 01/07/2019: After seeing a Twitter thread of several other people claiming to have commissioned Xhybora and never gotten a finished product, I delivered an ultimatum to the artist on Discord: Either provide me with a WIP or refund what I had paid. The artist responded that same day asking to talk. [10] They sent two rough WIPs [11], and I apologized for doubting them. The artist then admitted that the Twitter thread was true and that there were others who had been left hanging like I had, but the artist assured me that they were working to make things right with all of us. [12] 03/27/2019: The artist contacted me via Discord saying that the animation would be finished in 2 weeks, but inquired if I would like more added to it. I told them I didn’t have the money to do so and they said ok. [13] [14] This would be the last I ever heard from the artist. I have tried messaging them on discord but have gotten no replies. I noted them on FurAffinity but have gotten no reply. I left shouts on their FurAffinity page, that have been removed by the artist, after which they blocked me on the site. [15]
  2. At the beginning of 2018 I took Codeine up on a deal. She was to do me a couple's sketch page with flat colour for a grand total of $200. As of now, it is still ongoing and I have two basic sketches (not-coloured) which was shown to me at the end of April 2018. (I'll come back to this later.) Proof of Purchases From the initial purchasing of the commission to the first sketch update, I always had difficulty communicating with her, whether it was due to no replies on Discord or her emails. This is a long running trend that is still happening today. She has said multiple times that she has personal issues going on, some to do with mental health and some to do with money. I have tried my best to be cordial and to respect the time she may take as I can understand is can be difficult. But even after a year there really has been no progress on my end all the while she still accepts more and more commissions without ever really seeing them be uploaded. (Of course, these people may have very well gotten their work done, but Codeine told me something herself which makes me doubt that.) Large and Unmoving Backlog She told me once that she had a backlog of near 100 people but only works on those that continue to pester her (like myself). Obviously at the time of hearing it, I thought it was a little peculiar and borderline scam-like but I tried to stay positive and said at least it lets her focus down on 'urgent' ones and such. I'm fully aware I could considered mean or inconsiderate to go back on my word of not outing her, but at this stage I feel like I want to get the word out. With all the hubbub of Jailbird working up a backlog and constantly taking more made me think of it, and if I can stop people from falling into this pit like me, then good. From the horse's mouth the artist has a fairly dodgy work ethic / professionalism since it seems a lot of people's money has sunk into the void. Potential Attempts at using my wallet more I would take this one with a grain of salt, but it also showcases the long periods of time I would often have to wait for any kind of communication. She once drew to my attention an adopt for a character going and she started out by saying how much they liked drawing my character, and if I were to buy this adopt for her, I'd get a steady flow of art with them together. To her credit she said it was quite a selfish ask and didn't seem bothered by me declining. However it was followed by a particularly long period of time without any word from her after having finally just been in regular contact with her. Her initial proposition on Jan 17th. A period of time without contact from the 17th of Jan to the 20th of Feb. (Now, I personally feel this was because she failed to get the character out of me BUT I am happy to be proven wrong and to state that as more my opinion than anything else.) This further shows poor communication on her end, creating a frustrating time on my end. Combinations As time went on, I foolishly continued buying smaller things from her which also were never completed HOWEVER she did offer to combine them into the price of the sketch page. With everything said and done, she dropped a few patreon rewards and sketch slots I purchased completely in order to put more detail into the page. This included a piece of work that she left as flat colours instead of finishing, saying that would go into the page as well. We ended up basically having her owe me the same full sketch page but fully coloured, fully shaded instead of just flats like we originally settled upon. (Which I was happy to accept, of course.) Recent Endeavours and Attempting Refunds Lately I've been asking her for refunds on the page. Since its been so long since I've had an update, and trying to get into contact with her was a trial within itself, I started talking more about simply putting it to rest and getting me my money back. There are many things I'm still due from her but have stated I'm perfectly happy to just focus on the very original $200 and forget about the extras added on and the little sketches I bought on the side. Just the other day she responded and tried to say that the amount of work she's already done is worth $260. Even though she had this to say about the original. This was the picture in question that I asked for price on. This image, flat coloured would be worth $200 in her own words, that we settled upon and I paid. Compare that with what she had managed to do for me in one evening that she is saying is worth $260. We since moved to Twitter to speak, since I generally found better success getting her there, and I could see whether she read my messages or not. She said it was worth $260 because she has apparently done more work on it since (That I have not seen so I haven't been able to even approve it.) though I can't help but imagine she will quickly draw something up or colour a part of it to show me when she next gets back into contact with me. (Which to be honest, if she does then fine. I won't want money back for work that has been done, that's the whole point.) But as it stands, that's all I have to show for my money. Conclusion and where I am now 4 days ago Codeine explained to me she was away from home for personal reasons and assured me she'd be away for 3 days max and would be home to talk with me further about all of this. Obviously, she has not but has read a post I sent to her earlier today. (Still past the 3 day limit she set.) I have essentially been left on read at this point in time. The blue tick means someone has seen your post. Grey is the opposite. These were from today. 8 hours ago and 52 minutes ago respectively. I ultimately didn't want to make this as I hoped we could come to an agreement and I could let it all go. But after constant delays to periods of time she comes up with herself, I promised to myself I would write this up and be done with it if she failed to meet the next deadline. (Yesterday.) Even if my own issue never gets resolved I hope this might at least make a few more people aware that it might be best to steer clear from this one until her backlog seems to be more under control.
  3. Original agreement: Tropical YCH, 2 versions; one SFW and one NSFW version. AB an auction at $200; Paid $212 total for a 6% fee to cover PayPal fees as dictated by the artist. YCH was paid for on July 19, 2020. Please see screencap for PayPal payment, along with confirmation in chat. My experience with NikaInfinity began July 17, 2020, when I purchased a YCH from her on FurAffinity. Everything seemed to proceed smoothly at first, with great communication and helping to pick out references. I asked for an invoice as one had not been tendered until the 19th, at which point I had immediately paid the invoice. Sketch was tendered on the 20th, and everything was well. No communication for a few weeks, which was shocking considering the good upfront communication. I tried to check in on Aug 4th and again on the 8th; I got confirmation that she was okay on the 9th but no update to the commission. Contact was again attempted on Aug 30th, with no reply until Sept 14th apologizing for the delay and promising updates for Sept 18th. I was polite, and waited until Oct 3 to ask her about it, giving her two weeks of grace for the promised date of the 18th. I did not get a reply until Oct 12th, promising lines "this week". I asked her to keep communication, as that was the biggest issue I was having with the process. Not waiting as long, I asked again an update on Oct 17th - I got an update with lines on Oct 18th! I was really happy at this point because despite the complete and utter lack of communication, it at least appeared I would get my commission. Because of this, I eased up a bit on questioning and let things go until Dec 2nd. As you may have guessed, I did not get any updates, so I asked if she was well on Dec 2nd. No reply. Jan 9th rolls around, and a journal was posted on FA saying that she had lost all of everyone's commission info - I was not initially on the list, so I asked her about it. There was no reply or confirmation, although I did see that it was added to the list *STILL* at the 30% it was at months ago. Jan 12th, and I got a message saying she was working on the lines, and I assured her I would be patient. This is around when Spectacle197 posted their beware about Nika / requested the refund, and Nika posted the journal that they referenced about her becoming "homeless", which was a big red flag for me and an understanding that it was not likely that I was going to get my commission finished. I asked her on the 13th for a timeframe, and I was assured I would be "next". "Next" may or may not be fair, as I do not know the order for the other 40+ people on her commission list. She said that she was working on my piece, but the link she posted for the WIP updates (Jan10th, bottom right) was exactly the same as the one she posted months ago (Oct 20th, middle). It was at this point where I stressed that waiting 6 months was taking its toll, and I don't think the lack of communication was fair - especially as her TOS states that she will communicate. I have everything to lose from posting this beware, if the artist decide's not to finish the commission as retaliation; I am too far out to request a PayPal refund, and quite frankly, I was too nice through this whole process because I didn't want to butt heads and did not want to lose my commission. I, unfortunately, have little hope of seeing it finished at this point - which is a shame, because the artist is obviously very talented, and I am still just as excited to receive my piece today as I was 6 months ago. The artist vanishes for months at a time from all platforms, makes promises to work and takes new commissions, and then vanishes again for months at a time. Judging by the insane amount of clients she currently has, I would not suggest this artist as a client, and I am now out $212. Lesson learned - still hoping like a fool to see the finished piece.
  4. So I’m not too sure if this goes under a Beware or a Caution but here this goes. In the middle of July 2020, I won an auction for a ych piece and had waited for Nika to contact me. Since i did not receive any messages or comment saying I won, I went and sent them a message which they did not reply to for approximately another month. It was definitely a red flag. We add each other on discord and begin to discuss the commission there, references, payment, etc. So I sent the payment on September 17, 2020 and within the span of about 4 months, I only hear from them once more time in October, then silence after that. In January 2021, I told them that I will be refunding the payment from PayPal if I don’t hear from them and so I did exactly that. A week or so later I started a resolution/dispute on PayPal. Within the same hour of having started the dispute, she texts me saying she is working on the commissions she has in line and if I can wait. I tell her my limit to wait has been reached and I wanted my payment refunded. She starts to guilt trip me by saying she will be homeless if I refund the payment. She also stated that it was against her terms of service to refund the payment when progress has started. So I go back to look at the terms stated in the post (which has since been deleted) and it says “NO REFUND after I started to work on ych.” I look for my name in the list of the commissions in progress she has. She has 44 commissions in progress at the time of writing this, another red flag. I finally find my name buried in there and it says 0% pre sketching, meaning that she hasn’t begun. I clearly have not broken the TOS but she insists that I have and now she will not send me the refund. I want to make this to warn anyone who wants a commission from her because she may try and bait you out until the point where you cannot refund on PayPal.
  5. -Original Agreement: "YCH with car" for $15 back in January 2018. My Character with a specified car. I can't remember exactly when I bought the YCH on FurAffinity, but the first Message from them arived on January 4th, 2018, payment was on January 5th, 2018. This was my very first attempt at a commission/YCH so I waited patiently. On August 12th, 2018 I reached out to see if we were going anywhere. They said they are a bit out of the loop, but would be posting soon. Nothing ever heard from them again. So now, 3 years in, i'm finally calling it done for good. $15 ist not the world, but still a very bad first experience.
  6. June 8th, 2020: Jors Tweeted that he was offering bust sketches, and that the proceeds would go to Reclaim the Block. The same day, I reached out to Jors to have one of my characters drawn. Jors was asking for $40, but I sent him an extra $15 for a total of $55 through Paypal. Jors told me that he expected to complete commissions within a week. He stated that, once he had completed all the commissions, he would post the donation receipt. June 9th: Jors posted a completed bust commission for another user. June 10th-August 19th: Jors is inactive on Twitter. August 20th: Jors posted two more busts on his timeline. He did not specify that these were donation commission sketches, but they appeared to be the same style. I assumed that it meant that he would soon finish the other busts, including my own. August 21st-September 20th: Jors was actively posting on Twitter. I did not receive any messages concerning commission progress. After September 20th, Jors has not posted on Twitter. September 27th: I contacted him through Twitter again to see if he was making any progress on the donation commissions. I did not receive a response. October 17th: I message Jors again, letting him know that the end of the chargeback period is December 5th. I told him I hoped to resolve the situation within the next month. November 2nd: Jors did not acknowledge my last message despite having over two weeks to do so. Initially, I intended to wait until December 5th before opening a dispute. However, his lack of response suggests to me that it is unlikely that he will finish the commission even if I gave him the rest of the extra time. I sent him a message that I would proceed with contacting Paypal. A dispute has been open. As it is not yet a claim, Jors still has time to reach out to me and, hopefully, resolve the problem without Paypal's intervention. I am not really sure if something happened to Jors that was out of his control and made him unable to complete my commission. However, nothing was ever communicated with me so I can only speculate. Also, he never posted proof that he donated the commission money that he received.

  8. My personal journey with BadCoyote begins circa mid 2017, when I discovered his art on FA, and fell in love with his more realistic rendering of muscle. He had one pic in particular, of a bald eagle (Shown later below), that I just adored, and when he was open for commissions circa mid-2019, I created a PayPal account and made my first purchase: Specifically, I paid $250 USD for a character reference sheet, which included "Front, back and side view of the character, color swatch, and choice of font" and "A collaborative design session" (Included here is his newer commission form, circa July 2020, and his older one from early 2020, same prices and listings, but added a bullet point for "Complex armor/outfit/tattoos" costing $50 extra): I paid in full on June 22nd, 2019, and would not hear from BadCoyote again relating to my commission until April 24th, 2020, a full ten months after the invoice date: Now, lets talk about BC's Terms of Service (ToS): he has two separate versions, an old one (Used before July 2020, as far as I can tell) which he now claims applies to me based on my purchase date, and a new one (Screenshot taken in October 2020): Now you will notice the old ToS on the left has no set time-frame and refunds section, and is rather vague on when pieces will be delivered. If I give him the benefit of the doubt, the vagueness was not intentionally set up as a slippery way to get out of refunds, but rather run of the mill incompetence. This is seemingly corrected with the updated ToS on the right, which has a fairly comprehensive policy in the "TIMEFRAME & REFUNDS" section, specifically: I would consider a character sheet in the same level as a painted illustration, given the work involved, which would have given BadCoyote until December 22nd, 2019 to finish my commission. The fact that I didn't even hear from him until late April 2020 means he is in breach of his own ToS. And to be clear: He did not start work on my commission, as far as I know. BadCoyote does not run a Trello board, note system, regular tweets on progress, or updates to a profile like FA, Weasyl, Inkbunny, DeviantArt etc. with WIPs, nothing. BadCoyote routinely goes completely silent, for months on end, and no one has any idea what he has been doing in the months since his last tweet or last art stream on Picarto. The few updates commissioners or fans get is through his Twitter, which, for our purposes here, does not routinely give updates on commission progress or WIPs. He will post finished pieces randomly, usually weeks or months between such updates, and I never received any indication my commission was ever worked on. This leads to my character commission. On Twitter, I sent him examples of what I was going for: Here start and ends the "Collaborative Design Session". This is me telling him what I wanted with the commission, and then it just ended. I would send him more examples of what I wanted from bodybuilding references... Doesn't matter. He never acknowledged these additional images, or that he got my messages. Thus ends the "Collaborative design session", I guess. Personally, it did not feel collaborative, nor a session. Pretty unsatisfying, tbh. On June 28th, 2020, BadCoyote updated his Twitter with a list of 23 commissioners waiting on pieces: A few days after this tweet, BadCoyote announced one of his random Picarto streams, where he did art live, and his husband, Lobo, ran trivia, with prizes being either sketches or chibis (btw they still owe me a chibi from a year ago when I won trivia) done in an hour or less, live on stream. I take this as proof that he can work fast, as the following two pieces of my werewolf sona, TK, were finished within 4 days for the weightlifting piece, and the forest piece was finished live on stream since it was a $30 sketch commission, in under an hour: I would also like to point out his response to posting a queue of 23 separate commissions waiting to be completed was to draw sketches as trivia wins and take on stream commissions. Because he announced the stream, I figured that was a sign he was working, and decided to ask for any updates: Note that I did not say "I agree" or "I like it", because I did not want this to happen. But this was the first and only indication from BC that my piece was finally going to get worked on, a full year after the original invoice date of June 22nd, 2019. So I made a point to watch the stream, win trivia again (because that's what I do dab), and have people admire my eagley boi. This is the only piece I have received from BC regarding my $250 color character sheet, a full year after I commissioned him, paid in full: I'd like to note I was never sent a draft or image, and instead had to screenshot the stream. I will be honest: I don't fully like it, and I would have liked more changes, as I detailed on Twitter; such as a v-taper waist and more prominent obliques, as well as some changes to the muscles overall. This is a starting point, I fully get that, but BadCoyote and Lobo were seemingly against any changes made in the chat on stream, I guess because it made more work for them? Now, what I imagine BadCoyote will say is that because I have this pic, I will only get a partial refund from him, if any at all. My argument is that I paid for a character sheet he described in his commission form as being "Front, back and side, with color swatch". This is a black and white draft, barely the front view, and was started and completed on July 4th 2020, well outside the 6 month maximum outlined in the ToS, given an invoice date of June 22nd, 2019. This here represents the first and only piece of evidence BC did any work on my commission, and it was preformed a full year plus after invoice date/the commission was paid in full. I have not received what I paid $250 for, given the only work preformed is this black and white sketch, when I commissioned him for a full color eagle character reference sheet including front, side and back views. Since the Picarto stream on July 4th, 2020, I left Twitter because of personal reasons (Twitter was stressing me out, basically). This had the unintended consequence of cutting off my only communication line with BC, so I made a new Twitter account solely to communicate with him. He told me it would be better to email him, so I did just that: I never got replies when it came to updates on my commission, but he did reply to an email relating to his husbands health: I take this as proof he is reading this email address, and therefore is selectively choosing what he does and does not reply to. He told me on Twitter to email *this* email account. After speaking to a fellow BadCoyote commissioner about how long its taken and not hearing anything from BC, I finally decided enough was enough, and sent an email to BC saying I am posting an ArtistBeware on him because it has been over and year and a half now, and I have not received any updates on my commission. He did not reply. So I decided to leave a warning in his shouts to anyone considering working with him: BadCoyote deleted these shouts a day later, and reached out on FA: Let me be clear: There is no good time to ask BC to preform his work duties. Anytime I have seen anyone bring up the fact he owes them art or a refund, he treats it like he is being bullied, followed by a bevy of excuses ("Multiple Surgeries", "Burnout", "Been feeling sick because of my [censored]", "Dealing with family drama" etc). If I did not contact him on his holiday, I would have interrupted him while he was *totally* working on someone else's piece, or was sick and not feeling well, or was dealing with his dog, or whatever. There will never be a good time to make BC do his job, in my personal view. To ask him for updates regarding my $250 commission from a year and a half ago is quite obviously rude, and how dare I. The finale to this is I sent him a note on FA asking for any updates, and BC sent me a note back saying he is willing to do the piece, so long as I remain civil. So I accepted his offer, specifically because of this line: I reiterated what I wanted for my eagle design in response: Like the past year and a half, no response, no updates on Twitter, nothing. The week passed. Its been 18 months at this point. When BC talks about civility here, what I believe he means is "Go easy on me" and let him continue operating as he does. The way he conducts himself has lead to a queue of 23 people, all of whom paid in advance, waiting in some cases years for their drawings. When you criticize this simple fact, you are being uncivil in BC's view, and in fact, bullying him. BC says in his FA messages to me that he plans on leaving the fandom: To BC, all I can say is good luck.
  9. I purchased a commission from Galactirad on etsy that was never fulfilled by the artist. I attempted to contact them twice on etsy about it and recieved no answers. Unfortunately Etsy said I had missed the window on opening a case against Galactirad which means I never recieved my commission or a refund from etsy or the artist. For a long time I was unable to reach Galactirad through etsy or Instagram. For a long time they went silent on social media until recently they announced they would be moving to another Instagram account under the name Strawberrydecayy. I politley contacted them again to see if they would resolve the issue, instead they blocked me. I've noticed their etsy shop is now closed, but they are still accepting commissions through PayPal. - We originally agreed I would provide references and payment and they would draw me a full body colored image of my character. I've tried to provide adequate proof in chronological order for the event in question. This includes messages and proof of payment.
  10. TLDR: I commissioned Cassandra in August of 2018 and have received nothing but delays and excuses until she stopped responding to messages in May of 2020. Back around August 2018, I had decided to commission Cassandra for a custom plush of a character I created. With it would be included 1 set of clothes and plush jewelry for him. The total for it was $170, which was paid on August 18th, 2018. In September, I get notified that she’ll be moving soon but that the plush would be finished once that was finished. She next messages me a bit in October with a question about the clothes and I don’t hear anything from her until I message her in December asking her to check with me about the address before sending the plush. From this point in time, I was distracted by some personal matters that were going on (the reason I would eventually be moving) and kind of forgot about the commission until March 2019 when I sent a new shipping address and asked how the plush was progressing. She was still recovering from a surgery she had in the month before. From here, I checked in every so often and ask how things were going with my plush and I was reassured she was still working on it while also getting a new excuse each time for further delays (family issues, dog had babies, moving again, etc.). Finally, we get to May 2020 and I check in again only to hear she had moved her focus to making masks and that she was having issues with shipping things due to COVID. This is the last time I heard anything from her even though I messaged her multiple times from August to November. And full disclosure, I wasn’t exactly nice in my last message to her, but I was very upset after having been lead on and lied to for so long. Around early to mid-August I start worrying because she hadn’t replied to me yet and I end up checking her Etsy page. She had posted a notice that she was temporarily taking a vacation due to the pandemic and so she can track down delayed or lost packages. It did state that current orders were still in fact being worked on though, which made me feel slightly better even though I was still worried. Not to long after, I had noticed that the message had been updated to include that her Instagram was hacked, which at the time I figured was why she hadn’t replied to any of my messages. However, I didn’t notice until mid-September that multiple negative reviews had popped up on her store, all of which site either missing orders, lack of communication, or both. So now it wasn’t just me she wasn’t communicating with, but a bunch of other customers as well. Of course, I still wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt though and tried reaching out through Etsy but all I got was the auto reply. Not getting any replies here, I also try to reach out via email to hopefully clear things up and quell my worries, but again, no answer. Eventually, her Etsy shop was either removed or taken down due to the negative reviews (not sure which). Not sure where to go from here, I post a missing contacts post on here on Artists Beware and also reach out via email. At this point, I has already suspected that I had been scammed but still hoped it was just some problem that had happened. After a few days, I was contacted by another person who told me that she had also done this with quite a few others, them included. [removed due to third party] Additionally, she deleted the emails I was using to try to contact her sometime after I had first emailed her about this whole thing. With all this going on, I felt I couldn’t give her the benefit of the doubt any more and decided that I would put up a beware on her. I’m also inclined to believe that I was given the runaround and a lot of what she told me may have been lies. I certainly do not believe her Instagram account was hacked, as the timing was just too convenient and happened just as all the negative review started coming in. I am also very doubtful that she lost as many shipments as there are people who did not receive their order even with the COVID related postal delays that did actually occur. I had also even reached out to some family members in my desperation to get any sort of communication with her. I got a couple replies back, one of which also stated that they had ordered masks from her but she told them the package had been lost in the mail and that they are still waiting for their money back as well. Most recently, I had also discovered that she has a Twitch channel where she has streamed many times since I last spoke with her, further evidence that she is not in a position where she wouldn’t be able to reach out to anyone and that she was indeed ignoring not just me, but everyone else as well. So regardless of whether I’m able to get a refund, I would like to say DO NOT COMMISSION CASSANDRA WISE. It’s been so long since I did and I have nothing to show for it. I’ll admit that I definitely wasn’t as persistent as I should’ve been with this commission, but ultimately she’s the one that run off without so much as a good bye and it seems she is refusing to communicate with anyone that she owes work to. Proof of names:
  11. So, I just found someone that took a commission doing a copy/paste of my art, removing my watermarks, without permission and without crediting me. Original art links
  12. I first contacted Hawk on April 25, 2020 through instagram. I received a quote of $1050 (+$50 shipping) on the same day. Commissions were advertised to open on July 1st, so when that day came around I went ahead to request a slot. They did not reply for 5 days (they usually didn't take more than a day to respond), so I emailed them instead. I got a reply in about 6 hours saying that they weren’t very active on insta due to personal reasons and that I could get a slot. I requested a commission slot on July 5th, 2020. At first, they tried to get me to send through Venmo, but I declined due to lack of buyer protection (thank god). Sorry I couldn't fit their user into this screenshot- the email too long to fit this piece and their user into one screenshot. I got an updated quote of $1200 (+$50 shipping) on July 6, 2020. At time of slot request, I was not first in the queue, so we agreed that I'd pay 30% down ($360) then to save my place, and the other 70% ($840) when I was first in line. I paid the 30% down on July 9th, 2020. After contact via email, replies from Hawk came every 1-4 days. On July 27, 2020, Hawk contacted me to tell me that I was now first in the queue. I paid the remaining 70% on July 28, 2020. After sending the rest of the payment, they confirmed that they'd received it, and said they'd be posting to their instagram, @fluffy.fox.fursuits, in a few days. Their instagram has not posted anything new since April 2020. As seen in the screenshot below, their definition of a late response was 3 days after the money was sent, which would become nothing compared to after this email lol. On their website, it states that the turnaround time for a partials take 6-7 weeks once you're first in the queue, so I expected to see SOME kind of progress within 2.5 months. After seeing no work in progresses and getting no response, I reached out just to check if things were going alright. I'm completely okay with delays, but not with being completely ignored for months. As my buyer protection was nearing its close, I decided to file a paypal dispute on November 23, 2020. By the 27th, they still hadn't replied, so I messaged them through paypal giving them one more chance to respond before I escalated the issue to paypal. After no response, I escalated the issue. Paypal has messaged them but have not received a response as of yet. It's safe to say I'll be getting the money back by default after the unresponsive 10 days are up. Judging by their attempt to get me to pay through venmo, I think this was their plan all along, yet they aren't experienced enough with paypal to know that it has buyer protection. I suspect after their account goes under by the $1.2k they'll suddenly appear and want to chat. This maker had great recent work despite their not-so-great past, and I personally know the person they last made a suit for, which is what made me choose this maker in the first place. Still, even if they decide to fix up their act after losing the money, I wouldn't trust them again, and I'm surely not giving the money back if they ask for a second chance.
  13. I came into contact with ronmeru via discord, following their recommendation to contact them there as posted on their twitter, which is where i first saw them. I liked their artwork and agreed to pay them for a sfw piece. I paid the same day and they said they'd add me to the queue. Being used to putting confidence in artists, I didn't think much more of it as time passed. After more than a month I asked how it was coming along, since my commission wasn't more than a coloured sketch. They said they'd reset their queue the next day and get to work right away. A month passed, and I asked them again, to which they responded they'd do it tomorrow. A month passed and not a work, so on the 26th of november I asked for a refund as I was no longer interested and they had no proof they'd even started on it. They didn't respond and I escalated it to a paypal claim. They didn't respond and paypal gave me a full refund. During this time, they've shown activity on their twitter and discord server, blatantly ignoring my commission. I want to warn potential commissioners of this artist.
  14. Back in July, I ordered a sketchy custom for $75 (USD) from g.hosting (not realizing the username would be very apt!) Here's the link to the auction: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37221256/. I've attached a screenshot showing my initial win as well as the paypal transaction. Unfortunately, I nuked all of my Furaffinity notes, but Ghosting and I went to Discord for awhile. I have some screencaps of that. The "we" I'm referring to is my now-deceased fiance. As I understand that art can take time to complete and the year has been completely insane, I decided to be patient. Not to mention I had to deal with my fiance's passing in August. You can see in the screenshots that months went by. In the meantime, Ghosting was semi-active on their FA and more active on their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sinscitys/. On November 6, I expressed concern for Ghosting's health as well as how long the commission was taking. I've been ripped off for almost $300 this year, and between Ghosting's active posting and lack of progress, I was afraid that I was dealing with yet another "push things past the dispute window and then disappear forever" artist. It became one of those awful situations where you don't want to yank money out of someone's pocket, but you also can't be a doormat. You'll also notice that Ghosting offered me a refund, which I preferred, but suddenly they weren't able to provide one. Now knowing that Ghosting was more active on Insta and FA, I sent messages to each, which went unread for two days. At this point, I was fed up. I opened a dispute and escalated it. You can see in the Paypal screenshot that there was an active dispute associated with that transaction. A few hours later, I received this: https://sta.sh/02dmz8wjlaf5 And responses to my FA note and IG message. The FA note was just to let me know the IG note was responded to, so I am only including the IG screenshot. The custom's quality is lower than many of Ghosting's other designs. But after some consideration, I decided I did like what I received for the most part and closed the dispute. Juice just needs sprucing up and a clearer ref sheet. Ghosting has offered to draw a little extra art as an apology, but based on my experience overall, I'll consider any extras like a scratch ticket win. In summary? Ghosting's designs have a definite charm to them. They are generally colorful and lively. If you like them and can get your hands on a premade, I wholly suggest it! Ghosting as a person seems to be very friendly. But until this artist can communicate and work more effectively, I would hesitate to commission them.
  15. midderoo (midderoo) wrote in artists_beware, @ 2018-12-23 22:03 Xhybora WHO: Xhybora WHERE: Furaffinity ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/xhybora/ ) and Discord WHAT: Single character short looping animation WHEN: First payment made December 30th Second payment made January 12th. EXPLAIN: This'll be a bit all over the place because of how FA's notes work. And I want to get every single screenshot so it shows everything. (It reads from bottom to top when it comes to the back and forth, in case it looks a bit confusing to read.) Note: Some of the conversations via discord are NSFW. 29/8/2017 I was first approached by Xhybora on the 29th of October where they expressed interest in doing an animation for me. [1] I of course responded, not having had many people actually express interest in me and my OC's so much they actually come to me. I try to keep it buisiness like but friendly at the same time. [2] 30/8/2017 The next day he replies telling me how much the base price normally is. [3] I respond to them, telling them where it's easier to talk to me and how to keep in contact with me as well as telling them which characters would be good for the animation they had in mind. [4] They then ask for my Discord. [5] I give them said Discord. [6] Through Discord we discuss the idea. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] 11/12/2017 He messages me to check up on if I'm still on board with the commission and when I will be able to pay. [12] I suggest a payment plan since my PC had kicked the bucket and I had to spend any money I'd been saving on a laptop. He also reiiterates the idea he had in mind as well as which OC he wanted to use, which was my Fursona. [13] He tells me how much it will cost and what it will come with. I also express interest that if the animation turns out well I'll return for more. I think you can tell how that went. [14] I work out roughly about how much I can pay for and when I'd be able to. As I always like to give explanations on how/when I get the money and when it'll be in Paypal. As being transparent with the artist and explaining everything to them is something that I find they like. [15] We continue talking about the commission and not much else. [16] 28/12/2017 - 29/12/2017 He messages me again to make sure I'm still interested. [17] 30/12/2017 I pay the first payment. 30/100 USD. [18] The Invoice. [19] Him and I discuss when I'll be able to pay it all off/make another payment. [20] 12/1/2018 He asks for the rest of the commission payment, which I pay in full. [21] The Second Invoice. [22] 25/5/2018 - 23/12/2018 I ask how the commission is doing. To which he says he'll get me a wip soon almost a week later. I wait a few months, ask for the update he said he'd give me months prior. I wait 12 days before giving up waiting any longer. [23] I make a payment request through PayPal since I don't know what else to do. [24] Overall I kinda just feel crappy. I got a bad feeling once or twice around the time I was paying him. But I didn't listen to it because I always feel bad saying no and/or making people upset. I was just too naive and gullible. I am not sure if it'll get solved. If it does that's a plus. But I'd like this to be here as a warning. Do not commission someone if you get any sliver of a bad feeling. And please, be wary of people that come to you for a commission.
  16. This was a commission over Twitter requested September 1st, 2020. It was a couples icon for my SO and I. I requested the collar be added and it was agreed to, and since then I've been ghosted. My ref. Other character was fine. Payment: WIP was shown. Again, usually artists add the collar / glasses at the end of the sketch. This is on me for not asking. End result: This is where things get a bit off. I admitted I forgot to add the collar to the request and, again, it was agreed upon. They said they would take care of it when they "get home" and I was prepared to give them a tip. I would've been fine paying for a correction but being ghosted is super rude. A simple "No, I don't do edits after completion" or "It'll cost X amount" would've been totally fine, but not this. They've been active ever since. Friday post at the end was 11/20/2020. Still active, posting multiple times every day since. I just feel really disrespected and wanted to get this out there. Thanks for reading.
  17. this artist when ghostings many other people and scamming them out of their money, took a lot of people for commissions and never sent back any work done to all of us. on my behalf this was my first time having a comission from a known artist. paid 40 dollars to never see anything done. even contacted them via email AND their telegram. never answered.
  18. August 25, 2018 I commissioned Blix/Fuzzworks for a custom dildo of my design. I paid them $100 to start it; $70 for a 3D computer model and $30 for the clay. They paid another artist the $70 to throw together the 3D model of the dildo. I never received those files. He quickly started to 3D print the dildo. Then he started sanding and priming it for dipping in a mold maker. He told me on September 19, 2018 that he'll need another payment installation to buy the silicones. I told him "okay". Then he offered me a business proposition with my design. The last I heard anything from him was February 11, 2019. I know he is active. He is producing fursuits. My buddy is waiting on eye molds from him, and he spoke with them on telegram. September 7, 2020, I asked if I could just have the sculpt he made. I can find someone else to finish it. I just don't want him having my design in his possession. I'm getting worried that he's going to sell my design. That really upsets me. I worked hard on that design.
  19. Two days prior to the incident I made the starting bid on an adopt put up by TeaEel, the Hundred-Eyed Mermaid Adopt. I was the only bidder, and so I won the auction at $50. When I received the invoice, it was for $53, and not the agreed upon $50. I questioned them about this, and came to find out that they were attempting to pass the cost of the PayPal processing fees off on me by up charging me above and beyond the agreed upon amount. When I objected to this, they claimed it was in the rules of the auction. I went back and reread the rules, and could see nothing of the sort, nor could anyone I showed it to. I pointed out nowhere in the rules of the auction did it say that I would be charged for the PayPal fees or anything extra other than the agreed upon price, and they insisted it was there without actually directly referencing it, saying it was their right as an artist to set the rules as they saw fit and if I did not follow through and pay it then I would be banned for violating their rules. Shortly after, they blocked me, erased the original auction post, and resubmitted it with the added text urging people to read the rules. The only thing I can see in hindsight that might be what they are talking about is one line that says "Commission is on buyer", but I can't imagine anyone looking at that and thinking it meant they were agreeing to be up charged. I am unable to provide a screenshot of my original winning bid as by the time I had gotten home they deleted the original post and resubmitted it (I was on mobile for the conversation), but they confirmed my original price and the up charge through messages. The screenshot of the invoice shows the date as the 22nd instead of the 21st, to my knowledge this is because they are much further ahead of me in time zone and invoices I believe match the date of the sender.
  20. On July 20th, 2018 I requested a commission from Psy101 on Furaffinity. The artist asked for up-front payment($80 USD), which normally I'd be cautious about, but the artist came at the recommendation of a friend so I had reason to "trust" a bit more. Since that time, Psy101 has ignored all future attempts at communication on FA through notes asking for a status update or if/when it'll be worked on. Each time, FA's Read Receipt feature showed he had indeed read / opened the notes I've sent him. Furthermore, Psy101 would go on to continue to take on new commissions, do gift art, and commission other artists routinely. There are over 50 uploads on the artists gallery in the last 3 months alone, of a varying degree of personal projects, gift art, and commissions both done-for-others and received-themself. (I'd like to say I'm patient, especially with regards to if a refund is needed and if an artist doesn't have the money on hand to at least show some faith in *working* to get a refund at some point. In this case it seems money is not an issue with Psy101 as they're continuing to commission other artists while not responding to any note I've sent) Image descriptions (minorly edited some NSFW details out to keep post SFW; if that's alright?): AB1 - Initial note & idea, responded by Psy101 asking for a little more information, and myself replying (admittedly vaguely, blech) July 20th, 2018 AB2 - Psy101 reply to AB1 stating an invoice was sent, and myself replying it was paid. July 20th, 2018 AB3 - First attempt at contact on March 1st, 2020, more than a year later. My patience to wait was wearing a little thin and I just wanted to see if I'd been forgotten. AB4 - Oct. 23rd, 2020, yesterday. I asked him for another update or if I should just take it here to AB since I didn't know what else to do at being routinely ignored Psy101 Invoice - Edited -- Paypal invoice, edited to remove identifying details (I think I got 'em all?) Readreceipts - My FA note Outbox showing the two times I asked for an update (AB3 & 4) have been opened/read by Psy101. (Normally there is a yellow "Letter Icon" until a note is opened/read) (First post, sorry if I did something wrong.)
  21. Hey guys. This is my first time writing a beware, so I hope I did everything correctly. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/0KOcf6w.png I contacted phvtes (now gobuwin) on DeviantArt on 9/16/19 with my information to get a pixel tag slot from the emergency commissions they were having. They replied 2 days later to accept the commission and said they would have a WIP done the same day or next at the latest. I let them know after I sent the payment. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/IF4So9m.png Things started to take a turn for the worse at this time. After not hearing from them with the WIP, I messaged on 10/8/19. I didn't receive a response. I messaged again on 10/16/19. I didn't receive a response until 10/20/19 when they sent a group apology to all of the people that had commissioned them that were also waiting for a response. I replied, a bit frustrated at the lack of communication after their tablet broke, but we agreed on continuing the transaction under the condition that it would not happen again. They cited mental health problems and offered a free painted headshot for the trouble, which I also never received. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/JKI7u7f.png I received the first WIP on 11/1/19 and replied with a request for a small edit on her ears. I received another WIP on 11/7/19 that was further along. Everything looked great. Unfortunately, this is the last WIP I ever received. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/UkLFc0T.png From here on out, none of the notes I sent were read or replied to. I asked for the status of my commission again on 11/24/19 and finally on 12/2/19. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/KRrjDvF.png Unfortunately, as I made the mistake of sending as "friends and family" on Paypal, I was unable to file a chargeback. Instead, I was forced to go through my credit card company to receive a refund. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/Qd3pnpa.png

I took a bit to send the money, so I put an extra ten in cause I felt bad for taking so long. I got a lovely gift art from her for it. I felt confident my commission would be done just as quick. So I waited. Around July, I asked for a WIP. I got it and sent the okay, again I waited for her reply. I will take blame for this part, apparently it didn't go through or something so my bad.I sent another note asking why she haven't sent anything and later I got it and we were both clear on continuing. I again, waited. Her tablet broke, so I took into consideration to wait before asking for more progress on my commission. But during all this, she has been posting adoptable things left and right, even did a commission for one of those adoptables. I dunno if she has done these before the tablet broke, she doesn't communicate. She has no Commission Que anywhere and her ToS is not detailed. She never updated if she got a new tablet. I've had ZEEERO communication from her. None. I've been the one to be sending the notes during all this. Even her dA had updated adoptables and art of her and of her partner, I don't like snooping through her dA and youtube, I don't think its fair for me to be but its resulted to this since she gave no effort to contact me. She made a tumblr, it has adult art. Dates show she's been doing the random art even when I asked for my WIPs. But I put it aside and waited. I made the mistake not to confront her. Fast forwarding around November, FA seem to have had a Note malfunction. During that I sent her another note( http://i.imgur.com/xqUkS.png?1 )stating that I've been beyond very patient for my commission. Asking for a refund, it got lost during the update it seems. She made a journal asking for who she owed art to, so I sent another. She got it and have been waiting since for the new WIP. Still waiting, this will be 6 months. And she has the nerve to make MORE auctions even though she hasn't even finished mine! Honestly I am fed up. I have given her chances to finish my commission, held back on posting a report on here. I feel bad for posting, I shouldn't but I do. ADVICE: Should I warn the others that have bought the resent auctions? Should I call Paypal for the refund? I dunno what to do now at the point. I never been in a position like this. Please help. --------------------------------------- EDIT I have received the artwork. Everything is fine. I appreciate she finished it.

That same day I reserved 1 spot in the all-female orgy for my character Sh'sthress. March 26th, 2013 - I send a follow-up email to my email of the 26thApril 9th, 2013 - I comment on a journal post to ask Wyebird if she received my previous two emails.PROOF: October 24th, 2011: Wyebird asked everyone to pay for the spots they've booked. As they do, the journal is updated to show payment status. Payment via Paypal to go to wyebird[underscore]2004[at]hotmail[dot]com (addressed munged to evade bots). I sent payment the same day. (journal 1 of 2, journal 2 of 2, Paypal record) November 4th, 2011: Wyebird says she will begin with the all-male orgy, as she's still waiting on payment from some people in the other ones. (journal) November 20th, 2011: I commented in the payment journal of October 24th to ask for any info on progress; Wyebird replies she still needs to send notes to the delinquents who haven't paid yet. (comment) November 25th, 2011: Wyebird says she has received all payments and she'll try to get them done "real soon". (journal) December 9th, 2011: Wyebird posts the first two completed pictures; the all-male orgy and the first of the mixed orgies (NSFW! all-male orgy pic, NSFW! first mixed orgy pic) March 15-17, 2012: Having not seen anything in a while about these, I looked through Wyebird's journals and galleries in case I'd missed it, and found a "to-do" list journal, so I commented there to ask if there was any progress on the remaining orgies. Wyebird responds to say she's having a struggle with it but hopes to have something done soon. (comment) May 7th, 2012: Wyebird says she'll be starting the all-female orgy tomorrow (i.e., May 8th), she has an idea what to draw and all the references to hand. (journal) June 20th, 2012: Wyebird asks people to remind her if she owes them art, so I comment to remind her of the all-female orgy pic. (journal, my comment) June 29th, 2012: Wyebird posts an updated 'to do' list; the orgies are in the 'planning' stage, though from her post in May, I had the impression they were further along than that. (journal 1 of 2, journal 2 of 2) August 17th-18th, 2012: I noted Wyebird to ask for some idea when the orgy will be completed. Wyebird noted me back the next day to say she hopes to have something "soon". I replied to ask for something more specific than that. (note on 17th, wyebird's reply, my reply to wyebird) August 21st, 2012: Wyebird posts a journal about delays in work, that crotch shots and auction will be done, then older pieces. She also wrote that she doesn't want people to send notes but to comment in her "to do list" journal. (journal) About 2 hours later (going by the time stamps) I read the journal and checked my outgoing notes box; at that time, Wyebird had still not read my note. (unread note dated the 18th) So I told her I would comment in her "to do journal"... (comment in response to most recent journal) ... and I did; repeating the text of my last and as-yet unread note to her, including typographical errors, and adding that I have sent notes to the other people who were part of this commission. If the A_B community deems it relevant, I can screencap and post my notes to them, but I'll need their permission to post their replies. (comment in to-do list journal) I sent her an email to ask for a more definite commitment - end of September, end of October - and her response sort of indicated that she agreed with the proposed times. (contact email, reply) In November - about a month after I thought I would receive this, I noted the other participants via FA to ask if (a) they'd heard anything and (b) would I give them permission to mention them in any potential beware? Chakattailswisher gave me permission; one of the other parties did not, but said they'd been in contact with Wyebird and she was having an art block on the picture, and the third party hasn't answered, so I can only infer they've forgotten about it (FA notes) December 20th, 2012 - As I have still not received the artwork, and it's now been almost 14 months, I emailed Wyebird again to ask for a firm date by which the picture will be done. (my email to her as of today, December 20th) UPDATE - April 9th, 2013 January 7th, 2013: Having not heard anything, I emailed Wyebird again at her commission email address, asking her to respond to my email of the 20th. (follow-up email) January 10th, 2013: Wyebird responds to my email, apologizing for having had to open for yet more commissions, but does not give me a firm date. She does, however, offer me the option of a refund. (Wyebird's reply) January 11th, 2013: Two journals from Wyebird; the first is an offer of refunds to commissioners with outstanding commissions owed to them. (journal) She then opens for more commissions: (journal) January 24th & 27th, 2013: Two journals, three days apart, in which she indicates she will issue refunds to people next month (i.e., February), and message them to let them know. (journal)February 26th, 2013: Wyebird asks everyone who is waiting for art to email her, and announces that she has disabled notes (journal). I emailed her with the details of my commission. (email)March 26th, 2013: Having not heard anything about my commission for another month, I emailed her again, asking her to commit to a specific date by which it will be completed. (email)April 9th, 2013: Another two weeks having gone by without any response, I commented on a journal to ask her if she had received my emails (comment) EXPLANATION/DISCUSSION:I really feel quite silly posting this, because in financial terms I'm potentially out of pocket only $5.00. I had lost track of this until March, in fact, when for other reasons I was going through my PayPal history. However I didn't really start getting concerned until late June when she asked for people to remind her about work she owed. However, she then updated her to-do list a week later, so I thought I'd just keep an eye on things. However, I did start reading some of her back journals and so on, and I noticed a distinct trend. Depression, arm injury, needing money. In May she started offering freebie art, 10 spots per month to start in June. I haven't screen-capped all these journals mainly because they have nothing to do with me other than to demonstrate that she has an incredible workload outstanding, but I have a representative selection I will post at the end, and for any who wish to, they are (as of August 18th) all still present in her FurAffinity account.Briefly, though she still owes considerable art, between the end of June and now she's taken on multiple batches of "crotch shot" commissions, 2-character specials, pin-up commissions and an auction. July 4th specifically, she posted that she was sorry about taking on more commissions when she still owed so many, but she needs to raise money to move, because her current living quarters are stiflingly hot during the day. She is still suffering from art block as well.I hope I don't come across as unreasonable or unsympathetic, but it's been 14 months which strikes me as a little ridiculous. I knew at the time I reserved a spot that these would be simple art - lines and flat colours - and at the per-spot price she wanted, quite appropriate; but by the same token, they shouldn't take all that long to do. I also feel as if by submitting this beware post I'm going to make it just that much harder for her to get out from under. At this point, if she were to tell me she simply can't do it, I'd be just as likely to say "Don't worry about it" and not ask for my money back. However, there are other people involved in this commission as well and I can't speak for them. I have heard back from two of them and they, too, are curious about where this piece is and have asked me to keep them informed. Examples of her taking on further work:June 30th - taking crotch shot commissions July 1st, 4th - taking more crotch shot commissions, apology for taking more commissionsJuly 11th - taking 2-character specials August 1st - taking pin-up commissionsAugust 12th - taking more crotch shot commissions August 14th - auction commissionI do wish to say in closing that Wyebird has been consistently polite and good-natured in our communications back and forth about this commission. However, it has been 14 months since these pieces were offered and paid for; my concern is that this has dragged on for considerably longer than it really ought to have. I would like to think I'm not unreasonable in asking for a rough delivery date - a month, two months - instead of "soon". I hope that she can get her living situation sorted out and her commission backlog reduced, and that she will overcome this challenge and have a successful business as an artist. UPDATE April 9th, 2013At this point I have the feeling I will not receive the art. Moderators, please mark this "abandoned". I do not consider it resolved, but I don't see that I can do much else. Thank you. UPDATE April 30th, 2013I was wrong; the art was delivered April 28th! I consider the matter satisfactorily resolved, and wish Wyebird every future success.
