  1. Update: the artist replied ! They said that they would look over what they had so far n think of alternatives to approaching the project n that a partial refund may be considered. Hoping that this ends well for the both of us
  2. They don't mention turnaround times in their TOS but I've commissioned this person twice before. Typically they've been able to deliver pieces in under a month. Obviously I don't expect it to be done as quickly considering their situation n I very much encourage them to pursue personal work to clear their mind, but what has me worried is being left on read. I would have appreciated some kind of acknowledgement, even if it was to say that they had nothing for me, but maybe I'm wrong to expect this. This might be my best course of action. If I don't get any updates by the end of this week I'll send another nudge, and I will set an ultimatum if I can't get it through that way. I honestly don't expect to see the com done anytime soon as it is a hefty project at 3k words + coding, but I don't want to get too aggressive too quickly. Thank you!
  3. Hello ! I'm in a bit of a situation w someone I commissioned a few months ago n I'm not sure how to proceed In late December I commissioned this artist for an interactive text game for US$165 and was told that I would get an update on it around mid January. In late January however the artist claimed that they experienced a severe mental drawback that had made it difficult for them to do "the simplest of things", including replying to people. Since then, however, they have been posting several personal works, one of which is an interactive text game posted in late February. I sent them a note on FA about a week ago asking for an update on my commission, even offering to lessen their workload in exchange for a partial refund, but even though it has been read I have yet to get a response. Three personal works including the game had been posted ever since I sent that note. Am I right to be concerned? How should I proceed? It has been more than two months since I commissioned this person, and they have not given me any sort of WIP. I should also mention that their TOS has a "no refund" rule, and while I do know that it's technically not enforceable I'm usually very understanding of these things and I don't want to be a nightmare customer. Advice much appreciated, thank you !
  4. Update: opened a case on September 2 after not receiving any response from them. I got my refund today after, again, no response to the claim on their behalf. Would exercise caution if this person ever resurfaces as I doubt I'm the only person they've ghosted.
  5. Update: As of August 4, 2021, both of these pages have been deactivated. I will be sending the user an ultimatum via email.
  6. FA: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/gfy/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Jorah_art I commissioned GFY around mid-May 2021 for an animated pixel icon. He gave me one WIP after a few days, but then suddenly ceased all activity on both his FurAffinity and Twitter, as far as I can tell. He claimed in a journal made in May that he "had to go offline" for unspecified reasons, but that he would continue work on commissions regardless. Between May and June, I sent him a note on FA, a DM on Twitter, and an email to the one attached to his PayPal; I have so not gotten a reply to any of these, and as the note is still unread as of July 23, 2021, I doubt the others have been read either.
  7. Yeaaaaahhh that tweet of yours wasn't exactly Innocent... I get it, they're giving you the runaround, but that doesn't justify "screwing him over so hard he never wins another raffle". Like yikes
  8. Update: they got back to me two days ago, and I got my refund today.
  9. Their FA (deactivated): https://www.furaffinity.net/user/xxcoffeeobsessed I commissioned this person around mid-December 2020 for a 3k-word story after they posted an ad. One month later I poked them again only to find out that their page had been deactivated. As of the writing of this post it still is. I have sent them two emails over the course of two weeks using the one attached to their PayPal (which I will not share as I assume it is private information), both of which went without a single reply. I'm currently not aware of any other aliases if they have them.
  10. Thank you both for your replies 🙂 A tad bit disappointed that the honor system allows leeway for minors to get NSFW art (PayPal's age requirement has been circumvented by others before), but I guess I'd rather that than have someone risk getting their identity stolen or worse. Again, thanks!!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm not really going to open commissions anytime soon, but I wanted to get some advice on something I've been thinking about for some time. So it is generally agreed that clients should be 18 years or older in order to commission adult/NSFW artwork, and in some cases artists have this requirement for any type of commission. I commissioned three artists for the former, but something struck me as off; despite their TOSs claiming that they only take 18+ clients for NSFW commissions, neither of them explicitly asked for confirmation of my age. Granted, I had my real age posted on the handle I used to contact them, but without showing any proof I could have very well been lying about my age. I feel like more artists should ask for age in a more explicit way, but how would one go about it? Would you ask for state ID? I feel like asking for one infringes on people's privacy, but how else would you confirm someone's age if not that way? Many thanks!
  12. I'm not sure how it works on FA, but have you tried filing a DMCA takedown? They quite literally stole your art...
