      Where: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/TouchScalyTail
      When: 11/13/2019
      What: Commission

Most of the info for this story I've provided in the images.

The jist of it is that I feel this commissioner deliberately backed me into a corner to send them a refund with the intention to get free artwork.

I also feel they misunderstood what they were ordering. I will admit that I was not as clear as I could have been in the advertisement for this offer however

that does not excuse the fact that this person didn't give me sufficient info in order to draw this project accurately and then proceeded to demand a refund over errors

when I had already delivered a completed piece of work to them and even took the time to fix these errors.

Most of the issues they had with the delivered content was not addressed before hand such as the fact they wanted NSFW content and full nudity on their characters

and that the accessory were mandatory.

and I'd also like to state that had they ordered this piece of work based on my regular prices it would have been 90$ instead of 60$ so it is infact a sale. They did not pay for the quality of work they were demanding

and though I tried to address this to them they did not seem willing to accept that. This is why I have posted this to warn other artist and hopefully prevent anyone els from having a similar experience with this person.

I think this is a weird situation because there is no statement on WHAT quality they are supposed to get, and theres no samples. I could see that the client thought they might be getting shaded, and was upset they got flats. They may not have seen your price sheet. But also, the YCH price doesnt always equate the style price.

I do agree they are not entitled to a full refund at all. If I had made this mistake I would have offered a partial refund. If I fulled refunded I would tell them they CAN NOT use the artwork at all. It's not paid for.

While the fault of what happened is on both the Artist and the Commissioner, I would say more-so the artist.

The Artist only ever provided a finished piece the Commissioner mistook for a work-in-progress, where no W.I.P had been provided, just a finished product with missing details (Mostly the character on the right. Their Tail was white, the mouths on the tail look borderline unfinished and rushed, and the character is missing its ear piercings and collar.)

Even when the piece was corrected the only thing that seems to of changed was giving the goo-girl character more goop and changing the tail of the other character to purple, then had the audacity to say the commissioner would need to pay "Editing Fees" if they wanted anything else changed...while the artist themselves had still missed some details. This comes off as scummy on part of the artist, not to mention making this artist-beware seem petty and even vindictive. As for the nudity the Commissioner expected the YCH shows none of the example characters in clothing, nor are examples provided to show otherwise.

The Commissioner should of asked before hand for examples when none were provided however, they should of been told exactly what they were getting before spending money. I do not think it is their fault the artist seemingly rushed through their work and expected them to be happy with whatever they got. If I went to get something made, provided examples, and got a rush job with no showings of a work-in-progress, I would be asking any service for a refund.

It reads more like the artist felt the client was asking for the bunny to be more "goopy" which would require some shading.  Though I agree they should have linked examples, and the collar needed to be fixed as it was in the ref.

I've let your comment through despite this line toeing the line on Rule 5:  "Do not imply a beware doesn't belong here".  Please be sure to read over the rules before participating further.

Then to address this it is on the Artist to provide examples and say that the 2 person, or all the YCHs would be flat or shaded before people come to buy them. It is unprofessional to not do so and can lead to situations like this.

I disagree. I'm not implying the post shouldn't be here but I can see how it can be seen that way. With the mistakes the artist made, granted, the references provided were not usual ref-sheets, I still feel the artist had left out too many details themselves and thus makes the post come off that way, at least to me. There's no issue with the Beware being here.

But either way, my apologies, I won't make comments like that again.

This wasn't something to agree or disagree on.  It's a polite reminder to read our rules.

I agree that the artist should have made it clear that the YCHs would be flat colored, and the artist already said they accept fault for not being clear on that so I feel that them being blamed for the commissioner's behavior afterwards isn't conducive.

This is personally hard to judge. The artist may be inexperienced and not know how to approach/draw the mouths. For the level of flat-colored commission, they look "finished" to me.

The commissioner should have been clear that those details are mandatory.

They fixed the one actual error on their part (the tail color) free of charge. Personally I would have charged more for them demanding more goo because it means editing the lineart and adding more colors which is time consuming, especially when the character already has "goopy" details.

I don't know the artist's TOS, but in mine I tell people I don't send WIPs unless specifically requested because I tend to do pics in one go (and I post WIPs publicly and stream), and I charge extra for any edits that are not missing markings/colors/etc.

The commissioner demanding a full refund for finished work is poor behavior no matter how you look at it. They got the art they paid for. While the artist wasn't clear on how detailed the art would be, they still completed it and even made the changes the commissioner asked for. The artist deserves to be paid for their time regardless of how unhappy the commissioner might be that it isn't a higher level than what they paid for.
