Commissioner wants to buy for commercial purposes - advice?

Hi folks! I do simple symmetrical headshots, and I’ve recently received a message from someone asking if I was open to a commission of their character that they could use as stickers to sell. I’m open to the idea of this, but I’ve never sold my work commercially before so I have no idea how to go about it. What is the standard procedure for a situation like this, and how can I go about pricing in comparison a personal use icon? Thanks!

HI ZI

I do a few of these types of work-for-hire jobs here and there.  General rule of thumb is 3 - 5x commission cost to sell out rights.  Usually a simple contract will do just fine, but you can also use the copyright transfer form via Legalzoom.

For a first time thing you probably shouldn't stress yourself too much with it, just charge 4x your normal price and move on. If later you start doing more of that type of stuff you should probably make proper contracts if you're nearing 4 digit transactions.
